Russian medium? Its off, like the tiger, was a beast in WWII but quite different in WOT. Its not so quick, no armour, the zis cannon is fast and has good pen though, snipe away.
The Chinese version, which is even worse. I think it has the worst gun depression of of mid or front turreted tank, it's absolutely atrocious. The accuracy is listed at .34 but there must be some soft stat voodoo going on as this thing is not even close to it's advertised accuracy values. All it has going for it is decent pen and good DPM - but you can't use the DPM as you don't have the armour to hang out in the open shooting and it doesn't have the gun depression or power to fight on ridgelines. This is a total gatekeeper tank, nothing more. You endure this to be rewarded further down the line - every line in the game has at least one of these rotboxes on it. It just happens I think this is the worst of all the ones I've played so far.
What a let down, especially after the M4A1 at tier 4, which is a bloody great tank.
I've been playing and raging with the KV4 as it is so situational and I got is so many tier 10 matches last night.
I wasn't going to upgrade the engine and just save the XP for the ST-I.
If anyone else plays the KV4, upgrade the engine! It makes such a difference to how manoeuvrable the thing is.
Now to try and improve my win rate and WN8 rating after last night's utter shambles!

Yep I have the same issue with the KV4 turret, at least against top end tier 8 heavies / TD's. A T34 and T28 Prot did this to mine
Wiggling a bit seems to help, but it's not reliable. Tank is getting a ROF and aim time buff judging by the current state of Patch 10.0, which will be nice. Aim time reduction will certainly help to reduce turret exposure during aiming, allowing you to keep it angled more of the time.

The T34/T28's gun is very high pen though. It's higher than some tier 9 heavies like the E75 and WZ-111 1-4. Most mediums and other tier 8 heavies are going to struggle with you. I had to hit the top gun turret right in the middle with my WZ-111 1-4 to hurt one with AP.
I like the relentless "creeping death" of the KV-4. Reminds me of the Motorhead song "Steal Your Face":
He moves so slowly but he's coming after you
Nowhere to hide and not a thing that you can do

Mastery achieved in the Scorpion.
However, it is somewhat odd. Although I played pretty well and finished top of my team that seems like a pretty low score to achieve an 'M'.
I guess it's because there aren't many Scorpions in the game?
That's it, it will be a fairly small sample size you'll have to top out. It's quite easy to get Ace Tankers in rarer tanks, something like a Tetrarch or a BT-SV doesn't take a lot of effort as hardly anyone has them and those that do don't tend to use them often, so you don't need to post a massive score. However, it is somewhat odd. With regard to your KV-4 turret, it's very strong, one of the strongest tier-for-tier turrets in the game easily. However, you came up against two American tanks with hellishly strong guns, the 120mm has 248mm pen with AP and 297 with APCR. The flat front face of your turret is about 185mm around the mantlet, and the mantlet itself is about 310mm-ish, jumping to 340 on the curved bits at the top and 360 at the bottom. If I was in my T-34, given it's imprecise and slow-loading gun, I'd load APCR to shoot the turret of a KV-4 from the front to give me a better chance of a pen. A high roll on APCR could go through the mantlet, which is most likely what's happened there. When attacking from the sides or rear I just shoot the flattest part. Most of the time when I don't have huge amounts of pen available and I'm attacking from the front I shoot the top hatch, it's pretty big and 180mm-ish, so most guns at tier 8 can pen it without issue.
I imagine a glass cannon like the Scorpion is played rather badly by a lot of people. I haven't had a go with one, but I hear it's like the Hellcat really. If you know what you're doing you can be quite OP with it. If you don't, you'll be too aggressive and die in the first 3 minutes.
As for small sample sizes, that's true too. I've just got Ace Tanker with the tier 4 Panzer IV Ausf D in only its second game. All it took was 1,100 damage and 3 kills.
I would have nailed the SU-85 too, but we capped out.

I've had a right st time with these Chinese mediums, up to the Type 58 now which is an improvement over the Type T-34 but not by much. After getting nailed by artillery and the rest of my platoon raging out, I decided to become part of the problem. The Conqueror Gun Carriage was wheeled out of the garage and the bombardment started. In my first game I hit a T110E3 for 1700-odd damage, not quite full health as someone else had got a shot into him first, but it was enjoyable to send him back to the garage with no recourse. In my next match, a T-54 was given similar treatment with a full-health shot - a massive overkill given my 2200 average roll on penetration. They were my only one-shots aside from some enemy arty pieces, the rest of the night was similarly successful with multiple 5500+ damage games. I contested a Bombardier medal a few times but sadly it was not to be. I did lol when I shot at a Waffle auf E-100, the shot went long and landed behind him but the splash was 800 damage and I saw his gun damaged icon flash up, later in the post-game screen I saw that I killed his gunner and loader too. What a lol.
I'm going for my first Mark of Excellence on this thing, so I've got 19 premium shells on board and 5 regular. Same pen and damage but the premium get 11m splash whereas the standard rounds get a paltry 7m. Tbh I'm just going to shoot premium forevermore in this thing, any losses I make I can just earn back by playing my tier 8 premiums. I'm losing about 1000-5000 silver on a win depending on accuracy, and 20,000 on a loss so it's hardly cripplingly expensive, even if the premium shells are 8000 silver a pop.

Another successful session in the CGC as I work towards the first MoE, tonight's one-shots included a Jagdtiger who confused "arty safe" with "CGC safe" and an AMX 50b who was just in the wrong place a minute into a match, seeing that "2100" flash up on the screen was a good feeling. A few more chances to get the Bombardier medal but I just missed out, I can feel it coming in the future.
I also picked up my Ace Tanker in the CGC today, it was a Karelia standard battle where my team pretty much failed everywhere and I was left in a last stand against a few enemy tanks. It was a 7 kill round, but only 3500 damage - which is remarkable considering I've done 6500+ before and not had an Ace. I think the difference this time around was that the majority of the damage was against tier 10s, with all of the tier 8s and 9s I killed being 100 damage taps. A lot of the damage against tier 10s was done while I was spotting my own targets, which makes a huge difference to XP earned.
Some sort of medal reset fkup has occurred too, as all of the Gore's medals I picked up in my first 100 or so games have disappeared. Annoying.

Sometimes mm and rng makes me hate playing my M40/43, then you just have 'that' game where you one shot a full health Tiger II, pick up a bombardier for killing 2 mediums that thought they were smarter than they were. I did however get killed due to our team leaving a whole flank open and only a 2nd class mastery after dishing out 4k damage.
Edited to add I did finally get my 1st mark of excellence in that game though!

Congratulations on the Bombardier, after 1500+ games in artillery I'm still waiting on mine. It always feels just a hair away when I'm in the CGC, just needs some dumb enemies and one lucky shot.
I've got 4 of them I <think> they're easier to achieve at 7-8; I've 1 in the GW Panther, 1 in the SU-14-1, 1 in the SU-14-2 and 1 in the FV207.
I think higher up, people become more arty aware and try hard not to bunch.
