You can buy premium ammo for normal silver, so now it's just more expensive ammo?

Thinking about it it's probably closer to 2 years since I last played. I've been glued to Kerbal space program for ages but finally starting to tire of that. I find I get a bit addicted to games for a while but eventually start to get bored as sooner or later everything becomes a bit repetitive. I suffered proper withdrawal symptoms when I went to visit my parents for a couple of weeks one Christmas and had to go without Eve Online for the duration. I soon realised just how much time I was spending on it, and when I got home uninstalled it and vowed never to play another persistent MMOG. At least WoT isn't still carrying on in the background when my PC's turned off like Eve was biggrin

Mind you Company of Heros 1 and 2 are currently on Humble Bundle along with loads of addon DLC so I might find myself sidetracked from WoT again unless I don't work out how to play the damn thing in the near future.

Anyone want control of the PH clan to maybe do something with it?
I'm addicted to Warships now.

wow next patch looks crazy.

Lots of new additions to the standard UI so no longer needing plugins (apart from xvm).

But its also included a previously banned mod, see exactly which direction you have been shot from and what tank shot you even if its not been spotted... :O

TD's are fked with a hot (premium) poker...

Matilda is a great close 1/4 fighter.

It can turn quick (get off road driving Driver skill and the top tracks), fit the 2pndr with Littlejon, add rammer.
@ Slow speed it is great as it does not slow much for obstacles and can climb a cliff smile You can circle a KV quicker than his turret/hull can turn.
Spend on 30 Gold (for KV's...T25's)
The gun fires like a machine gun, good pen/low damage requires good knowledge of weak zones. Kv engine bay just above the tracks as an example for fire starting.
You may be on to something there, after an evening being crap in light tanks I just took the Matilda out, damaged 6, killed 1 (my first kill in 2 evenings and no idea how many battles!) and came 7th on the team, a massive improvement on any other game so far biggrin

matilda is a bit of a monster.

It moves slow but other than that for its tier it can cream anything else, super fast firing and enough armour to bounce almost anything.

Load it up so you can fire as fast as possible and just dpm everything you can catch to death.

even against some tier 5's its a tough nut, in tier 6 games stay back and snipe

After a series of extremely frustrating and depressing games over the past couple of weeks, I've now uninstalled the game.

The main issues I had (and were probably as a consequence of my poor abilities), were the fact that most shots I had resulted in a miss (yes you IS-2), or no penetration even when using HEAT, taking one hit and I'm out of the game, trying to do peek a boo and getting shelled from SPGs, not being able to spot tanks until they had hit me, the list goes on.

So I'm out of the game and am very disappointed as the first few thousand games I enjoyed. Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement, something that is perhaps a little less prone to mis-matching..?

I've taken to Armoured Warfare recently as a bit of an Antidote to WoT.

It's not without fault, but I love the co-op mode, it's really good fun and on the harder difficulty settings quite challenging.

How does AW compare? Not tried it but the Wikipedia page sounds like it's fairly similar to WoT but with modern kit.

AW is not as polished as WOT, but MM is a tad better.
Co-oP is best to level your tanks up with, Hard level is not that hard at all, so spam it and you will soon have high level tanks.

This thread has been running for a while...unlike my experience of WoT; does anyone still playing in the lower tiers have a foolproof solution to dealing with Pz1Cs? They appear to combine the speed of an F1 car with some kind of unstoppable laser cutter masquerading as a 7.92mm machine gun.

May have to try that - my Cruiser kicks currently come in the shape of a Cruiser IV with the 40mm - comedy rate of fire, but comedy dispersion to go with it.

I'm playing through the S-51 at the moment, amazing and terrible in equal measure. I had to convert some XP to get the top gun because playing with the stock 152mm gun was dire beyond imagining. Now with the 203mm gun, it at least feels like it can take part in some battles. The 152 was terrible with direct hits doing weak damage, which the slow reload, terrible gun arc and poor accuracy just compounded. At least the 203, when it hits, completes wrecks - which is not often, it must be said. I'm really only on this line for the Object 261 because I think it will make an interesting counterpoint to my Conqueror Gun Carriage and that is a long way off yet!

Overall, GwPanther is still the strongest tier 7 artillery by far. It only does about 450 a shot on a non-penetrating hit, but it fires fast and accurately, so average damage per game is much higher than the S-51 and it's much less stressful to play - my blood pressure must take an absolute hammering when I'm in the S-51.

The t6 soviet arties take some getting used to. Reload time improves each tier up.

I've been trying to get the hang of being a dropshort - very tedious in the low tiers where the maps don't give you any options.

Almost as difficult as trying to win 'Fire for Effect' ribbons in a Crusader.

Yeah, marginal accuracy increases too, that should make up for not getting any improvement in gun arc at all as the tiers progress. To be fair to the Soviet arty, I will prefer playing the higher tiers - more big, slow tanks to shoot at for a start, and then the 203mm feels a waste in some ways at tier 7, when you spend 35 seconds reloading and score a direct hit on a tier 5 you kill them outright easily and feel like anyone on your team could have killed that tank, shooting at tier 9s feels much more worthwhile. Roll on Object 261.

The S-51 was my first arty, I wasn't interested in playing arty but it came off the KV-1 (that's how far back we're talking!) so I researched it just by playing the KV-1 and it used to be hilariously good. Then along came the great arty nerf a few patches back and it went so bad I sold it out of disgust after 2 games...
Back in it now and doing damage, I often platoon with a GW Panther and to be honest the average damage probably isn't much different as he hits more things but I do more damage when I hit. Looking at the stats after 246 games I do 1348 damage per game, he does 1247 after 367 games but I'm not sure how many of mine were pre-nerf.
Think the trick is patience - don't bother firing at anything moving too fast, and guess where people will sit as much as possible so you can pre-aim waiting for them to appear.
