World of Tanks (Vol 2)
Discussion
Hurrah!
Got my T7 combat car back!
The US has a promo at the moment where you get 50k each day you log in for a particular period, ending May 9th. If you manage to login 30 different days before then, you get a T7. 60 days gets you an S-100Y. There's something special every multiple of 5 days; a camo net, rammer, vents, binocs, etc.
I should just about get the SU-100Y with a couple of days grace.

Know what you mean regarding the KV2, mine is there for keeps.
Have you tried the Cruiser2 ?
For me as much fun and probably more than the KV2, my fav targets are the Hetzer as one shot and they are gone.
As much as I love my KV2,t he T-150 is actually a more universal tank, highly recommended!Have you tried the Cruiser2 ?

The misery of the IS-8 is unending.
Worry not. The gun makes the tank. It handles pretty well and you pen all comers. The trick is to not expose too much or go too quickly. Arrive fashionably late at the hotspot and blap away. In theory anyway... or arrive early and hull down if possible. I like the thing.Rabidfish said:

I have been getting some decent results here and there, playing it like a giant, stty medium tank with no accuracy or gun depression. I'm only 13,000 off the top gun, then it will hopefully be a much smoother ride up to the IS-7. The penetration boost is certainly welcome, but the jump to .37 accuracy is going to make it for me I think, I currently feel lost on maps like Westfield and Sand River, with such poor accuracy and gun depression, it feels like the IS-8 struggles for spots to utilise on those open maps.I've had a pretty rough night in my KV-2 also, I didn't even get a single one-shot on a full health target, nor did I land any miracle shots. Last night I hit a Jagtiger 88 in the rear of the cabin, or on the engine deck (overmatch ftw), dealing 990 damage. While this is always great, what made it even more memorable is that I was at the church on Lakeville, and the Jagtiger was on the mountain road in the middle of the map
I've been keeping a note of game results, as I posted on the WoT forum that a lot of games seem to end in the region of 15-5. I argued that being so one-sided, these games are not much fun for players on either team only to be countered by someone saying that a lot fewer games end in results like this than people imagine. I've only been recording for the last 9 games because the 2-7 losing streak was enough for me to give up for the day.
p.s. Of the 9 games recorded so far, only 2 have ended with the losing team destroying 2/3 or more of the winning team. I still reckon close games are more fun to play than the one-sided games.

Close games really are the best, I agree. It does seem to have been worse of late too - I can't talk for 9.7 as I cant play for a few days ( away with work ) but the last month or two seems to have been pretty iffy matchmaking wise.
There's 2 issues. The old one, where players 'skill / experience' isn't taken into account in allocating teams - one team getting all the more effective players and the other getting inexperienced often results in a stomping. WG repeatedly say they are not concerned by this and it's no worse now than before I guess.
More recently though the MM seems to be throwing up weird balances in terms of tiers / tank mix. One team getting a 2/3 tank advantage in top tiers, or one team getting mostly heavies whilst the other gets TD's / meds. The top tier advantage is a bugger on most maps although not always too significant, but the tank type mix can be an absolute killer. Given that some of the maps now are so heavily channelled, getting a significant shortage of heavy tanks can be game deciding. Unfortunately the level of teamwork and strategy required to get around a significant HT imbalance is far beyond the level seen in most random matches.
I'd hoped 9.6 had maybe broken something in this regard and that 9.7 would surreptitiously fix it, but I guess it hasn't

Processor overhead would be the main problem. It could be a real frame rate killer on lower spec machines, so people would spam it to get that advantage.
So you'd need to make it configurable...at which point everyone would turn it off.
On lower spec machines, you could just see the effect (ie, view range is diminished/camo increased, same effect as bushes), you wouldn't actually need to show "smoke". Many visuals changes between running on a low spec machine and high, every still plays in the same games though. So you'd need to make it configurable...at which point everyone would turn it off.
In World of Warships, destroyers can lay down a smoke screen to cover themselves and anyone behind them. By default you only get 3 of them to use and there's a fairly long cool down before you can use it again. It does come in handy though; If you get spotted you can use it like a squid uses ink and then GTFO.

Quite different from smoke shells/grenades though, being able to lob a cover screen in WoT would be awesome but it'd be so easily abused too, lob smoke-here's the arty-gg troll Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
