The T20 is great though, no one expects this small T7 medium to pack a 240 alpha punch

seriously, last 3 weeks, what has happened with the arty, the number of getting one shotted has quadrupled.
Have they taken a reverse nerf? I hope so, the number of times I played arty after the last nerf and every shot landed nowhere near the centre of the aiming circle, despite aiming steady for several seconds after the aiming resolved itself was soul destroying.

Mind you tank destroyers seem to have taken a beating with the nerf stick, I keep getting bounces and "critical" hits on arty rather than actually doing any damage.

I can tell the Obj704 has had another silent nerf, soft terrain resistance has gone up.

WG are well known for unannounced silent nerf's.

Started playing this just over a month ago on XBone, loving it so far.

Got various premiums and I've spread myself across all countries and all vehicle types while I learn the maps and how things work best. Stats aren't particularly good overall but I (think) i'm improving.

Good stuff, hope to see you on the battlefield one day. If you haven't already, get the Matilda, the British tier 4 medium, it will teach you a lot about playing the game and it's very forgiving.

I bought the lend-lease Churchill III in the USSR line the other day, loving that at the minute. I'll look at the Matilda too, any tips?

At least they got rid of the stupid comic graphic. Think it lasted a day.

Read the WOTwiki, all the gameplay mechanics pages and watch Quickybaby videos. Learn to angle your tank, learn enemy weakspots, learn the spotting mechanics and how to use them.

So much of this game is to be learned through reading and watching, but a huge amount comes from playing, learning when to push and when you be defensive, how to pick targets and make decisions on the fly. However, if you start learning the mechanics early on you'll have a much easier ride and won't spend a long time getting pummeled and not understanding why you're not doing well. Keep in mind that the majority of WOT players win <50% of their battles - the strong prey upon the weak in this game!

On the subject of the comic graphics, I did like them but some sensitive souls were having problems. The amount of salt and butthurt on the forum has been ridiculous.

Tonight I decided roll out my old friend the SU-76I for a bit of fun.
1,824 dmg is not too shabby for a tier 3 (I think it may be a little OP) - http://wotreplays.com/site/3229288#el_halluf-enjo-...

I haven't played this for a few years but downloaded it on Friday and had some really good games with a friend of mine i.e. we won more often than not. We tried again yesterday but it we struggled to get a win at all. Our team just melted time and time again. Is it still the case that you don't play at the weekends?

WG have shady patents on a little-understood MM system and it's not inconceivable that the game decides who is getting the good luck and who is getting the bad luck on any given day, but that is getting a little conspiracy theorist. Certainly, it seems like everyone you ask has the same experience, on some days every shot you fire seems to miss or bounce, every should you should bounce pens you and your teams fall apart around you, but it's hard to say how much of that is a perception bias.

I do hear people on all platforms saying weekends are the worst for bad teams, I don't notice much of a difference on console, there seems to be a mix of good players and bad players (more bad than good though) and they seem to be active all week. It's funny when you think the average WOT player will win less than half of their matches, when you watch the player cams of 49% players they are absolutely dreadful.

In other news I'm nearly finished the O-Ho grind, I need about 75,000xp so I think I can get that done before next weekend and be driving the Type 4 Heavy. I can't wait tbh, I enjoy the O-Ho, it's fun when you smack a T32 for 910 damage and the frontal armour is great when top tier, but as soon as you see higher tiers you need to angle to make the front stronger and that exposes the cardboard side armour. I know the Type 4 and 5 have the cheek weakspots but somehow that seems like an upgrade over the O-Ho because at least the side armour is much, much stronger. The guns will be an upgrade too, the 149mm derp is at the limit at tier 8, but still vastly awful the 100mm AP gun option, the high pen, much higher shell velocity, reliable high alpha and huge accuracy increase will be welcome.

The biggest pain in the arse for the O-Ho is the front mini turrets, they're offset to the left and give you 0 degrees of gun depression over the front of the tank - in fact they give you a degree of elevation in one spot, and you have to expose a lot of the left side of your tank to engage targets to your left who are not elevated above you. In a really tall tank, having no gun depression over the front is a major pain and without a doubt the most awkward thing about the O-Ho.

Still, it's a fun tank to play, but I won't miss it massively one it's gone.

It was terrible today, I had a few games and my teams kept melting. We had to resort to KV2's and a few other tanks just to get a few wins in. I will try again during the week to see if its any better. Scarebird/DIW35 come on Teamspeak mate tank Message me and I will give you my TS.

strange isint it. Also at the weekend we had lost half of our tanks before I had even gotten my heavy tank into one of the towns - half the lights/meds of my team had just been vaporised. it was game after game after game at one stage.

I then swich and go for arty of some tier 2/3 just to try and get out of the cycle. Often then find after a string of bad losses (even if Im getting top damage) you then get good wins.

The thing with weekends / holiday periods is that the quality of matches is reduced due to the influx of poor play - but that shouldn't overly affect your win rate. There is as much chance for a group of very bad players to be on the enemy team as yours. What you can't avoid though is the sheer frustration of having very one sided games where you get wiped, or clean up, very quickly and it all feels a bit pointless. It becomes particularly noticeable if you are in a support class where you need your team (arty, lights, some meds).

On the PC version too the matchmaking seems to be having more issues of late, whereby the incidence of very poorly matched tank lineups is increasing. I mean where one team has all the heavies, and the other all the paper mediums and TD's who basically just get rolled. I've seen that quite a lot recently, far more than I remember it. WG say they are working on a new MM that will balance not just tiers but tank compositions better, but as with all WG fixes believe it when it turns up.

We swear the game has a 'fast mode' where one team gets a RNG bonus for accuracy, penetration, etc. at certain times to make the games go quicker - how often do you get a game that goes down to the last 3 tanks on each side? Or when was the last time you saw a game end in a draw? We used to have draws all the time, but now one team just seems to dominate each game.
Of course it could just be that when you pick 30 players, 20 will be average, 5 will be good and 5 will be terrible. If a team has 4 of the good players on they're probably going to win...

Without wishing to piss on your bonfire, I'm really not a fan of the Type 4 Heavy. It was absymal pre-buff, and isn't that great after the buff TBH.

And, although the gun can do a great deal of damage, it bounces a lot more than you'd think and when it does you get punished heavily as, although the armour is good, when you're pushing against other tier 9s and 10s (as you have do really) they pen you for fun unless you're hull down (in which case it is hugely strong).

It really, really needs a derp cannon like keeps getting mentioned on the forums. Then it would be great.

As it is, I barely play it and certainly won't be getting the Type 5 Heavy unless there are some radical changes.

However, I kept and still enjoy the O-Ho!

Horses for courses and all that.

They were buffed? Wow someone did a poor job of that then. Giving them a big Derp might help, but they need to sort out the armour profile too. Those angled shoulders are a killer - ate a Type 5 for lunch with my Maus a couple of days ago thanks to those. Poor guy just couldn't find a good angle.

All the super heavies need some love though, in fairness. As a class they only work in very specific circumstances I find. Either a decent mobility buff or some kind of penetration reduction across the board (especially prem ammo) and they might become relevant again. WG mentioned something about mobility buffs on the T28's and T95 - perhaps it's something that will come in time.
