World of Tanks has now arrived on the Xbox One, for a two day beta at least. Map rotation is limited during the beta, but I've been having fun despite a pretty poor selection of corridor maps.

The graphics are incredible, the new sounds amazing, a huge step up from anything I've previously heard in WOT, they're so rich and textured, the maps look amazing and the amount of detail that has been crammed in is certainly impressive. The same idiot-centric gameplay remains, but that will never change.

I've actually been playing my T-14 as it just looks so gorgeously rendered, a tank I normally hate. This is absolutely incredible.

I was watching Wargaming's WoT for Xbox One steam on Twitch. They said that both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions are going to get a PvE mode via an update later this month (the 28th I think).

So, just like World of Warships, this will allow people to practice against bots and grind lousy stock ships & tanks.

That's pretty cool, and something that's desperately needed for the PC version too IMHO.

That would be pretty amazing. I think I read a while back about plans for such a thing, hope they can get it up and running. I guess if its possible on the XBox it shouldn't be beyond their wit to get it on the PC version too - would take a lot of frustration out.

I've just been getting excited over the fact you can read the word "Hotchkiss" stamped on the front of the Micro Maus, the detail is insane.

In other news I'm looking forward more and more to the new light tanks, but also the Japanese heavies and artillery. The Walker Bulldog and the American light with the derp cannon might give me reason to finally give me ex-Pershing crew something to do other than wreck n00bs in the T34.

Knocking off some missions for some reason on an upgrade it lost some so now have to go back and redo some. Top xp in a LT.. hmm.. again..

Hmm typically t5 in a t8 game. :/

I'm doing some of the first light tank missions with the T71. Some of them are so situational. I need to cap or stop them capping and kill a tank for the secondary. Well that could take a while.

I don't think the heavy damage spotting missions will be as bad as I first thought though. I had a 4K spotting game yesterday and a 7.9K spotting one today. I just parked up in a bush and fought the strong temptation to shoot at stuff or run off.

The new Xbox-style pop up ribbons that tell you when you've spotted things and have helped your allies are really helpful.

On PC it's only your own tank that may or may not be a hi-res model.

All the others, including tanks of the same type as yours, are the regular resolution.

Depends on your graphics settings. Any tank that has a high res model shows up as high res on mine, though I do have everything set to maximum.

Sorry, yes it's the hi-res texture (if available) that's set to maximum only on your tank.

If there's a HD model, the game will always use that. Provided you've selected the larger HD download of course.

I downloaded the beta for the xbox one at the weekend and picked up from my 360 progress (stopped playing about 12 months ago) and really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately non of my old WoT playing friends managed to join me (I was the only one managing to get past the G22 error) but it seemed everyone else was in a similar boat.

Just got into tier 7 (bought an IS after maxing out the KV1-S.... not sure it's any good?) and have a M4A3E8 that I love (even though friends with more experience in WoT tell me how terrible it is).

I had some good games (got 16 spotted damage ribbons in one game) and some bad (got stuck between rice paddys and couldn't move).

If anyone in the one/360 community needs some cannon fodder then feel free to add me (simo1863).

Also, after a bit of advice if you could all be so helpful, what's the biggest change in the last 12 months? Is there anything I should be avoiding (don't say IS) or heading toward?

There seems to be a lot less artillery than there used to be.

Despite my highest tier tank being a Russian heavy I actually prefer a quicker/glass cannon style or even just spotting and being a nuisance (I'm not overly experienced in the game but I know enough to to realise that isn't really what a Russian Heavy is for!).

Your friends probably don't know as much about the game as they think they do, the E8 is a very good tank, good mobility, dun depression, frontal armour is solid, good gun etc. Tier for tier I think it could be the strongest US medium tank.

The IS is ok, it's a bit of a let down after the KV-1S as it gets the same guns, albeit with better gun handling stats, but the opposition is now stronger and one-shots don't really happen on anything but some lights and SPGs. It's also dreadful when you are grinding the 122mm out again, playing the IS with the 85mm gun is horrendous to the point of being utterly miserable, but once it's upgraded it has a decent gun and a decent engine, the armour is not amazing though. Where the Tiger is a support / sniper heavy and the T29 is a hull-down monster, the IS functions best as a brawler for bullying lower tier tanks.

They're selling the French LeFH18B2 arty in the EU premium shop for a limited period. It was removed because is was rather OP to say the least.

It's quite pricey at £21.42, but you get a garage slot, 5,750 Gold & 30 days of premium.

If you want one, they're available until the server reset, early Thursday morning.

That's a fair deal if you generally maintain a premium account anyway, 5,000 gold gets you 2 more months and leaves you with 750 for demounting/frivolous expenditure, so it's £6 a month and a tank for peanuts.

It's actually as OP as fk and they're infesting the mid tiers at the moment. GJ Wargaming.

Ok so I have a T25/2 and a T25 AT. T28 and T28 prot unlocked. Crews similar xp (90/95% first skill).

Both are about $2.5mil (I have 1.5).

One crew is going back to a woverine I think , loved playing that.

Think I prefer the turreted t25/2 but the T28 prot is less mobile, but likely the one to go for?

I was in a similar postion with both T25/2 and Hellcat. In the end I sold the T25/2 and started down the light tree with the crew. Didn't fancy either of the T28 variants. Sorry, not much help hehe

Kept the Hellcat yes

I'd seriously consider stopping both lines at the tier 7's to be honest, and like Teknopug says put the crews into the tier 6's you prefer. I'd only go on with either line if you really want either of the tier 10's, and in that case just choose which one, grit your teeth and crack on with it wink

Playing through the T28 Prot was probably the most painful grind I've had in the game - its horribad until you get the top gun, then just bad until you unlock the T30. Far too slow, armour that's only effective against numpties or when top tier, and anyway easily overcome by premium ammo. The T30 was probably worse, so abandoned it fairly quickly (admittedly it wasn't fully upgraded so maybe a little unfair).

I've not played the T28 from the Wolverine line, but imagine its more of the same without the flexibility of a turret offset by a higher rate of fire. Then you get the T95 which I can't even imagine playing in the current meta that favours mobility and high tier Arty.

my opinion of the E100 Jagerpanzer line is to stop at the JP2, the JT and Jaegeru are not worth the grind.
