Just picked up a Reaper ribbon, KV-1S on Widepark putting that ridiculous 122mm D-2-5T to use. I got 5 one-shot kills, 2 of which were kills from fires started by the shot, which I think still counts towards the reaper, as it's a shot causing the death, just delayed. I was pretty lucky, as early in the match a KV-2 derped me and set me on fire, and when the fire eventually went out, I was left with 7hp to see the match out, though I still managed to go on to get another 4 kills after the fire.

True story, bruh.

You generally get Reaper with derp gun tanks that can one shot people.

My record is 11 with the Hetzer firing HEAT. laugh Those were the days!

My best Reaper spree is 7, which was probably also with a Hetzer, when I was running that with the 105mm gun it felt ludicrously OP on certain maps, but completely hamstrung on others.

Ho-lee fk. Just had a look at the packages for the IS, sine I'm now some 32,000xp away from unlocking it. The IS packages, and the IS-3 unlock cost in excess of 210,000xp! I usually like to unlock all of the packages for a tank before unlocking the next tank in the tree, so that I feel like I've learned the tank and given it a proper go, not just rushing to the next thing in the tree, but this is ridiculous. After researching the first package with the 122mm D-2-5T and some other kit, you can then earn 77,000 and unlock the IS-3, or as an alternate (dead end) branch of research, you can research an engine upgrade for 46,000, and then a gun upgrade for 65,000. It doesn't even look like that good a gun, it's just the same as the D-2-5T, except instead of 4.08rpm, it shoots 4.88rpm, which is a decent % increase, but hardly a game changer that will alter how the tank plays massively. I don't remember the Tiger being anything like as long-winded to get to the Tiger II. I think that probably took me about 250 matches before I'd earned enough xp, but not enough silver, to research the Tiger II. Going off my average xp earnings, I'm looking at 500+ matches to unlock the IS-3, if I don't skip any packages.

What a funny old tech tree, those crazy Russians.

I like to elite vehicles for the same reason, and also because modules have a habit of turning up on in other parts of the tree and can save you time.

Case in point - T-43 - the top engine is already unlocked when it comes time to play it, though the 2nd engine isn't (but is automatically unlocked when you unlock the T-44.

Actually, the only things I need to unlock on the T-44 are tracks and turret.

Also, if they change the tree and you've elited the tank, you often get any changes made thrown in automatically and you don't have to re-visit the tank again.

Damn, only 7 with mine.

Did get 8 with the SU-100Y though and that's not a derp gun. It's just a beast canon.

Had a fking terrible night tonight, win 1, lose 1, win 1, lose 1. Had the most retarded teams I've seen in a long time. Came very very close to hitting the uninstall button. furious Managed to increase my personal rating from 5218 to 5266 so still going in the right direction but Christ I had to work hard for it tonight. mad

Quick question on BIA for Russian meds in particular. My t7 T-43 crew is approaching their 3rd skill. If I take BIA, should I drop vents for something else (currently got vents, optics and either a rammer or GLD, can't remember), or keep the vents? The idea is to use the crew to progress up the tree.

Also, if anyone has the elusive A-44 and would be willing to let me kill them in a battle, that'd be great, as it's the only tank < T9 that I haven't killed yet. I'm presuming they're elusive because they're difficult to play, or ste.

As I said above, I'm getting fed up with the slow/heavy armoured TD grinds. Both the AT8 and T28 play just as you've said and it is a real grind to grind them. Might just ditch both lines. Same as the JT that I sold a while ago.
I enjoyed the AT-7 which comes after the AT-8 I think. Mainly because you weren't dumped in T9/10 matches.

What do you have on your t43 crew currently? Also BIA only works with all the crew at 100% in it, which I'm sure you know but just pointing it out. Is the idea to retrain from whatever is getting to 100% in the 3rd crew skill over into BIA.

My russian meds have the following setup:

Commander: Sixth Sense / Camo / BIA / Repairs
Gunner: Snap shot / Repairs / BIA / Camo
Driver: Smooth ride / Repairs / BIA /Clutch braking
Loader: Safe Stowage / Repairs / BIA / Camo

Equipment - Rammer, Vents and Vertical stabilizer.

I did mess up though with the camo on the Commander, should have done repairs instead first. Safe stowage though is a must - the ammo racks on these things are silly vulnerable, especially on the T43. You shouldn't need a GLD on these, especially with BIA and vents, unless you play the T44 with the 122mm (which would be crazy btw). Vents stacks well with BIA so I would keep it on personally.

Also this weekend it's a double crew xp every battle and 50% off crew skills retraining so good timing smile

50% discount on all consumables as well (finally!!). Time to buy a few hundred repair kits etc.

The matchmaking at the moment is terrible. I swear if I played tier 10, I'd end up in a tier 12 game. Every win felt like a good game.

Even got 8 kills with the tier 1 Chinese tank and drew the game because the last enemy ran off an hid as the timer ran out. It was his very first game as well the git. Of my last remaining team mates, one was botting and the other was too fking stupid to either help me or start capping. furious

Crew is currently as follows:

Commander: 6th Sense / Camo
Gunnner: Camo / Repairs
Driver: Clutch Braking / Off Road driving
Loader: Camo / Repairs.

The idea was to retrain them, yes, so was thinking of BIA for all, with 6th sense on the commander and a mixed bag on the other. Safe stowage sounds like a plan to me. Then I'd get them all training repairs or camo (I don't seem to spend that much time sitting still in the russian meds, so repairs sounds more likely) for their 3rd skill.

You've gone for Vents and BIA I see. Confirms my thoughts.

Edit - I run with a Rammer, rather than GLD.

I would, but I'm on the wrong server. Plus, I'm only about 14k away from eliting and selling it.

They are both difficult to play AND ste.

Keep vents and BIA - but check that crew numbers don't change later and break BIA.

I see them quite frequently, though I've only killed 6.

Took a day off today and played a few games this morning which never happens unless its the weekend, anyway noticed the players were pretty hardened and whenever I cocked up I was punished big time.
Wonder if these people are retired or unemployed and spend their mornings shooting tanks.

I see it as a personal challenge to increase it by a few points every time I play. Gives me something (else) to aim for. Remember you're not just playing for fun but also as part of a team who want to win so playing carelessly and giving the enemy easy kills is exactly the cause of the "high blood pressure" and "frustration" that you speak of. idea

I would imagine the kids being on holiday across Europe make quite a difference.

In the next patch (9.3), the Hellcat is going to be nerfed into the ground along with the KV-1S.

There's going to be a several light tank additions to the Soviet, German and US lines.

One of my favourite TDs, the T49 is going to be renamed the T67 and a new "T49" created at tier 8.

The new US light branch comes off the Chaffee, which will now get regular tier 5 match making.

It'll go : M24 Chaffee -> T37 -> M41 Walker Bulldog -> T49 -> T54E1 (The current tier 9 medium autoloader)

The new Soviet light tank line continue from the tier 6 MT-25, which currently branches sideways off the KV-1S.

In future it'll follow from the T-34 at tier 5 and look like this:

T-34 -> MT-25 -> LTTB -> T-54 Light -> T-54 (the regular tier 9 medium)

The T-54 light sounds quite interesting. Maybe a bit like the Type-59.

The Germans get a new tier 8 light tank after the AFK Panther. This allows you to go directly to the Leopard Prototype at tier 9, instead of via the Indien Panzer. It's called the RU251 and looks quite like the Leopard Prot.

Argh. Wonder how many tanks I'll have to re-elite...
