Currently hating taking crap tanks into fights where I know I won't contribute much.
This is a function of how the game is designed, to make you feel the frustration and open your wallet for premium tanks, or premium time to shorten the grinds. A tank of a given tier, with all the top packages, is more dangerous and competitive than a stock tank from the tier above, that's just the reality of it.

Finally, after 6 months playing WOT, I've crumbled and handed over money to WG. Not for premium time - which I will eventually buy, but for a TOGII, a parking pass and a Matilda Black Prince. I just had a few games in the TOGII, it's exactly what I wanted. Turn up in the fight, smash everything, die from artillery fire, take 25,000 credits for a losing game. It's amazing how everyone just ignores everything going on around them when a TOG turns up, they really are XP pinatas, everyone wants a shot for some juicy XP and silver. Previously, I've cleaned up in my Tiger and JagdPanther particularly, so I'm glad to be returning the favour in my own TOG now. The gun is a beast too, it will be lethal with a rammer, BIA and snap shot. I'll eventually be running a rammer, vents and super-heavy spall liner on this tank (the spall liner alone is 750,000 silver!), but as you'd expect it performs well out of the box.

The Matild Black Prince I bought just because it's an oddity. From what I read it's not the strongest premium tier 5, but if I wanted the strongest I'd have gone for a Russian Matilda or something. I went for the Matilda BP because it's a bit of an oddity, something rare and you don't see many of them on the field - maybe for a reason! But as I say, I'm here for fun, not stats.

The new 1.4 update landed today, and what an update. Massive improvements to the post-match screen, which was ugly as fk on 1.3, slightly snazzier graphical effects in the menus, improved particle effects on firing (you can more easily trace your shots now as they fly to their target), the Soviet SPGs were added and the KV-2 is here now also. Bundled in with that was 2 new maps, Port, or an alternate Port with snow and night mode on, and Live Oaks, and Live Oaks in the rain.

So, 6 months in and I'm now paying for it. I don't mind tbh, the fun and time I've spent on this mean I don't feel like I shouldn't - this is head and shoulders, absolutely miles ahead of any other FTP game on the Xbox. Different leagues. It's telling that it's the highest earning MMO game of all time, even out-stripping WoW. They've just got it right tbh. It's punishing and elating in equal measure, but more importantly it's completely captivating.

Try the VK Leopard - it's vastly underrated in my opinion. Great fun with 6th sense, offroad driving, optics etc.

I've been playing the tier 4 Soviet SU-85B tank destroyer for the first time ever. I'm using the 57mm needle gun from the previous TD and the crew are about 90% trained with no extra skills.

In the first 3 games I've had 2 Top Guns, 2 High Calibres (1,000+ damage) and a Pascucci's medal (kill 3 scumbags).

I've never known anything like it. It's a beast! silly

Still no Ace Tanker though. Two first class, but god knows what you have to do to ace this SOB.

I've unlocked the first of the two other guns, but I might stick with this one for a while.

The US players quite often refer to arty as sky cancer - "leave me alone, Sky Cancer".

I've taken to reply "sod off, ground aids".

Me and my mate platoon regularly with SU-85Bs. He's on 6th round of training and I'm on my 3rd round. Camo value on it is insane and even out in the open they can't see you until they get really close. Rammer, bins, 6th sense, camo crew and clutch braking make it an absolute beast and it can hold its own in tier 6 without needing prem if you know where to shoot them. Downsides are shockingly bad gun elevation and the depression isn't much better, gun isn't very accurate either.

Don't buy any equipment until it goes on sale, which is regularly enough. If you are buying equipment full price you are doing it wrong and it will cost a fortune.

The TOG II is a terrible tank but it definitely does have the fun factor and it puts a smile on everyones face. You do realise you have to name your TOG and it should be a Royal Navy name as it is ofcourse a British ship. HMS "whatever"

The Matilda Black Prince is a rarity on the battlefield but isn't THAT bad a tank. It gets preferential matchmaking which makes the difference and when you are in a tier 5 game it is competitive with its rapid firing pop gun. Because of its oversized turret it often gets the nickname of "the big headed baby" hehe

There are no equipment sales on the 360 yet, but at 30,000 silver in profit for an "ok" game in the TOG I don't mind saving up the full amounts by playing the game.

I had one game in the MBP last night, picked up a mastery badge right off the bat. It's not awfully slow, has a fast and accurate gun and seems to have great depression. I'm looking forward to some more matches in it tonight.

The only premium i want is the MBP! I have an IS6 and JagT8.8.

Like you the rarity of it is the fun factor, a lot of the tanks i use are rare, i have none of the OP ones! I.e T95, M46, T-43-2, they arent the best but they are different and can have brilliant games.

6th round of training! Wow he must really like Russian TDs a lot.

I've got summer camo paint and a camo net, but yes it does seem to be quite stealthy at longer ranges. That needle gun fires about 26 rounds a minute, so you can really whittle an enemy down. The other guns are half that, but their stats look good. I'll unlock the top gun first and use that I think.

I've played the tier 5 to 9 TDs before - I skipped straight to tier 5 via the T-34.

I've noticed that watching Twitch streams from the US.

People aren't keen on being one shotted or having half their health knocked off by someone on the other side of the map they can't retaliate too.

I've been rammed off the road, shot at & team killed before in mine. The only one I have now is the French premium, which wasn't nerfed and can still be pretty dangerous. I think i've played it once this year. They removed it from sale a while ago.

These days, at the same tier, it's more like 20% of their health, if they're unlucky and actually receive a direct hit.

This also requires the arty to be both lucky and skilled.

For the most part, it requires the recipient to be a bit dumb and stay in the open long enough to get hit.

For them to get hit twice, well, they have to be ingly retarded.

I notice that it's the bad players who complain because someone has taken advantage of their mistakes. A one shot is vanishingly rare these days.

It depends. Some arty players are clearly use XVM to target the best players on the other side and they'll shoot at you all game, even if you're in a crap tank.

Anyway, they've got a livestream at the moment from Gamescom in Germany. They're showing off World of Warships.

I've just had a few matches with Z06George, he's a good guy and a good player too. Our most notable match was him in a T25-AT and me in a Tiger I on Sand River, team experienced melt and left myself, George and one other tank behind a sand dune defending the cap against an IS-3, a Panther, a T29 and a few more. We didn't turn it into a win - our tier 7s would always struggle against those tier 8s, and we literally back against the wall, defending from behind a dune. We did turn it into a draw, which was well earned and hard fought.

Another match saw GeorgeZ06 in a Jackson and me in the TOGII on Himmelsdorf, with some moron in a KV-1 trolling me by parking in front of me to block me from moving. Maybe if he hadn't been carrying on like a knob the opposition wouldn't have rushed the cap and won the game in under 3 minutes. Ho hum.

Only when playing arty!

Had my first ban this week. Some knob started firing at me at the start and stupidly I returned fire inside the starting circle, noob mistake. Blue in the garage this morning but all fine now.

Matilda BP is a pretty good tank at tier 5. Slow but fast firing and can easily take on heavies in one v one using weak spots.

Himmelsdorf I don't mind too much, Widepark, now there is a map I hate.

Just thought I'd share these two hasty screenshots

Live Oaks, rain on, 6 kills, Top Gun and a Mastery Class 1. Pretty happy with that. The TOG worked perfectly in that match, acting as a rolling hammer, smashing aside KV-1 and KV-1S alike, out-TDing the TDs and chasing a scout tank down for a kill. This thing is silly fun, but I can see why you love it or hate it.

Doesn't come round too often at tier 4-6 where I can usually be found in my SU-85B but at tier 2-3 in my Cruiser 3 it is literally every other fking game, either the normal one or the winter variety. I do hate that map and any towny ones. I prefer open maps like Malinovka.

Wide Park is okay if you start on the south side. If you start on the north side you may as well give up if you're in a TD.

Razer are giving away 3 free days of premium account, link below. Haven't tried it myself (yet), but last time they did this you just need to create a Razer account if you don't have one and log in with it. You then get a bonus code you can apply to your WOT account.

Not sure if / when the offer expires, so best not to hang about.
