Completed it on the PS3 one weekend when the misses went away for a SPA 2 days with her mate.

Thought it was a brilliant game, really enjoyed it.

I agree.
Got my copy on Friday, had played it on ps3 but it's also from the makers of Uncharted which is one of my favourite game series so knew it would be good.

going to jump in here and agree. I really, really cant see what the fuss is about. Yet another fking apocalyptic zombie doom scenario. Boring bearded rent-a-yank protagonist. Tedious button mashing with the odd bit of pointless stealth and/or crappy combat. Where's the buzz?

maybe I'm not down with what's "hip" in games but I'll take the arse clenching dark rooms of Doom 3 or the pure balls to the wall Nazi killing death-fest of Wolfenstein over steering some tedious bearded hipster through yet another zombie infested "ruined america" walkabout.

I like how it is possible replay the game a second time and continue to upgrade, rather than it being too easy.
I can't see an option to do this - if I start a new game, I'm back to square one again, no upgrades??

I haven't finished the ps4 version yet so I don't really know, to be honest.

On the ps3 version I think it only did it if you were playing below hard difficulty and I'm not sure it did it if you changed difficulty for the next play through. It's been a while since I finished playing the ps3 version.

Eta: it seems new game plus (which is when you start with your progress from the last game) can only be used when playing on the same difficulty or lower with the ps3 version. Still not sure on ps4. I tried hehe

OK cheers, I'll give it another go. Should've said that I'm also talking about the PS3 version having started it months ago and only getting around to finishing it a couple of days ago. Finished on normal, started again on easy by selecting the "Quarantine" chapter and the upgrades have gone (health boost, heal speed, clip capacity, etc)

Back on topic, I found the game itself not too bad. It's a bit same-y gameplay wise all the way through though whilst looking great. Story is told well I thought.

I'm still only midway through my first playthrough myself but, as I understand it, you can only start a New Game Plus (and so keep your Joel and weapon upgrades) but starting NG+ on the same difficulty you have already beaten. You can't beat it on Normal then start afresh on Easy with all of the upgrades.

I assume that there will be an option on the Title Page to start NG+.

I worked it out eventually - you are right, you can't use a different difficulty and you also can't seem to just jump into any chapter you like. There is no option on the menu to start NG+, there is no reference to that mode at all. It only seems to work if you select the "Continue" option on the main screen after you've finished the game - you then start a completely new game (with a new save slot) this time as New Game+ and all the previous weapon / health upgrades are there. Weapons only become available at the same time as they did in the first playthrough though i.e. you don't start with a massive arsenal of guns

It's odd though that when I simply selected a chapter from the main menu, the Continue option said "Continue New Game Plus" but it didn't seem to be, but when I am actually playing NG+ it doesn't

All of this on PS3 BTW

but never once did I get bored (unlike Bioshock Infinite and Dishonoured)
I'm really surprised to read that because I absolutely loved those two games.

I enjoyed them too, but they became too samey towards the end (although I did like bioshock's twist); however I have no desire to replay either whereas I've replayed Last Of Us twice.

Ah right. Yes, I'll kinda give you that. Bioshock: Infinite has no replay value (although it is one of the most emotionally engaging games I have played). Dishonored has limited replayablity inasmuch as I played it through first in high chaos and then in low chaos. It felt like two different games.

I'll confess I have not actually played The Last of Us because I am a PC gamer, but before people roll their eyes I watched a 6 hour (yes, 6 hour. Although not in one sitting) play through on YouTube that was done as much as possible as a film, and I have to say it was the best game I have never played. I was really engaged with it and it was a fantastic story. I really hope the film goes ahead.
I really hate 3rd Person view so I don't feel I could play it (plus I would have to buy a PS3 or PS4), but it still ranks right up there as one of the best games ever. Which is quite some accolade.

Anyway, I'm digressing here. Sorry.

Just got it today. It is not too bad. Certainly impressive graphics. Am enjoying the (somewhat predictable) story however....

Thank goodness I have a shotgun now though, those clicker things were really p****ng me off.

The clickers are blind, if you move very slowly and keep a bit of distance you can just walk right by them. Really helps save your ammo and shiv's.

Also think it's a great game and I'm enjoying playing through it again on PS4, not many games in which the story is properly engrossing and convincing.

Sadly I am too much of a "kill them all" kind of player......

But that is a wise idea to try and dodge some of them.
