I got the Russian A-44 yesterday, which is a tier 7 medium tank. I already had the top gun, engine & radio from other tanks, so it's not completely stock.

Despite that, the MM was trolling hard. Even games with XVM predictions in the 60 percents, the team somehow contrived to lose. In the end it took 10 games to get the first win. mad

In that game we were doing OK and I starting to move in on their arty when my internet dropped out. Fortunately we still won, but I didn't get as much XP as I could have done.

I've just been watching some of the new tanks that are coming with the 9.3 update for the PC, some of the light stuff looks really cool, even though I've never bothered with lights.

I'm having a week semi-off WOT, I need to finish Dishonored, so I'll be hammering that on the week nights, so I can start Destiny at the weekend. I'll probably try and catch a double a day in my ISU-152, but won't give the game much time until the weekend. The MM trolled me so hard last night, I lost 6 matches in a row in my ISU-152, before winning for the double, but only getting 500xp in the process. Talk about rage, I couldn't land a shot to save my life.

My commiserations. It's an absolute stter.

It teaches you how to sidescrape and has a decent gun(from the heavy line, so as you said, it doesn't take much to get it fully equipped), these are its redeeming features.

However, the complete lack of gun depression will continually shock you with how unplayable and how little fun it is as a result. Watch for pebbles, cigarette papers and even the smallest slopes.

My personal best in it was losing the engine (at the front) four times in one game, complete with fuel tank and driver. You're almost guaranteed to lose the engine every game and a tracking WILL put you side on to the trackee, given its speed.

I couldn't bring myself to play it more than the minimum required for the doubles.

49% win rate in the A-44, which surprised me that it was that high. Compares badly to the 62% I had for the IS, though.

Sickening when that sort of thing happens.

Oh don't worry, I've noticed the engine gets knocked out a lot. This tank requires a full repair crew to have a fighting chance.

It was a toss up whether to get it or the T-43, but that's not great either and I've played it before.

The preceding A-43 was utter garbage too. One of the worst tanks in the game.

I hated every second in the A-44 despite a 61% win rate. The rear mounted turret I could live with but the total lack of gun depression was the deal breaker for me and I couldnt get out of it quick enough.

The good points are that it does have fairly reliable frontal armour and side scraping is very effective. I recently held a corridor in Himmelsdorf against 2 AT15 TDs by sidescraping.

The gun is very punchy indeed but the poor gun handling ruined it for me and it trolled me hard most games.

And thats where the good news ends for me. The engine is constantly getting damaged and the lack of gun depression has cost me games that I would have otherwise carried.

Good riddance hurl

The A-43 on the other hand I really enjoyed. I hear lots of people complaining about it but I really don't see why. Maybe it just somehow agreed with me, but for whatever reason I did end up with a 68% win rate in it and enjoyed every minute of it.

Regarding the T-43 I would say get it and stick at it. It wasn't a bad tank. Not good either but not god awful. The T-44 after it I also found to be underwhelming, but....they lead to the T-54 which you absolutely positively want in your garage and makes that grind so worthwhile.

I've done the original Russian medium tree and have had the T-62A since last year.

The A-43 is fast, but the gun is just too weak to carry the inevitable st teams the MM puts you in. If I wanted that, I'd play a light tank.

I had a 72% win rate with the M7. It doesn't make it a good tank. It just means I got lucky with the MM.

I got the M48 for the free T-shirt, not played it yet (need to grind out the gun); the crew are about to get into the T69. Or will when I can be bothered - going to knock a couple more of the T7's out first.

The gun depression is the killer. The poor aim time, engine damage, rear turret and ridiculous turret weakspot just make it worse.

Ok so I need some advice.

I have decided to embark on the long (and probably painful) grind to the Bat Chat. I can unlock the AMX 13 75 but I know exactly nothing about this tank, or any of the French tanks really.

So can anyone give me any hints tips or information on how to play this thing or what to expect from it?

If it truely sucks, should I just free xp to the AMX 13 90?

All I can tell you is that these can be great fun.

Get it right and you can do awesome powerslides in them - have a potent gun as well but with limited movement.

^ That's the ELC AMX, which has limited turret traverse. Decent gun though. The later tanks have fully rotating turrets.

I've played & elited the AMX 12T , but haven't bought the AMX 13 75 yet. I imagine it's more of the same, just with a better gun. Small, fast and agile like the American T71. Deadly against low health or distracted enemies and late on in games when the map has thinned out somewhat.

I haven't heard it's a bad tank and wouldn't personally skip it. Whether it'll be left behind by the new American lights I don't know. The US tier 7 Walker Bulldog can have a 10 shot autoloader and seems to be a nice tank when I tried it.

As ever with light tanks, you're very team dependent. So more often than not, you end up having to get stuck in when you'd rather not, in an effort to save their sorry arses. That's why I really rate the Chinese WZ-131; It has the top gun from the tier 8 medium and is good enough to make a difference.

You can always download and try it on the test server first.

I was very tempted to buy the E25 Premium... however I think I am going to try and grind the ELC. Dont think I would survive at tier 7 in the E25

It doesn't truly suck but its not a 1390. I did this line when it first came out. I skipped up to the 12t and did a couple of games, it sucked. I skipped it to the 1370 and did a couple of games and it was a big improvement but all my friends had 1390s so I skipped up to it. wink

Whoops, egg on face moment for WG. They released the weekend event statement today, which includes loads of easy consumables missions, double crew xp for every battle etc, but they also included the "50% off equipment sale", so naturally everyone on the WOT360 forum became excited at the prospect of selling their gear full price, buying an enormous surplus on cheaply purchased low tier tanks, then selling the surplus after the event, creating enormous amounts of silver in the process. Of course, this is an exploit and WG wouldn't be happy about it, the they removed the equipment sale from the event, and said it was the the "wrong version" of the event bulletin they posted, that they were aware of the exploit and had tested a solution to stop people using it, but couldn't make it workable and had not intended to run the equipment sale anyway. Personally, I think they pulled it because there were so many high profile threads on the official forum with everyone rubbing their hands in anticipation and passing on details of how the scam works.

Also, the IS has done a U-turn, as I expected it would, after I unlocked the 122mm gun for it, and I swapped it over, taking that 85mm pop gun off in the process. It doesn't feel quite as ludicrously powerful as the KV-1S did with the same gun (something that isn't going to continue for much longer on the PC at least), but it can really hold it's own now, instead of being a spectator. I also got the tier 9 engine for it, and now it's really good. Fast, agile and not terribly armoured, there is nothing on the battlefield that shouldn't be concerned when the IS has it's sights. Apart from the Tortoise maybe, because hitting hatches at range isn't easy with this thing.

EDIT: Just killed my first tier 10! As I've only played about 25 games in my Tiger II with the top gun unlocked (frankly, the other two don't have the pen or ROF to really fight tier 10s), I have until now, never killed a tier 10, as far as I can remember. Given that I only have 3 tier 8 tanks, the Tiger II, the JagPanther II, which I have only played a few games in, I thought the ISU-152 would be the tank that started killing tier 10s for me, and I just did that by nailing an FV215b 183 in the side of the turret with the 152 derp. BOOOOOM. I can't wait to unlock the BL-10.

I was rather pleased with myself after this one. Not as great as some I've seen on here, but hey... In a way, I prefer getting Confederate medals to Top Guns.

EDIT - I rushed in to the other room to tell the missus about it. You can guess the response hehe
