The T-34-1 is very good and statistically it's the best tier 7 medium tank.

The T20 is good too. I got a Radley Walters in that once. For some reason hardly anyone plays the American medium line. I'm not sure why as they're all decent tanks.

I utterly detested the Comet, although I didn't play it with any gold ammo. I would think it's a very good platoon tank due to its great DPM. A wolf pack of 3 of them on some maps would be pretty lethal. I never thought I'd say this, but I will probably get one again and give it another chance.

I have found (so far) that premium rounds aren't necessary if you are fighting tanks of the same or lower tier, but when facing higher tier tanks they can be very useful.

In the Radley Walters game I had, I didn't fire much, if any, premium ammo. However I was mostly killing tier 5 and 6 tanks. In fact the game was quite unremarkable even though I had 8 kills. Apart from an E25 and an I.S, both of which were already one shot kills, I only had to face a leopard, a hellcat and 3 Arties (got a Pascucci's medal for those tongue out ). The Hummel hit me hard and left me on 47 hit points.

I then had to face an ELC AMX and we killed each other. That was a shame as that lucky shot denied me a potential Pools medal as I was pretty confident I could finish off the last two enemy tanks, an M5 Stuart and a JagdPanther cry

I still have the replay. If anyone is interested I can put a link to wotreplays for it.

Are you logged in on the WoT website, you should have a message envelope top right. I've gone to send another and the option isn't there for me so the one i sent is still live. I think.

I always go with vents as it benefits every single aspect, albeit only by a little. I use optics as well on lights/mediums where I can, rounded out with a rammer. TDs I often go with binocs/camo, but it depends more on the vehicle...

My standard TD loadout is binocs, camo net and rammer. On heavies I tend to use rammer, and a choice between GLD, vents and coated optics, depending on the weaknesses of the tank. On the brawler like the KV-1 for example, I'd use GLD to help me hit weakspots in between wiggling on reloads. On a support heavy like the Tiger II, I use optics to maximise spotting damage and target acquisition for longer range engagements.

I've just had a match in my TOGII*, raked in a tidy 93,000 silver, welcome to the bank vault.

My first VBRJ clan games tonight, after nearly 11k games of total grind across many of the great tanks with only free gold having been spent smile Go me.

Thanks to Faneo & ETX-1 for some racking battles and banter. If nothing else we proved that 3 fully-fledged Matildas played together own the map, albeit more often than not by rolling in a stately procession about 20-30 seconds behind the action.

If I could just have mastered hitting "Platoon Chat" instead of "ALL" I'd be fairly satisfied with my evening.

I tend to go for Vents, Optics, Vert.Stab on mediums. On heavies swap the optics out for rammer or gld.

Great to have you on board, sir. That was some of the best fun I've had in WoT. 3 x tildas rock.

Indeed was fun, yes those Matildas were unstoppable and I think it was the first time seen a platoon of them with decent players in them so we were pretty menacing.
Felt a bit sorry for the opposition, have to do it again sometime guys, thx.

I was just discussing this with GeorgeZ06 as I've just been platooned with him on the Xbox, the slower, well-armoured vehicles with good guns can be really effective when platooned, they become rolling fortresses can can smash anything in their path and protect their own flanks rather than relying on random team members to do the job. We've just put a few games in using our tier 8 TDs, George in his T28 and me in the Jagpanther II. In 4 games I've put 10,000xp on the JPII using the weekend event bonuses, and we both earned our first Brothers in Arms medal on a standard match on Ensk that quickly started to look like it was going sour, but George impenetrable fortress T28 held the eastern street while I moved through the buildings dishing it, eventually flanking the tanks George had pinned down. In that match I shot my 128mm into a VK36.01 lower front plate at about 15m and somehow it bounced, it was a nearly flush shot as well. This is a gun that eats E-100 LFPs for breakfast, that VK36.01 had the gods of RNG shining down on him. Still, 3 kills each for me and George, match won, BIA medals.

Also, I've added a rare tank kill to my list, I took out a KV-5 earlier. IIRC, this was available as a premium for a while on the PC but may have been removed from sale now, but on the 360 I believe it was only given as a prize to beta testers who scored high damage while beta was active, and then they gave 10 away during a public contest for scoring high damage. It's like spotting a unicorn to see one of these on the Xbox, let alone get the kill. I've also killed two T95s in my JPII today, which is another tank to tick off the list.

This 15% off tier 9 and 10's is a bit of a money drain. Have just splashed out on a FV215B (for when it gets turned into a Chieftain tank), an M46 Patton (which is just awesome, why ever did I wait so long?) and an IS7 because, well I'm not sure on the last one. Skint now, but lots of new toys smile

The Patton is great. It got buffed in patch 9.2 as well (since I sold it - natch). They increased the accuracy from 0.42 to 0.40 and decreased the aim dispersion.

I take it you used free XP to upgrade it?

If not, wait for patch 9.3, because enhanced suspension will be available to buy. This will save you having to research the tracks first. Currently, without the tracks, you can't even mount the Pershing's gun, which is ridiculous.

Also the IS-7 will be a HD model in 9.3. The turret mounted machine gun is folded down in this, so it doesn't stick up like a TV aerial any more. It looks much better and is less of a give away when cresting a hill. Some idiots are whining about this though, so they may change it back.

I bought one in a previous sale, but have never played it apart from on the test server, as I don't have a crew for it yet. It has a very bouncy turret and a bank of spaced armour along the side. It's also quite mobile.

Doh....

I had been saving up free xp as i knew I was going to go either Patton or leopard pta, and both have nasty stock grinds. I had enough for the top gun and, i thought, turret and engine. Had planned on using the suspension upgrade, but found it couldn't be used so used some free xp on the tracks, because without them cant mount anything. So I'm grinding out the engine, but its such a pleasure to play its not going to be a problem. cloud9

The IS-7 is actually much better than i thought it might be, true enough the gun is the weak point, but it's not that bad, and the armour is nicely effective. Its pretty fast too smile

I sold my Jadgtiger as I don't really enjoy playing it. I believe it used to be a good TD, but it's now the victim of power creep and people just load the skill rounds as soon as they see it.

Soooo... I got the tier 9 Waffle instead and stuck the crew in that. I find it more deadly and despite having no armour at all, it's still more survivable than the JT. The second (stubby) gun is actually lighter than the stock one, so you can fit a rammer and other gear without the tracks from the start.

The stubby gun does a lot of alpha damage, but it gets far too many bounces for my liking. After playing it several times on the test server I think the gun that leads to the WTF E100 is the way to go. It has lower alpha, but better penetration and a faster reload; It's basically the same as the top gun on the Jagdtiger funnily enough.

I also had a play with my US account, which I haven't done in ages. I decided to get the T18 for the LOLs before it gets nerfed. I stuck a new crew in with the commander on 100% and the rest on 75%. No equipment, no prem shells and completely stock.

Despite all that, it's still OP as hell. In the first game i got 3 kills and 3rd class mastery. Second game with the tracks, derp gun and second engine. 5 kills and 1st class Mastery. I was chasing a couple of tanks around Ensk and making them panic. biggrin The last one I rammed in the side to track him and then derped him.
