I have a couple of HE shell in my SU-100Y especially for one-shotting Hellcats. biggrin

I shoot other tanks through walls all the time. I even killed someone yesterday through a truck. HE and HEAT are no good as they explode on impact of course, but normally AP will go through most things. There are cases in real life where AP shells have hit their targets though a house or hit a second tank after going straight through the first one.

Have you not seen the episode of Mythbusters where they test truck bed liner spray for it's protective properties? It actually works as a blastproofing agent to a degree.

That stuff is epic. If I ever do a car restoration I'll be having the underside coated in it!

Big XP haul on this one, Thanksgiving x5 bonus.

And the base XP was worth a mention too

Another successful tier 4 noob stomping in the FCM36Pak40. Training my future French artillery crew nicely. I've also taken advantage of the Black Friday sales and bought a T2 Light, Locust and Ram II with the discounts. One run though the x5s on those, and my T14 did about 50% of a crew skill, and I've yet to get my x5 in the Super Pershing. This weekend I will turn my st American crew into yankee death dealers.

I also really like the Ram II, it felt pretty agile and hard-hitting, if not terribly durable.

Is it just me that's mildly amused by Mastodon taking pics of his telly screen? hehe

It's the only way I can do it too, as print screen doesn't work for me (Apple keyboard).

I had same problem on my old machine, but there are plenty of programs that will do it instead. I used one called Screenshot Captor which did the job nicely. I'd be surprised if they didn't exist for Mac as well.

How about for Xbox, which is what he's using, iirc?

No screenshot function on the old 360, Xbox One supports it but it will be a while until World of Tanks is moved over there. WG are looking at implementing a match recording function which records matches as files and then you can access player cams, fly around as a ghost cam while the replay pans out, similar to what Quickybaby does in his videos.

EDIT: Apparently screenshots are easily done by running an HDMI cable from the tv to the laptop and then displaying the TV screen image on the laptop/computer screen for easy screenshots, but this seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks, it's actually a PC, I just use an Apple Keyboard. silly Because, reasons.

moan

It generally works fine, but the print screen button isn't mapped exactly right. There probably is a way to fix it, but it's not a big deal. I can use the Sniping Tool for screen shots in the garage, although I have to turn off full screen temporarily as well.

I use a program called Gadwin PrintScreen for things that do not work with the normal printscreen button, its very effective with lots of different options.

MM has been brutal today. Had far too many 2-15 losses despite me doing over 1k damage in my SU85B in most of the games. The teams I've had have been infuriating. 8 kills on Komarin and a loss, etc. mad

Yes, the weekend retards are out early. Not just the regular ones either, but the real <45% spacktards who, if they've actually worked out how to move forward after a couple of thousand games, spend their time shooting their own team, getting stuck on tank traps, blocking shots & bumping into you. biggrin

It's not just you that's suffering.

It wasn't even a x5 day either. yuck

Still, I managed to pull back the win rate for the day back to about 48%, which after the start I had with the SU85B, was a relief.

Thinking about using the 50% off on the tier 3-5 vehicles to pick up a couple of little premiums on the cheap. Anyone got experience of the following - are they worth it (even at 50% off)?

Churchill 3
T-25
FCM Pak40

Garage slots on offer too, thats good timing spin

I'd rate them in this order - although I dont have the t-25

The PAK40 is a brilliant little thing
T-25 seems a good all rounder
churchill 3 is good as well.

I have all of these. Wallet warrior for lyfe, yo.

Churchill III - Good hull armour, st turret armour, 80mm and flat on the front. Poor gun depression, and not very fast at all. However, the gun is the saviour here, it's a low alpha, high-ish pen gun with crazy ROF, about 26rpm without boosts. I run my III with a rammer and a GLD. The GLD helps it to engage at mid-range, as it will be reloaded before it's fully aimed, the rammer helps with close combat when you will be able to out-DPM just about anything you'll meet at tier 5, and give tier 6s something to think about too. I don't know how the PC premium crew XP bonuses work, but prior to WG re-jigging the crew xp multipliers, the III was the fastest training tank in the game, it clearly had a much bigger multiplier than other premiums. Russian bias! This thing also makes good silver, as it can do a lot of damage. I love my III, one of my favourite premiums. Amazing when top tier on Ensk, terrible when bottom on Malinovka. It's an amazing brawler / bully tank, but can flounder on open maps.

T-25 - A decent premium, armour is nothing to write home about, don't expect to bounce much, but it's a tank that excels when it's not being looked at. The gun is a reasonable sniping tool, and has a good mix of alpha, ROF and pen that make it decent in a shorter range fight. Acceleration is pretty good, top speed is very good. Has a lot of depression for a German tank too, from the high-mounted forward turret. Hull and turret traverse are slow, which makes this a bit ungainly in urban fights. However, I find this tank works very well as a sniper / spotter in the early game, then turns into a solid predator later in the game, attacking wounded targets and using it's speed to move around the field and press the advantage where needed. Someone worked out that this has the highest silver multiplier at tier 5, but if you've got a lot of games under your belt, silver probably is not a concern, unless you play the tier 10 183 TD!

FCM36Pak40 - Ultimate seal clubber. Dreadfully slow, armour means nothing, though I have bounced the odd tier 2 shot here and there. Quite a big target too, looks like a giant potato with a gun sticking out of it. That gun though, is absolutely amazing, as is the view range at 400m without binoculars. With binoculars active, the view range of 500m in a tier 3 tank is just ridiculous. The FCM36 works best as a gun turret. Set it up where you know the enemy will come and you will rip them to pieces as they come past. When played right, this becomes an amazing carry tank, as the enormous view range, penetration and good alpha rip enemies apart as they try to find you. If this thing had any armour or mobility it would be in major need a nerf. Camo net, binocs and a GLD and away you go. The gun arc is rubbish but it aims so quickly it's quite capable of engaging fast moving low tier lights if you can lead shots well.

thanks guys, thats useful info.

I've gone with just the FCM Pak40 for now, will think a little longer on the others but will probably get them. T25 sounds right up my street, Churchill III I'm less sure about yet but will see. Pity the test server isn't up.

First impressions after 3 games with the FCM are jesus titty fking christ, this thing is a seal clubbers dream (3 wins, 13 kills laugh) but will see how it goes. Slow, but you dont have to leave your cap to spot half the enemy team with its crazy view range and binocs. Will be a great crew trainer, pity it's only 4 crew and not 5 but its only the radio operator missing so no biggy.

Also it has to be said the bad teams can sometimes go in your favour... 6 of them got 1 xp or less eek
