Lol @ Missus "What are you playing that silly tank game again" This usually comes from my missus!

Good job on spotting, did something similar in my T9 Patton, was actually backed up by my team for once and we annihilated one of their flanks

Ok so I need some advice.

I have decided to embark on the long (and probably painful) grind to the Bat Chat. I can unlock the AMX 13 75 but I know exactly nothing about this tank, or any of the French tanks really.

So can anyone give me any hints tips or information on how to play this thing or what to expect from it?

If it truely sucks, should I just free xp to the AMX 13 90?
It doesn't truly suck but its not a 1390. I did this line when it first came out. I skipped up to the 12t and did a couple of games, it sucked. I skipped it to the 1370 and did a couple of games and it was a big improvement but all my friends had 1390s so I skipped up to it. wink

The French lights got nerfed though. I got as far as the lorry pre-nerf and loved them. But afterwards they lost their best guns (13/75 now has same gun as 12t)
They can still be fun but need careful play. The lorraine is v.similar to the t8 amx 50/100. Batchat is great.

I think all the 'light' french tanks are very team dependent. You can't afford to brawl with anything because no armour. Play sniper or hit and run.

Thanks for the info. After some deliberation I think I will jump right in at tier 8 with the AMX 13 90. I have enough free xp to do this as I already have the tier 6 unlocked since forever as I enjoy the odd romp in the ELC AMX.

I will move the crew from my FCM PAK40 and retrain them in the 13 90 and fill the remaining crew slots with new 100% guys. My Pak40 has an elite crew with 6th sense etc but as I don't really play tier 3 anymore they are wasted in the Pak40. There is a crew training/retraining discount this weekend so it is the ideal time to do this.

Bat Chat here I come (eventually)

You won't need any extra crew; The French light/medium line from tier 6 all have a 3 man crew in this layout:

Commander (Radio Operator, Loader)
Gunner (Loader)
Driver

I had another play on the test server last night. They've issued a small update, so the previous settings were reset.

They've suspended the suicide detection system for now as they can't get it to differentiate accidental self damage from deliberate.

The old T49 (now T67) looks like it's had a lobotomy, because the elite turret is now open top. It won't make any difference to survivability, as it always got one shot by arty and derp guns anyway. In fact it's a bit of a buff as the view range has increased from 350m to 370m.

I gave the tier 5 KV-1S a go for the first time too. It was already fully unlocked and just has to be purchased. I stuck a new 100% crew in and fitted the derp gun. It was only a six-a-side game but I managed to one shot a T67 and beat up a couple of other tanks before we won. I think it will be a lot of fun in this configuration. If you get other derp KV-1S' to shoot your tracks you can eat a lot of damage. A repair crew would be good, so you can get moving again quickly and get after them.

It's now a sideways step from the KV-1, so anyone wanting to play the IS-3 line either has to play it or jump over from the medium line from the KV-13.

I also tried the tier 9 Waffle, which I've now unlocked on the live server, but can't afford yet. I fitted the stubby second gun from the Borsig. First game was full off the new tier 8 light tanks & I got wrecked by one of the new derp T49s. They'll be a pain for all the Waffle family. It didn't kill me, but knocked out a couple of modules and 3 crew.

3rd game on Lakeville and I got the Ace Tanker with just shy of 5K damage. Set an object 140 on fire for 1k damage, 2 shot a Foch 155 and killed a WTF E100 with a nice 900+ HE shot. Even started a brawl with an Object 268 before he was nailed by my team mate from across the lake. tongue out

It's so much more dangerous than the Jagdtiger. I might sell that and get the waffle instead.

Urgh, this ISU-152 is really making this game a fking miserable experience right now. The 152mm derp is a monster at tier 5-7, but not so hot at 8, poor at 9 and without using HEAT, terrible against tier 10s. It's a shame that the ISU-152 seems to be a lot more vulnerable at it's tier than the SU-152 was at tier 7, the ISU without the BL-10 is a bit of a joke I think.

I'm told that it becomes a bit of a monster with the BL-10, capable of causing serious trouble to any tank, even tier 10s. However, the stupid package system we're stuck with on the Xbox means that if I want upgraded tracks and engine, I need to take the 122mm gun, which doesn't cut it at all against higher tiers, so I'm stuck with the derp, a less powerful engine than one I have researched and standard tracks. Even with clutch braking at 90% and rising, it's still a slow, ungainly bus. I quite enjoyed the SU but this is causing me to lose the will to live. I played a few games with George who posts in this thread occasionally, he was in his newly obtained T-28 tier 8 TD, with only minor upgrades, and we just got fking stomped. I think we had one good match and 5 fking dire ones.

Just to add not long after you left I played the T28 in a mainly Tier 5 and 6 game on the one with the big bridge going across all the railway tracks, can't remember the name, I think you said it was banned on the PC? Anyway two mediums helped me to the top of the bridge where I promptly destroyed or crippled anything I had a line of sight on. I was trying to track some tanks for the arty to get and ended up just blasting them away. I even got a couple of messages after from people on my team thanking me for my help, never had that on this game. Just the game I needed after Mastodon quite rightly put getting stomped!

Yeah that would be the Port map. I think I've only ever made a successful run of using the bridges a handful of times, every time I get up there in a tank with enough gun depression to make a go of it, someone shreds me from the side. I did have a good time up on the western bridge once in the SU-152, as I managed to penetrate the belly of the enemy tanks as they crested the ridge up onto the flat part of the bridge. Getting hit for 900 damage does cause panic, but if any of them had just pushed on at me they'd have kicked my arse with the 15 seconds or so the 152mm gun takes to reload.

After playing Destiny for a few hours I got back on WOT, the run of bad luck continued. Saying as they're giving free consumables away to the top XP earning players, I feel like the MM/RNGtroll has conspired against me to ensure that I can't get up there, though I've collected a few repair and medikits this evening, my luck did turn around a bit in the IS, but the ISU has been doomed to failure this evening. Apart from one match where I one-shotted a tier 7 scout, got a few hits in a T95 and then slung a 152mm shell up the back door of a tier 9 T30 for the kill, it was business as usual - being spotted and swarmed by gunfire before dying a horrible death.

1. Spot target
2. Begin aiming
3. Sixth Sense goes off
4. Detected! goes off
5. Still aiming
6. "We're hit!"
7. Hit 2000hp enemy for 300hp damage
8. "Gunner is dead!"
9. "Track is hit!"
10. "Bail out, this vehicle has had it!"

55,000xp to go until I get the BL-10 and this thing starts to feel dangerous again.

All that jazz

I was very tempted to buy the E25 Premium... however I think I am going to try and grind the ELC. Dont think I would survive at tier 7 in the E25
E25 is basically an ELC on steroids, with a near auto-loader gun if you fit the rammer. E25 is much more survivable imho. ELC requires you to drive at full speed whilst looking backwards in order to avoid the shots from all the tanks you've just lit up. This is hard work to do even on relatively open maps and unless you know the maps and obstacle locations VERY well it's nigh on impossible to do on the cluttered maps and you will quickly die when you drive into the side of a house and come to a halt.

You will also quickly tire of friendlies shouting "GO SKAUT!" and ramming their tanks into you if you dare to passive scout in a bush, or worse, team killing you.

The ELC isn't actually a very good scout as its radio has a lousy 300m range. Even the tier 4 Japanese light has a 350 m range.

You might think you're lighting up a load of stuff, but if you're too far ahead, your team won't see them.

Besides, throwing it away in the first minute of the game is a waste of its 170 pen / 240 damage gun. You don't get this potential again until the autoloading version on the AMX 13 90 at tier 8.

I played it mostly as a passive scout / tank destroyer / pain in the arse and got 235 kills in 235 games.

It's crazy that you can't use the upgraded tracks & engine with the big derp gun. Despite the rate of fire, the SU and ISU are just too slow and lumbering to use anything but the derp or BL-10 effectively.

I found 152mm HE to be far too unreliable and changed the order so that it loaded premium (HEAT) ammo by default. You don't really shoot often enough to lose money, although it's annoying when it misses.

If you're stalking something soft like a waffle, then definitely load HE. You'll smash the st out of it. biggrin

The other day I nailed a Borsig on about 700 health with a HE shot from the stock gun on my own Borsig. I knew he was coming, so I switched to HE. He was not happy and accused me of camping. Errr... yeah it's a TD bro. Cry me a river.

Once you get the BL-10 you will make tier 10s cry too. With 268 pen / 750 damage on even standard AP rounds you don't need to use premium at all.

Na, its a good tank and fun to play. I wouldn't have had so many games with it if it wasn't.

If they tell you to go scout, tell them to fk off.

When I played it, it could get into tier 9 games, where scouting really was the only option. I did take out a T95 once though.

Now the highest is sees is tier 8.

Yeah I keep a stock of premium on all tanks, I've had some matches in the SU/ISU where I've been firing premium by accident when HE would have done and thinking "This thing is a monster today!" Then I see my ammo bill after the fight. 6000 silver a shot, it ain't a cheap tactic!

It's worth it though. One day I'll get the SU-152 back and try it with just HE.

The new tier 7 American light, the Walker Bulldog can use a 10 shot autoloader.

Firing a full clip of HEAT will cost you 56,000 silver. yikes

Because WoT, like all right-thinking people, hates the Xbox. Buy a decent machine (hint: PC) to run the game on, and you'll get decent tanks.

Sadly, the team they assigned to developing the xbox game flubbed the development, and it came to beta 6 months late, so they went for a package system rather than individual modules as it was quicker to code. They've now said it would take too much effort and resource to now implement modules, as they are focused on maps and tank lines, so we're stuck with it. I did remember seeing an advert for WOT360 early in 2013, and then not hearing anything about it for nearly a year until it was released in early 2014. When they initially advertised it, they had been hoping to start beta testing imminently for a summer 2013 release, but when it eventuall dropped in February this year, they'd made a load of concessions just to get it out the door, such as only have 5 maps, on having standard battle mode (not that the alternatives are an improvement, it must be said), only Germany, US and UK tanks and even then only limited lines. They have done a lot of work so far with a big update practically every month adding more maps, weather conditions, night mode and tanks, but it does annoy me that they won't fix the package system.

Hopefully when they do WOT for the Xbox One they'll make a better job of things.

I tried the SU-152 again (with the derp gun) on the test server.

HE is just too unreliable. I was doing only 250 damage to heavy tanks, which just isn't good enough. The poor penetration of AP rounds (135mm) makes them completely unusable IMHO. I wouldn't even bother carrying any.

I think the best way is to fire mostly HEAT (250mm pen) and only fire HE if you know what you're up against a soft target.

In one game I shot a SU-122-44 in the front with HEAT and it wrecked him. Knocked off almost 800 of his 840 hit points. I think he was pretty sour about his life after that. I also missed a light tank at range and killed a KV-85 that I couldn't even see in that game. biggrin

You can pretty much get one of the new “Shoot to Kill” medals every game in this TD. This is for inflicting more damage than the hit points of your tank. The SU-152 has 870 hit points and you can do more that in 2 shots. Potentially in 1 shot if it's a waffle you hit it with HE.

Just had one of those games that leave you all shaky. the good, close ones that are the reason for playing, the ones that you don't forget for a while.

Tier 9 game, we had 37% chance to win (for what thats worth), and I'm in Arty (GW Tiger P) so not really a carry tank...

Gets down to one on one, me vs AMX AC48. The word is tense...
