Well that didn't take long, the realisation of quite how much I despise the IS-8 has come flooding back. A troll move from WG, putting a good gun on a useless stheap of a chassis. I can't wait to get the IS-7 in 125,000xp, but when I do get it I'll probably be sick of heavy tanks for a while. Oh how I miss the IS-3, and that dominant brawler / bully gameplay style.

Does anyone here have an IS-7? Please regale me of stories of how good they are, so that I may feel compelled to continue this awful grind.
Yeah the IS-7 is pretty good. Takes a while to get the gun figured out, as it's lower pen and less accurate than the IS8 (but a bit better Alpha), but the armour is super troll if you are facing people that don't know what they are doing. It's supposedly getting a gun handling buff in a forthcoming patch, which will make it much more comfortable to play. There is a penetration reduction coming for high tier Meds and Td's too, on the PC at least, which will only make it even stronger.

grinding the IS8, its not a heavy assault tank, its a fast heavy that supports medium tanks, paired with 2 T9 mediums its a very effective machine providing the 500 alpha knock out punch while the mediums flank, but, it's no in your face heavy.

I found the IS7 the worst T10 tank out, it would often miss its target or the shot would bounce. the armour is weak and my Deathstar would 1 shot them if I could get a side shot on it.

But others love it, its a up close and personal tank, but you need back up to survive.

Struggling with my T-43. In theory it should be an upgraded T-34-85, a tank which I enjoyed over 650 battles in. However, I'm finding that the gun is simply insufficient at T7.

Oh I know that, it's just a shame that it's armour is crap and and it's not small, or even especially mobile, and the lack of gun depression kill it's flexibility in a way that the real medium tanks don't suffer as badly with. I know it gets the "big medium tank" tag, but imo it's more just a st heavy than a big medium. The gun is by a country mile, the best, or perhaps only good thing about this tank.

I'm looking forward to raging through the rear-turret medium line biggrin

Why can I not now buy a TOG II? I demand satisfaction!
They have retired it, but the small print basically stated that it will be back in the future.

Was not the only tank they retired, think it was just a prompt for revenue earning on the part of WoT

Just had a phenomenal game in the Panther - tier 8, 3k damage and my mastery badge. What made it even better - in 2nd place on my team was Quickybaby in a panther 8.8. 1250base exp as well. Showed him how to do itsmile

Sadly i had a CTD on exit and so have neither screenshot or replay to show you allfrown

Good job, Quickybaby is an absolute beastman.

I've nearly finished the IS-8 grind of misery, with just 29,000xp left to go for the first tier 10 I ever really wanted - it's only taken me a year and a bit to get it unlocked. I've got 11 million silver in the bank, so once I've sold the IS-8 and it's equipment I'll have around 15 million, so I'll drop down to 8 million once the big IS-7 is bought and decked out. I can't wait to get stuck in with it, I already feel that a well-played IS-8 can hold it's own, I'm really looking forward to using a tank more suited to aggressive playing and close fighting. I've put about 120,000xp into the IS-8 since Wednesday, so I've really gotten to grips with it. I won't miss it.

I also picked up a Löwe, I like to have a good arsenal of high-earning premiums to keep the dough rolling in. I'll be using the Löwe, T34 and to a lesser extent the AT-15A to keep the silver flowing while I work up the second Russian medium line. The AT-15A is rumoured to be getting a buff in the next update, hopefully my message to the developers did the trick. The Löwe is great fun, but not especially easy to use, being big, slow and not brilliantly armoured. The giant tracks and reasonable side armour can be used to absorb shots quite effectively, at least with with 80mm of side armour it can't be overmatched by many guns, though I'd like to see if buffed to 100mm to bring it in line with the PC, so that it effectively couldn't be overmatched by anything short of a T92. The gun is great, with very strong penetration, .33 accuracy and 2.85 second aim time. It loses a little alpha and pen compared to the T34 gun, not to mention the smaller calibre costing a few overmatch opportunities, but imo the aim time and accuracy make up for it. As an E-75 found out last night, his angled lower plate at 500m on level ground was just getting penetrated every time. What a wonderful thing. I also think it's the best looking tank in the game, or at least one of them. I love the turret, and the huge gun. I also really like the way the mantlet looks like a knight's lance, it's got a real medieval feel about it.

Yes, nice one MoleVision. I've been in a couple of games with QB on my team & you feel a sense of responsibility somehow. The Panther is also hard to ace because of its lacklustre alpha damage. I've never done it anyway.

I like the looks of the Lowe as well - and its little brother, the Indien Panzer. I've played it a few times on the test server, but as ever with the test server, you're always in tier 10 games where it's too slow to be very effective. It plays like the Tiger II apparently, so a good long range fighter. It doesn't have a great reputation because a lot of noobs buy it due to its looks and get into trouble.

Do some personal missions for quick and easy cash.

Also did nothing but Tier 6 Strongholds this weekend mostly, made 2m profit whilst not even aiming for silver. Was immense fun.

Those the LT/MT/HT/R ones that lead to free tanks? I've done all but the arty ones up to 12/13ish where I need to group up I think(for the stug?), will sort that out when I am back from the uk. Not tried strongholds.

Yes, the higher levels pay a lot more. I get 200k per main mission objective on the T55-A ones.

Tier 6 Strongholds is an excellent way to grind credits and train crews.

Yesterday we played 30 Strongholds games (only lost 2). I played mostly the Cromwell Berlin and was averaging 30k net profit per game. The games were usually over within 3 or 4 minutes so that was 30k every 3 or 4 minutes!

I ended up making about a million credits over those games, and got the Cromwell crew up to 90% of their first skill too (they came with BIA already on them).

There was a crew xp event this weekend which helped too ofcourse. But still, it had to be the easiest and quickest million credits and crew training I have ever experienced.

1 million credits and 90% on your crew skills in 2 hours? Sure, why not. smokin

Hi Chaps,

I sent a chap a message on Friday after having a cracking game praising his play where we formed an ad-hoc platoon by holding the flank by ourselves for a good 10min with just a TOG and ELC against overwhelming odds :-)

Short story after a bit of chat he invited me onto his clans team speak channel and I played a bunch of games with him and his mates over the evening and had a good time and some successful games- it really alters the way it plays with voice chat.

Anyone on the Pistonheads clan use TS? I see 2-4 people are on most time I play and say hello in text chat but I guess you're busy playing.

I've only got a handful of tanks and a couple of Tier 6 so not the easiest for good, regular players to platoon with I know but I always seem to be bottom tier so not that fussed.

I normally play tanks Monday nights (occasionally at other times but not a proper lengthy session) so if anyone wants to platoon with team speak drop me a message in game (Scubadude_1) even if you just want to use me as cannon fodder its all XP :-)

I couldn't imagine playing without voice chat, it's great to to be able to explain on the fly what you're doing and what you want from your platoon without them having to guess - in heated situations I wouldn't want my hands off the controls for even a second to type - though typing is slow as hell without the Xbox chat pad, though I don't have one of those, since everyone just uses their headsets.

I can't wait to get back on tonight and blow some st up. Man I love and hate WOT.
