Right ok, the ending...... (SPOILER)

Was he lying about there being more immune?

Yes that is what I was trying to decide. After all they did (and she saved his life) it was too much to have her die.

Mind if there is one, there will be others.. And let's face it most of the people don't really seem worth trying to save......

Yes, I did think the virus must be dissipating as so much travelling is undertaken without meeting any infected.

I think there was the futility of it all built into his decision. Throughout his travels he learns that other 'immunes' have been sacrificed for a cure and it failed every time. As a result I'm sure he thinks the same would happen if they operated on Ellie and her death would be for nought.

I posted this in the other thread a while back, but there is a really good article analysing the ending and Joel's motives for his decision here:
http://uk.ign.com/blogs/arieces/2013/12/31/retrosp...

It's very well written and is worth reading.

I assumed primarily it was a "daughter MK11". He couldn't save the first so we ensured he would save the second. Also, I didn't listen to the Audio Logs so didn't know there had been others immune who had been experimented on unsuccessfully, so he wasn't lying then.

And that was a good write up too.

I found out over the weekend that the Voice Actor who voiced Joel in The Last of Us is also the same guy who voiced Booker DeWitt in Bioshock: Infinite.

"Constants and variables". smile

Troy Baker? He's a prolific voice actor for videogames; is also the voice of the Joker in the recent Batman games and Ocelot in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, amongst others.

Yup, anyone with a PS4 who doesn't have this game, get it bought!! It is well worth that kind of money.

So I bought this and started it on normal difficulty last night. However I've been reading up on the grounded difficulty and it sounds amazing. Is it feasible for someone who's never played the game before to play on grounded or am I being daft?

You can only play grounded and survivor modes (both hardcore modes although one is more extreme than the other - can't remember which one is which) after completing the game on at least Hard setting.

I replayed Last of Us on Hard+ so I could max out all my meds and weapon upgrades; need to give the hardcore modes ago - love a good challenge!!

Grounded would appear to be the tougher one. No hud, no super hearing, tougher enemies and minimal health and ammo pick ups.

I might go back and start a game on hard and hope that it interests me enough for more than one play through. I don't bother replaying really story heavy games very often.

Just seen this as the thread got bumped up, Mark Hamill played the Joker.

With renewed interest brought about by E3, I’m currently playing this through again for the third time, now in 4K. Running on easy difficulty so as to enjoy the story and avoid the stress.

An unbelievably good game biggrin
