Bloody hell, that WN8 is crazy, will watch when I get home.
Yeah E-50 stat padding FTW! Talking of stat padders. I got my hands on the tier 5 KV-1S over the weekend. Now that thing is just a bit ridiculous with the 122mm derp gun. I have only played 6 games with it so far but won 5, got a topgun in one and an Ace Tanker in another.
450 alpha HE against anything with soft armour, which is most tier 3 and 4s you will face as well as more than a few tier 5s, and HEAT with 140 pen and 370 alpha for anything with armour you might face. With a 9 sec reload!
Holy st! If people thought the old KV-1S was OP at tier 6, they ain't seen nuffin yet.
I actually felt dirty playing this beast.

I started with the derp gun, but the matchmaking is horrible for me. It's in constant tier 6 and 7 games. You can certainly squish soft tier 4s and hurt tier 5s, but the advertised 450 average damage is a total lie. More like 125 if you're lucky. I switched to the 85mm gun, which has more than double the rate of fire and does more actual damage per shot. The gun depression is a pain in the arse too. You spend more time try to engineer a shot than anything.450 alpha HE against anything with soft armour, which is most tier 3 and 4s you will face as well as more than a few tier 5s, and HEAT with 140 pen and 370 alpha for anything with armour you might face. 23 games and only 25 kills with a 39% win rate. It's not that I'm doing no damage, I've got 15 "fire for effect" ribbons so far.
In fairness I have only had 6 games so far so its way too early to say anything definitive. However those games were mostly against tier 6. In those 6 games I have 5 wins, killed 14 and only died once, and all with the 122mm.
I don't see any reason to change the formula at the moment.
The lack of gun depression is an issue, but I am already used to that driving the KV85. I try to position myself where gun depression isn't such a factor, such as getting into towns which are mostly flat and keeping the engagements at short range where the poor gun handling isn't such a factor.
Once I smash someone they generally lose interest in continuing the fight. I back off to reload, and by the time they have positioned themselves to get a shot (which hopefully I can evade or bounce...or suck it up if that fails)I have reloaded before they get a second shot off, and generally another shot from that 122mm is all it takes.
I will post a couple of replays this evening when I get home from work, if I remember to illustrate what I am doing with this thing.

Have tried the KV1s with the derp out of interest, hardly does any damage even on a KV1 let alone higher tiers.
I think to do any damage with that gun you really have to hit at the right spot.
The only way this tank has worked for me since its been nerfed is with the 85mm with HE shells.

7 kill game in the IS-3, picking up a Sniper, Top Gun and Devastator, but sadly not enough for an Ace Tanker (thanks to my team) and I picked up mastery class 1 last night, so I can't get it again for another week, which is a difference to how the mastery badges work on PC.
This was a Malinovka encounter, normally something I hate in the IS-3, but at least I was top tier. I ended up leading a charge across the map, dishing out 5,000 damage and taking 7 kills along the way, before being killed myself. The tank who killed me was swiftly done in, leaving 7 minutes on the clock, one enemy Tiger and a T-69, AT15A, IS-6, Fury, Black Prince and T29 on my team. Overwhelmingly good odds, a practically impossible situation for the Tiger to survive, right? One man jumps on the cap, lets a 3 minute countdown start and if things go wrong, eveyone else can pile on the cap and win. Well, despite the rest of my team shouting down the mics, two morons jump on the cap and cap the game out in 90 seconds - a full health T29 and Fury who otherwise had practically no impact in the game. We never did find the Tiger and had to leave the game without getting the bonus for killing all of the enemy tanks. Thanks, assholes. I think if they'd found that Tiger and I'd gotten a little more experience I could have been on for an ace tanker.
The IS-3 looks like it might have done an about turn with this BL-9, now it feels dangerous against tier 8s and above again. That 175mm pen D-25T has pretty well put me off the IS-6 though I think. The SU-122-44 doesn't seem to suffer against 8s with it's 175mm pen gun, I don't know what it was about the IS-3 175mm pen that just didn't work for me. Maybe I'll get an IS-6, one day...
As promised here is the Ace Tanker KV-1S game.

I did spam a lot of HEAT in this game. I had it loaded at the start and forgot to reload with HE which would have been just as effective to be honest. HE has less tendency to bounce as well.
Here is a screen shot of my performance so far with this tank. Only 7 games so far but I am having a lot of fun!

Thanks for posting the replay, but it doesn't want to run. It just freezes at the start. Maybe because it's Himmelsdorf in Winter.

There isn't a medal on the PC for 7 kills any more sadly. It was originally the Wittman's medal, but as he was an SS tanker & a Nazi, the German government asked them to remove it. They initially renamed it the Bölters Medal, after Johannes Bölter, who was a German Army tank ace; Then they removed it completely, before I started to play.

I filled in the name as Hans Bolter.. had a £40 off voucher not so long ago in the post, nice .. the other half was not amused at my tomfoolery... one day their is going to be a tanker on the tills and I will get rumbled

How receptive Wargaming are to the sensitivities of the circumstances in which tanks have been used in anger and their zero tolerance policy on Nazi glorification or acknowledgement is praiseworthy. I see very little war era nationalism, although it's a shame I see so much anti Polish sentiment without any obvious steps being taken to prevent it.

Anti Polish sentiment? There are medals for Polish tank aces. What is this anti Polish sentiment you are feeling? I find it a little ironic they'd pull the Wittman's medal, when there are a handful of medals venerating Russian tank aces. I suppose WOT is World of Russian National Pride at times, they seem to be missing the point that Stalin's regime was hardly covered in glory either.

The replay works fine for me Oh well.On a happier note, are you guys aware you can get 1000 free gold simply by registering on Overwolf and then firing up the WoT game client and leaving it running for an hour?
Here is what you do. (courtesy of FTR)
- Go to http://www.overwolf.com/ , download the program and register (you can use a Mailinator address for this if you want), and start up Overwolf.
- Open WoT and log into your account.
- Move your mouse to the left to open the Overwolf overlay, click the colourful icon that says Appstore, then go to Games => Giveaways => WoT giveaway.
- A countdown will now start. Leave WoT running for an hour, and you’ll get a bonus code. Redeem it on WoT portal.
This is legit. I have already got my 1000 gold.
WG announced the E-25 going on sale tomorrow. However, it's part of a special, bundled in with a garage slot and a week of premium - two things I bulk buy to save gold. I'm undecided on whether or not to buy it. I've heard it's outrageously fun, but it is expensive, though I do consider the SU-122-44 to have been a good investment. Is it on sale in the general tech tree on the PC version? I'm concerned that it might not go on general sale and might be kept as a special sale item, though it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't get one.
