loving the td view nerf, they have had it too easy for too long on open maps, trying to close down a td was suicide, screw you ground aids, we're coming for you! wink

The TD view range nerf has gone too far, I have no idea how but I just had the st shot out of me by a tiger that I couldn't see and it was only me and him left on the map.

I haven't bought any gold this year and I think I'll give war thunder a go instead.
The Tiger has fairly decent 380m view range and I always had binoculars on mine so I could engage from as far back as possible. Oh and a high level of Recon (probably about 1.5% to the view range) on the commander and full Situational Awareness (3% boost) on the radio man.

They probably had at least optics on their Tiger to give then an extra 38m. I usually have these on all my heavy and medium tanks.

Awesome T29 game sa_20v. It's a hard tank to get a mastery badge in, but a Radley Walters will usually do it.

Cheers, got five before my team were wiped out, I then picked off another four as they tried to cap. The other clan member picked off four in their T29 so we got Crucial Contribution too! biggrin

On the other hand, I played Saturday night and had a game where I ran ahead of the team at the start and an SU-152 asked me to scout the ridge for him (on sand river, I was in AMX ELC) so I did and he collected 7kills without me moving or firing then at the end I rushed over the top and picked up 3 kills from partially damaged tanks retreating where he couldn't see or follow quickly enough :-)

The nerf "works" if it makes people use light and scout tanks to do their jobs- sadly too many rush madly into the fray with no regard for their vulnerability. They get bloody lust and must make kills themselves, that's not team play though!

Any SPG players use Battle Assistant? Its a great little mod that alters your view angle and makes playing SPG a hell of a lot more fun.

It is borderline cheating as I am sure my accuracy is a lot better than before, but it has been officially confirmed as 100% legal.

Well i logged in for my first proper stint (over 30mins!) in months.

1st game was a total collapse for my team...

2nd game i was Tk'ed in my T8 Med by a T9 Arty as apparently spotting and holding one side/covering the middle of the map with a T9 heavy whilst the rest of my team lemminged the other side of the map was not what i was supposed to do, so he blew me up... whilst calling me everything under the sun..... we lost that game too. What a fking tool.

Not a great start, i almost logged off after my 3rd defeat but im glad i stuck around, jumped in the Sherman M4 and had a cracking game and it carried on from there

I had a T26E4 shoot me in the side yesterday taking nearly 50% on my SU-122-44 health for zero reason, the CIRC tag does attract unwanted attention :/

Fortunately it never happened/happens often but it bloody pissed me off when it did happen! Fortunately none of our VBRJ chaps were on to hear me ranting lol

I did enjoy jumping back in the tanks though, I've not played for over 2-3 games for a long time

Yeah there's nothing like a dose of tanks to get the blood pumping - at least not in the quite peculiar way that WOT does. When it you play well it's a delight (win or lose), when you play badly it's ridiculously frustrating and sometimes it's just down to blind luck.

I guess it's like golf, really. Only with less silly trousers and more tanks. Same number of (a)holes per game mind.

Got into the A-44 this weekend, luckily had most of the modules unlocked from other tanks. Thought it would be weird, medium with rear turret & heavy tank gun, but it actually works well. Finally a fun tank to grind through again cloud9

The A-43 at tier 6 is the painful one I think. Its fast, but the gun choices mean you really have to work it hard as a flanker / circling tank. Probably works well in platoons of them, but on it's own its hard work. The only gun with decent pen is not well suited to it, and the better gun has such a low pen (it's the Zis4 from the T-34) you end up either bouncing 75% of your shots or using a lot of prem ammo. It's not cheap given it only delivers ~85hp per shot.

It's not such a huge grind through it, but yeah it's tough. I ended up free xp'ing the last bits just because I couldn't face any more of it - probably only the 3rd tank out of the 100+ I have played that I have done that with...

So far though the A-44 has been worth it - especially if you have the 107mm already unlocked from the second heavy line. Top engine is also unlocked from something (I guess the t54 line), so its just tracks and turret needed to have it fully pimped which is decent. It is prone to losing it's engine though, being front mounted.

A43 is good. Use it as a crew trainer. Will solo anything in its tier.
A44 however is known as "Riot Bus" or "Council Tank" on account of it used to spend most of the time driving through the wrong side of town on fire with people shouting loads of four letter abuse at it.
Only good for bullying tier 5's and 6's. When it's not wildly ablaze and being abused that is.

The T8 and 9 tanks are excellent. 416 and 430ii amongst the best in their respective tiers.
Couldn't be bothered to buy the 430 (T10).

The A-43 is fairly quick. End of the good points. The needle gun doesn't cut it at tier 6 & you're mostly just a tourist as a result. Avoid if possible.

The A-44's gun is OK, but there's no gun depression and the long aim time is crippling for a medium tank. I gave up on it because I just kept getting one idiot team after the other. That's not to say it isn't a bad tank - it is. The frontal shots that simultaneously track you, knock out your engine and spin you side on the enemy are a delight. One tip I got since selling it is to fit a Cyclone Filter, which gives your engine 50% more hit points. Now you'll just be tracked side on instead.

This was a particular delight of that abortion of a vehicle.

Well I like the A-44. So nyah nyah nyah silly

It seems especially good at making people angry, I've only had 17 games in it and already 2 people raging at me during and after the game laugh

You can keep it. tongue out

I had 81 games with it and need less than 30K XP for the tier 8. I'll get it back and finish it one day, but I need a better crew with with full repair skills before I do.

I've started to feel a bit more comfortable with the CGC today, it is very troll but when it works, oh lawd. I hit an FV215b for 2446 damage earlier, no doubt causing his blood to boil and steam to shoot out of his ears. I was on a bit of a roll, and ended up having a 7200 damage game, which was only enough for a Mastery Class 1. I also aided my team in a match where Z06George had a 7000 damage game in his T95, where a VK45B had dug in behind a house on the south of Malinovka field. Sadly for him, his house was not arty safe, and while I couldn't target him directly, a couple of 800 damage splashes soon moved him on his way. I'm so glad I persevered with the British arty line, it felt like such a chore at times with some dreadful vehicles, but the CGC is truly a worthy reward, even if it is mercilessly trolled by the RNG.

Other than that, I've had an absolutely riotous night platooned with another lad, we've watched some absolute shockers unfold, seen some of the worst gameplay I've seen so far in my 5500 battles and dished out some incredible wins, perhaps the most notable being a Brothers in Arms on Mines, with 8 kills between us, completely running roughshod over the enemy.

And this is why I love my T95...

Funnily enough I had a message from a guy who died next to me saying stop being such a pussy camping at the back, well I was further forward than him and not dead. He was probably just gutted being a tier X and doing the some total of fk all before getting destroyed. hehe

Edited to add you can see the player on the stats board, he was in the T57 Heavy.

The A-44 made me rage in every game I played it. I finished that grind with a 60% win rate but my God there is no other tank in the game that induced rage in me the way that thing did.

I think the combination of no gun depression combined with poor gun handling just pushed the wrong buttons with me.

The Ob416 on the other hand has been a pleasure to drive so far. It still has no gun depression but the gun and the vehicle in general are just fun to play. Not that I have played many games in it so far, but the dozen or so that I have played have all been enjoyable and with zero rage.

Funny how some tanks click and others just don't.
