So finally got my Su-100 crew their first skill and onto the 2nd , thought it was time to upgrade to the SU-152.

Top engine and radio unlocked but sporting the derp 152mm and stock tracks.

Its a fat bh that takes an aeon to reload. Slow and terrible manouverability. Not at all like the su-100

The 152 shells are almost like arty. I think I will try spooning some over some landscape next...

They've opened up for more people to join the World of Warships closed beta. type

This has been and gone on the EU servers, but it looks like the US server is still available.

That's the one I'm on and even with a ping of about 190 from the UK, it's still perfectly playable.

You'll need to create a new Wargaming US account of course.

Good luck. It needs more people. There's only just over 2,000 people on the US server currently, which means it can take a while to get a game against other people.

Fortunately, you can also play against a team of bots instead. You don't get as many credits for those games, but it's good practice. They're not like the useless ones in WoT, they do actually win. They'll focus fire you, cap out and they're pretty bloody good at wrecking you with a torpedo salvo too.

Would be interested in that! Do you need to be premium to participate?
Sounds like a good idea - don't need premium either.

Before we enter we probably need to see how many we can get at the right times and how well we can make it work. Looking at the stats we have some really good players (better than me) so could do well.

Thankfully those type of games (replays) do not happen often otherwise nobody with a brain would play the game.
Am sure a while back somebody posted a replay of a 1 or 2 tier game where 3 tanks where blocking and pushing him and would not let him move until he was dead, these were good players as after they went and wiped the opponents out between them.
Was painful to watch, am pretty sure it was a player on here and if not mistaken it was a Leichttraktor.

Beati sums it up really well. 152 or nothing on the SU.

The thing to remember about HEAT though is it isn't that effective on sloped surfaces, and particularly ineffective on spaced armour. That might explain the few times it failed for you isee. Always try to aim it (I know that's relative at any reasonable distance with the 152mm) to hit as flat a surface as possible, and especially don't shoot at tracks with it.

HE can be a reliable source of damage, albeit low dpm wise, against bunkered in targets though, and always has the chance of knocking out crew and modules. I forget how much I used in the SU but I think I went 50/50 with the HEAT / HE ammo. AP only works on low tier targets, and even then only sometimes, so its a real risk to use it.

tried the HEAT last night, bounced an enemy SU 152 twice. which is not ideal when duelling. lucky he was running a 122mm gun. Still mixed feelings about it though, since it was only a tier 7 battle and I did come away with 3k dmg done and 3 kills, will test some more though, thanks for the explanation.

The above 2 put it right. The 152 with full HEAT loadout.
250 pen and 700 damage at tier 7 is ridiculous. You get trolled occasionally but that's HEAT mechanics and spaced armour/tracks for you. Try to aim at flat surfaces. Saying that 250mm HEAT goes through the front of most things you face no problem. Then they just explode.
I might even re-buy it.
The SU-152 152mm ML-20? So run the gold ammo all the time?

Out of interest, which gun did you use on the SU-100, Rob? It's a machine I know I should like, but just can't seem to perform in it. I'm using the 100mm iirc.

am using the 122, 390 alpha gun. It's one of my best performing tanks in the garage (61%+ win rate http://www.noobmeter.com/player/eu/isee/500538127/...

I run binos, stab and the bit that reduces aim time on it (no camo but camo trained crew)

Regularly pull of ridiculous carries in it and I'd say it's a poor man's E-25. LOVE IT!

keep at it until it clicks is my advice.

I also run the 122mm with a lot of success. The alpha is brutal but so is the reload. I have also run the 100mm successfully too as it still packs a decent punch but quicker reload and better handling do count for something.

However, the 122mm is what makes the SU100 special and is the most fun. I have replaced the fire extinguisher with combat rations to improve the overall handling and have the reload down to just under 13 seconds which is fine.

I don't mind the reload tbh, I rarely get in a situation where I need to trade shots so can happily pull back to safety after a shot if spotted to wait for a reload. But if you miss a shot or need to trade shots until one of you is dead then the 122mm gun might not be enough ofc.

Yes. It's expensive but funny. The reload time limits the choice of ammo so why not just go full gold and write it off to enjoyment.

I also liked the su100. In fact the whole tree is well worth playing. I say that but have never bothered to go to tier 10 as the Object is so good. Also kept the 122-54 as its also very good - Can't understand it's bad rep as it's borderline OP at times (not in corridors against t10 doom machines obviously - or when you get seen any time).

Thats my attitude with the E-100 to be honest, its a tier 10, its got a slow re-load so I might as well as enjoy the satisfying BOOOOOMMMMMMMM of the 15cm gun.

oh no, the 122-54 has depressed my account's win rate by a whole percentage until i grinded past it. hated it with a passion. It was way too quick for my brain so I often ended up somewhere my brain hasn't gotten to yet...

am 75k away from unlocking the E100. Am not enjoying the E-75 as much as expected (which is strange as teh tiger 2 is one of my all time faves) and my stats back that up too... How are you finding the E-100 on a scale of 1-10?

Yeah, that was me. It was tier 1 and a troll platoon of 3 T1 Cunninghams decided to block me off and get me killed.
