I have a new toy!

It's jolly good. Decided I would like a British premium medium long ago, and with the release of the Cromwell B today, thought that would be the long awaited thing. I totally recommend it, it feels almost better than the standard elited tank, to me - mobility is fantastic, improved even on a Cromwell! It looks pretty slick, too. Also something I wasn't aware of beforehand, is that you get a crew with it (I thought it was just the tank), and they all have BIA from the off, and training the 'second' skill takes only the same time as a first skill would ordinarily - bonus. Oh, and until the 19th there is 5x crew training in these tanks. 9.8k crew xp for this game below.
It took me several games to get one good enough to get the Ace Tanker (standard random teams at work), but here is my first one. 2.8k damage, Confederate, High Caliber.
http://wotreplays.com/site/1857452#airfield-blavod...

Thoroughly recommended!
I totally agree, only had one game last night and don't have the standard Cromwell to compare against, but it got an ace tanker from game one. I have a bad feeling that it will be nerfed though, it's very unlike the WG's policy of selling premium tanks that are better than the already OP standard tank and falls firmly in the "pay to win category"

Quickybaby has done a review of the Cromwell B and the Rudy T-34-85 which I recommend you check out.

It seems that the Cromwell B is identical to the standard Cromwell except that it has even better terrain resistance, which makes it an upgrade over the already very good Standard Cromwell.

The Rudy also seems to have the same stats as the standard T-34-85 but it comes with a dog!! Who doesn't want a dog in their tank?

It gets better though. If you right click on the dog in your garage it barks! It also barks in game when your sixth sense goes off! Now I don't know if the dog comes with its own variety of sixth sense (all dogs have sixth sense as standard anyway) or it is a function of the commanders sixth sense.

At any rate, these two tanks along with an IS-2 are on sale for a limited time with 7500 gold for £51 which does seem like a bit of a bargain. £51 is a lot of money but I am tempted scratchchin

I was extremely tempted by the whole package, I wanted the Rudy especially, being an ethnic Russian myself, but it's not as much of a bargain as first appears. At a first glance you get all three tanks (£21 each on average) for £51, but what you don't get is 1750 extra gold and 60 days premium you would have gotten getting them separately.

Moreover, the T34-85 and the Cromwell are cannibalizing tanks, they fill exactly the same niche, so instead of getting double the fun for double the money you get about 1.15 times the fun through having extra russian crew for double the money.

So the whole package is already bad value for money based on just the two tanks, let alone three. You would be empirically better off choosing an IS2 and one of the mediums rather than all three.

I myself went for just the Cromwell B, seeing as I have zero British representation in my garage and needed a strong tier 6 medium for my T55-A mission grind.

The IS2 I hear is nice and I might still go for it, which would still mean value for money over the entire trio for me.

Moral of the story: Beware of anything in the premium shop with a rather ambiguous "special deal" banner. It is often a convoluted way of extracting more money from you rather than saving you money with deals that actually state "XX% off"

What you say is perfectly correct ofcourse and I hadn't thought of it in that way. However, 60 days premium would be a waste for me at present as I am not playing enough to justify buying a block amount. I am only playing sporadically, a day here and a day there.

I can also use the 7500 gold to unlock the free xp I have accumulated at the more favourable conversion rate on offer this weekend, so thats an added bonus.

For me personally therefore the Parade bundle represents better value than any deal including premium. I guess we just need to tailor our choices based on our personal circumstances.

It is worth mentioning too that apparently the crews of these offer tanks come with BIA already trained and their second skill training costs are treated as if they were the first (just like those female mission crews). The sales pitch doesn't mention this however so I don't know if that is actually true.

Talking of the individual missions. It seems there will be a new set of missions next year, but the current set won't go away even then, so thats good news for those of us still faffing about with those.

IS-2 = £29.57 and Cromwell = £22.20. So the total is £51.77

You also get 7750 gold and 30 days premium.

£51.80 gets the Parade Trio and 7500 gold, and no premum time.

As the 30 days premium would be wasted on me, the parade bundle represents better value for my £51.80. I get the extra tank and only 250 less gold.

Seems a lot of money for some fancy paint.

I just got a free SU-100Y 'Boxtank' on the US server for logging in 60 times. I never played a game, but I'll have it if it's free.

Thanks had to free xp the tracks but had pretty much everything else unlocked. Playing with the big 122 derp.

Had a couple matches seemed to work well, got a 1st in it, Spartan, top gun top damage. Takes a lot of hits not really seeing many bounces lol

I can see it'll be an arty magnet

So I fancy a new vehicle.......

Choice is between:

OBJ 704 - no real desire to play this though
Su-122-54 - really started to enjoy the SU101 towards the end of my career with it and like the idea of the tier X OBJ it leads to
OBJ430-II - i like weird tanks what can i say
t54 - used to have this so long ago it was the top of the med line - fancy a go in the seemingly unstoppable soviet tier X meds
WZ-120 - hmmmmm not so sure

So open to advice!

Mole.

The WZ-120 is just a T-54 with crap turret armour. It's OK though and can be quite effective. The top gun (which I don't have yet) is the same as the tier 10 heavy. Like many tier 9s, it has a hideously long research tree though. My advice is to play the heavy tanks first, as you can unlock the guns and engines via that. Chinese heavies are very good anyway.

Su-122-54 is OK, but the frontal armour isn't very good and it's not that nice to play.

OBJ 704 - great TD. A real predator.

Removed from the gift shop as WG is phasing out premium matchmade tanks over the next few weeks. TOG was one of them, those that have one will keep it, but if you didn't get one, good chance you missed your chance to get one.

Welcome to the brave new world, they pulled the TOG from sale on the PC version recently, it's gone into retirement. It will probably be back as a reward tank, or sold in special events. In the mean time, you're missing out bud wink

It's definitely a novelty tank for some, or most of the people that buy it, but if you put it to work it can really do some damage. The gun is the 17lber, featured on many tanks, but it has very good stats on the TOG. Accuracy, high penetration and a good rate of fire, it can devastate foes at long range, especially if you can hide most of your hull and beat them at the range game.

I think I will take mine out for a spin, just as soon as I get a modern internet connection. Just a few days to go. God I miss WOT.
