So if tiers 2 through 4 are terrible, where does that leave the FCM36Pak40? wink

I just came back into the thread to post this, my latest match.

Nothing like bossing a tier 5 game in a tier 3 TD. In the end I was the last man standing against an undamaged Matilda and the SU-5, I nailed the Matilda with 3 rounds to the hatch, and then managed to draw the SU-5 out for a one shot kill. Bosch. This tank is ridiculous - when the team doesn't collapse and leave it swinging in the breeze of course. Still, I've got a 3.5-ish KDR in this tank.

Just had another belter, my best game yet. The base XP was 1756 - the XP shown here has a 25% OP bonus applied. 1756 base xp, and not even enough to pop a class 3 - that st is whack. Half the players in this thing per week are getting 9 kills Radley-Walters? No chance.

Either way, we still lost - I ended up having to rush back to base to defend the cap, my two remaining team mates couldn't get back in time and the slow ROF of the IS couldn't stop the capping, even though I did hit one of them with an HE which knocked it back, to no avail.

Still, 9 kills is a hell of a result for me.

As a general rule I said. I know all about the FCM. My kill/death ratio 5.34. shoot

Due to some masochistic urge, I'm gonna re-buy the tier 4 heavy, the B1 shortly. The slug of death cometh. yikes

Awesome IS game. I found that tank to be a bit insipid. Its brother, the KV-3 on the other hand was a beast.

Nicely done, I've never got on with it, I dislike the up close turret-less play, not a skill I've grasped.

I managed to get a Defender and an Invader medal in the same game with the tier 5 Japanese "Type 3 Chi-Nu Kai" earlier. 5 kills, 1500 damage & a tense 1 vs 1 showdown with a heavy tank at the end too - but still not good enough for an ace tanker.

silly

That also gave me enough XP to get 6th sense on the commander, so that will help quite a bit.

Its taken me a few games to get used to the completely different play style. Kind of enjoying the change of pace but I can understand its a bit marmite

Great job, jumped off my seat when you got near their base and caused the explosion.

No KV-3/4 and IS4 line for us yet, it should be along soon. I've heard the KV-4tress is a machine.

I quite liked the IS, it started off as the most laughably poor stock tank I've yet played, but once it had the top gun, upgraded turret and a tier 9 engine in it, it was quite good. I'm on the IS-3 now and it feels like a line of diminishing returns, the crazy power of the 122mm gun on the KV-1S was lessened slightly on the IS, and on the IS-3 again it's weaker still. It can still dish it out, but even with the D25-T, you're looking at 175mm pen and 390 alpha, 3.4 sec aim and 0.45-0.46 dispersion. Those aren't wicked gun stats. The BL-9 looks to be worth looking forward to, with it's 225mm pen and 0.40 accuacy, which is a big improvement, and the 25% extra (give or take) of shell velocity should make a big difference. The armour on the IS-3 is awesome though, at least until someone hits the top hatch. Doh. I had a Black Prince and T25/2 scratching their heads earlier on Lakeville as they just couldn't get one through my frontal armour. They tried to flank but I was able to position to stop them hitting me with a pincer, so they just gave up and tried to back off, giving me time to kill them both.

I know I've just started the IS-3 and I've got another 210,000xp or so to go to unlock the IS-8 so I shouldn't look too far ahead, but I'm not that wild about the idea of the IS-8, which I hear is a right old stbox.

The BL-9 gun makes the IS-3, although it's not historically accurate. It had the D-25T in real life IIRC.

The 2 Soviet heavy lines are basically: Less armour and more mobility Vs More armour and less mobility. Most of the latter tree were never built.

The Russians stopped making heavy tanks in 1960 when Nikita Khrushchev banned anything over 37 tons.

Thanks, yeah I was trying to avoid that Michael Bay st, but must have run over some ammo boxes. The T1 Heavy would have heard it too. furious

Yeah, I think the second Russian heavy line could come as part of a "heavy armour" update, adding the Porsche line in at the same time.

It's interesting how heavy tanks became an irrelevancy in the age of the main battle tank. Firepower, armour and mobility all rolled into one, they've become fantastically complex machines these days and the guns are a world away from anything you would find in WOT. I think the Leopard 1 is probably the most modern tank in WOT, and you can see the origins of the MBT in that.

Heavy tanks are also more expensive to build and maintain & put greater strain on the infrastructure; Many bridges can't carry their weight.

Arguably the Centurion is the first real MBT. Its L7 105mm gun was later used by the Leopard 1 and is still used to this day.

The Americans seem to want to partially move away from the MBT to a faster, lighter, air mobile & tactically flexible armoured force more akin to the tanks used in the German Blitzkrieg. Their Stryker series of vehicles is an all wheeled design:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker

One variant has the US licence built version of the L7 gun.

A base XP of 1917, combined with an OP and a weekend triple equals enormous XP earning! This was done top tier in the T-25 on Lakeville. This thing can feel like such a predator when the numbers come in, darting through the streets nailing on target after another. I panicked a D2 into turning his rear to me to escape, so I loaded a HE round and put it straight through his rear plate, blew his engine out and left him stranded.

How do you get replays may I ask? There have been so many good moments I wish I could keep.

They're in the Replays folder. tongue out

Something like:

C: Games / World_of_Tanks / Replays

It might be off by default though. I can't remember.

Go to Settings, and the first (General) tab. On the right there's the "Enable Battle Recording" drop down.

You can either disable it, have it so that it only keeps the previous game, or it keeps them all.

You can also upload them to Wotreplays if you want. Just log in with your normal WoT ID.
