I really want to start on Jap heavies but feel like I shouldn't until the 704 is wrapped up.
Massively OP at tiers 5 and 6, meh at tier 7, and dependent on rng at tier 8. Also quite map specific; there's a lot where you'll lose half your HP getting somewhere you can do anything, and others you'll get artied without doing any damage at all.
Sidescraped in cover though....it can be very effective.

I've got the Maus, so I'm familiar with heavy, slow tanks that miss half of the battle rofl

I'm just going for them because of the novelty value. I tend to like unusual or rare tanks. In the present meta armour is somewhat nullified by premium ammo spam, since people auto-load the their premium rounds as soon as they see an armour tank like a Maus, IS-4 or a Type 5, which is a bit of a shame.

I do love the feeling of getting armour working in a game though, where you lock a location down or stride across the field drawing fire from everyone and practically none of it is going through. There's nothing better than seeing the red and purple tracers getting bounced or sucked into your spaced armour, I had an 8500 damage blocked game (which as I understand it only records what my armour bounced, not what my tracks absorbed) in my 113 and that's not even really an armour tank. I also recall a game where my VK45 B bounced a stupid amount of damage by sidescraping in the valley on Karelia, angling the turret between shots and becoming a giant auto-bounce zone. That didn't stop the tier X TDs from firing their premium at me and none of it went in either. To me, that is as good a feeling as making an aggressive play that pays off in a medium.

I'm not feeling the love for the game atm, so rarely play except late on a Friday / Saturday when I *may* have had the odd drink or two. I'm also going through one of those phases where it seems like every line i'm grinding is a slog (I always seem to move up tiers almost simultaneously on several tanks).

Am not tempted in the slightest by the Swedish line, but I did enjoy dusting off the FCMPak40 and Cruiser II and squishing everyone trying out their Reindeer3 or whatever it's called on patch day last week.

Try some ships for a bit, I still dabble in tanks but ships is a better game imo.

Just noticed that the steam link was $20 on amazon, so ordered it for a play. Should turn up saturday, will have to see what I've got in the way of usb extension leads and wireless mice knocking around.

A rare decent score with 8 kills, normally 1-2 is my level, love the rapid rate of fire with the T-34 needle gun.

Forgot to say, that's a decent result in a tank often played by "professionals"

I've been watching the Quickybaby 12 hour charity livestream in the background, jumped on tanks with a buddy for a few games, had some of the worst luck going. I think out of about 15 games, I remember a good one in my 113 and a good one in my Object 704 and the rest were utter st. Disaster evening!

Surprisingly decent, but no obviously advantage to playing on a PC. Would work well for multiplayer/splitscreen games, or anything you could use a controller on

Never got on with the T20 or above. Which is odd as the T10 is sat in my garage...
I know what you mean about the T20, its a bit marmite though its not bad, its slow rate of fire means you have to play it as a support tank or in a platoon to get the best out of it, get caught against most t6 mediums and they will remove most, if not all of your health before you do the same to them (and considering its a t7....).

The M26 is as far as I have gotten in the tech tree and I like it, unfortunately, since they buffed the SP, the SP is now just better in all but mobility and view range, and the KR having its gun mantlet buffed means that is also slightly better over all above the M26.

Nice game. I had a bit of a Christmas morning treat myself in the form of a Christmas morning Radley-Walters medal for 8 kills in the O-I Experimental. The surprising speed and 300 alpha gun let me quickly tear through everything in my path, effectively sweeping a flank solo on Murovanka, using the hills for cover to protect my buttery front end.

I'm looking forward to moving on from this giant joke box, that huge strip of frontal armour behind the mini turrets and the main turret are never worth more than about 85mm of effective armour no matter how they are angled. I don't really play lower tiers so coming back down to start the Japanese heavy line was a surprise when I found out how buttery these things are. At least the O-I at tier 6 looks to be a lot more robust! Still, despite the underwhelming armour, I've managed a solid win rate in this tank so far, probably because the gun packs enough punch to make any tank it can meet take notice.

Fairly irritated - WoT doesn't allow cross platform accounts much unlike War Thunder. As a result I found to play with friends on my PS4 I'll have to forego my account and level on the PC. Seems significantly short sighted.

Edit: after delving in more on the PS4 it seems WoT is pretty cut down in regards to research etc. You just research packages instead of individual items.

Anecdotally, leveling on the consoles seems about 10 times faster than on the PC, too.

It's a totally different game on the consoles, totally dumbed down. discussing gameplay across platforms is pointless tbh.

Try War Thunder - that's identical across platforms and equal (if not better because the planes work too) than WoT in complexity etc.

That's what I've been playing since I took a break from WoT. Got to Hetzer pretty quickly and got distracted by arty... It's slowed so I'm guessing this is where the grind back to the Jagdtiger frown

At some point I need to go back to the T2 Pz. 38T and worth through that lineage too...

The only thing they dumbed down was the crew training, which is good because the crew system is needlessly convoluted on PC and the module to package system, which wasn't a good idea. Everything else is the same bar the in-game HUD which is coming in the future and some of the tank balance.
