I'm going to see Fury tonight, I want to see gold spamming, sidescraping and dead tank commanders calling their living allies "fuking n00b fag0rts" and frothing spittle all over their desks.

What, the Sherman loaded gold?
Oh indeed yes. And the yelling of "Failteam" and "play Tetris" was very much in evidence.
Oh and when Wardaddys Sherman got tracked, he didn't have a repair kit loaded...the noob! hehe

Had my first proper laugh out loud moment in a long time last night.

Joined a game and jumped into my Tiger 1 as I thought I might as well get some US kills (Elited the tank ages ago and crew are nearly finishing their 2nd skill).

First game I had a guy in a Fury wanting a 1v1 I laughed and said that if we meet we will see what happens.

I came across him, his shot bounced I then blew his turret off in 1 hit smile

And on that topic, I bought the Fury premium tank last night.

First impressions...I like it. I liked the standard Easy 8 and this is basically the same tank. Statistically, it is better than a stock Easy 8 but worse than an upgraded one.

Not quite as fast and doesnt have the solid turret armour of the standard either. But its gun is identical and it has the same excellent gun depression.

In actual play I honestly didnt notice any difference in mobility over the standard tank and it is still a fine mobile medium. I never depended on the Easy 8s armour anyway so that isnt an issue either.

It doesn't get preferential MM because the gun is the same as the standard E8 but it does get premium xp and credit earnings which I found to be pretty good.

And it looks cool!

If you are considering getting this tank then, if you enjoyed Easy 8 playstyle you won't be disappointed. If you sucked playing the E8, then don't get this thing.

On a more sensible note, my slow eliting of everything tier 7 continues.

If you're close to the Walker Bulldog, and haven't got it yet, I'd suggest getting it and quickly, before it gets nerfed - because I can't believe it won't be.

It isn't wonderful as a light, as it's a big old thing, but as a cross between a light and a medium, it excels.

It's a light that can solo tier 7 heavies. And tier 8 mediums. As a lot have found out to their cost.

People are starting to prioritize them as targets as they begin to realize what damage they can do - you just need to think about the stats to see that one can easy take a T29 by itself - 18 seconds to empty the clip for a potential 1500 damage. In that time the T29 can do 640 damage to you. Then you bugger off into a bush to reload and snipe the rest of the match.

The 175 pen means you can auto aim and stand a good chance of getting 8/10 penetrations.

It's an absolute beast. Get it now before it gets nerfed.

I've seen a few around, although they're kinda listed strangely. I've never played the E8 before, but I've had the E2 a couple of times.

As well as the Tiger, I saw the "Fury" Sherman M4A2E8 running round the track at Bovington last year. It's a diesel powered one (the A2 designation shows this), which was used because they didn't have enough petrol engines to go around apparently. The US Army didn't actually use them, but they look the same as the petrol engined M4A3E8 that they did use. Very little movie sound recorded at the time of filming is actually used; I wonder if they gave it the petrol engine sound in post production.

Murray Walker was waving from the M4's commander's hatch too. He was a Sherman tank commander in the British 4th Armoured Brigade during WW2.

It likes you to beat up higher tier tanks I find. You get an XP bonus for doing that.

You're on the Asia server then? What's that like?

Holy fk, shaking with WOT glory. There is an operation up today to destroy 5 tanks for 100,000 silver - no biggie on the silver front, that's worth about a game and a half in the Churchill III. The reason I was really hoping to score on this OP was it's part of an ongoing set of ops for Halloween, with a prize awarded to players who complete all of them, the idea being that they've all got to be done by the close of play on Friday, and each op gets harder and you've got less time to do it.

Now 5 kills in a game ain't nuthin', but I had a feeling that as I had crushed everything under foot yesterday, that I'd lose out today, one day you're on top of the RNG world, the next you're dog st.

So I tried my first match in n00b stomper1, the 38H, but only ended with 2 kills, a load of damage and top of the xp board. Second match, I wasn't messing around, so I picked out the FCM36Pak40, the creature that haunts seals in their dreams. El Halluf loads up, tier 4 but the ridiculous gun I've got can do the job, I take position in the bush looking south over death valley and begin spotting and firing. One by one, the enemies rush to their death, some splaying wide across the valley to hill-climb in the south. I start racking the kills up, eventually having 4, 7 enemies spotted and damaging many more. I load an APCR, knowing that my next shots must count. My spotted indicator goes, a Valentine AT appears over a sand dune in the valley, aiming right at me, I aim for his gun shield and rip through it, halving his health, another round in the gun and boom, he is dead and I've got my 5 kills. By this point, the base behind me was overrun, so I turned and began firing into the tanks behind me, but I was overcome and died. I then said "Best job I ever had.", to which another random on my team said "Best fking job..." and all of my remaining teammates lit up their "Awesome" indicators over their tanks. A lot of Fury fans playing tonight!

Without a doubt one of the biggest rushes I've had in a game in a while, I love having it on the line and nailing it when you need to. Sadly, the game ended in a draw, and I took 1,407 base xp (not even enough for a mastery class III apparently) but man, what a game.

Also, I really want to play the AMX 40 "Duck" tank, it looks so cool, like a 1950s interpretation of some sort of science fiction "Tank of Tomorrow!" affair. You would think they'd deliberately styled it to look like a duck.

I once ended up in a game with an AMX 40 left on each side, they found each other with six minutes to go, it ended in a draw as they couldn't pen each other...

no doubt neither was smart enough to drive to the cap... typical. Will let them off if it was an encounter and they were both in the cap idea

Have fun in the AMX 40 Mastodon smile

I've just put up with the AMX 38 and got the 40 with the upgraded turret and gun, its terrible! slooooow aim time , notmuch pen, not quite, but not dog slow like the 38. I actually prefer it to the DW2 but not by a lot.

Mostly enjoying the E25.

Win/lose is getting hammered by fail teams today as it's still low on number of battles. I'm trying hard not to get into fights, but I seem to be the only one on a flank half the time tonight (and not just in the E25... frown ); when you do, it's normally bye-bye in short order.

However, you can make a real difference with this tank - even on a losing game! I enjoyed the one below - the rest of the team died fairly quickly, left me running around Ensk as fast as I could, taking a shot or two then moving on. They caught up eventually, of course...

Heh, I'd heard the Duck was st but I like to give a tank a chance. I did come across one in my S35 and I couldn't find get a round through it, it ripped me to bits and that doesn't happen often, even against tier 4s. That said, there are a lot of threads on the Xbox WOT forum about how hateful the Duck is, that it's a painful experience that must be endured to get to the amazing ELC AMX. The AMX 38 has a really interesting look too, the turret looks like something off a futuristic laser tank. Clearly the people who developed these tanks in the blueprint stage went on to work for Citroen designing their wacky cars.

I do really like the look of the French tanks, but I must remain focused on my IS-3, I've lost some precious grinding time this week due to Borderlands, going to cinema etc, I want that damn IS-3.

Even if they were, loading HE would probably knock of an hp every now and then, enough to stop it.

Problem is here that even shooting at the rear or at 'weakspots' the gun isn't likely to pen at all, and if they're sensible enough to keep themselves front on to each other, they've unlikely to get to a cap.

67 apparently endless games to elite it. But it's still better than the DW2. smile

The only fun you'll have with the AMX 40 is when people try to ram you and they die. Happened to me twice in one game I remember

It's like people who try to ram kill WTF E100s. Yeah...it's a 100 tonne tank (the clue is in the name) - not a good idea.

Even though the AMX 40 is classed as a light tank, it's so bad that it gets preferential match making & won't see tier 7. It has no chance against even tier 5, so that's a good thing.

One guy recently did a 24hr AMX 40 stream on Twitch TV. He got about 30 Ace Tankers by the end I think.

Raise your right hand if you like the French.... Raise both hands if you are French. tongue out

The tier 1 Renault FT is decent and the basis of so many nations tank armies. Even the Americans started with them

I've been replaying the BDR G1B, which is their tier 5 heavy tank. It's got a decent gun and it can destroy a KV-1 or KV220 in 3 shots. I got the Ace Tanker earlier today with 3,180 damage & two kills in a tier 7 game. Still lost it of course.

As a general rule, French tier 2-4 vehicles are terrible & best avoided. After that you're fine.

I've always wondered what AMX stands for. Apparently it's short for "Atelier de Construction d'Issy-Les-Moulineaux" which roughly translates as "Construction worksop at Issy-les-Moulineaux", which is in the south west of Paris. The name dates from 1936 when Renault was nationalised. Even their modern tanks use that prefix, such as the AMX Leclerc, which is their current MBT (with a 22 round autoloader!)
