it only gets better!
I think its the only game where on first run through I've not skipped any of the cut scenes

I started it again last year on survivor mode (or what ever the hardest mode is called) and got to the part that I found flipping hard on my first run through when playing default level - no idea how I am going to get past it when its a million times harder the part where you are hanging upside down in a garage with runners and clickers coming for you

That part is difficult for sure!

I’m into it for the narrative rather than stressing-out in combat. It’s just an amazingly well told story. The nuances of character and relationship development are pretty much genius, in my opinion. There are a fair few moments where events stopped me dead in my tracks and left me reeling. But then I’m a bit of an emotional soul wink

ETA: perhaps oddly, although I normally prefer 60fps whenever possible, I find that this game works better for me at 30fps 2160p. It’s more cinematic than the 60fps 1800p option.

Completed it again last night. Enjoyed it more than ever! The relationship development between Joel and Ellie is amazing. In fact just watching Joel change during the course of the game is heart warming, but of course the moral tug-of-war in the final hour is very affecting. I sincerely hope Joel plays a big part in the sequel.

I’m going to play through Left Behind again, and then just keep replaying the entire game until the sequel is released. In my mind there is no better game ever made. Which, when you consider that the actual gameplay is often repetitive and worthy of repeated rage-quits in terms of its annoyances, is some bloody achievement!

The Last of Us is a Magnum Opus, and a lesson in just what is achievable in a video game. A work of art.
