Sir Daniel Fortesque! Amazing game.

Also, let us not forget Loaded and Reloaded, simple, gory, top-down shooting fun.

Music 2000.
A fully functioning sequencer with vet functions and you could also sample off CD.
it could be used simply but had so much depth and functionality you could realy get creative with a bit of know-how.
You could even timestretch samples with some work.
Ok it wasn't top quality audio but for the time, the technology and the cost it deserves some serious respect.

Thanks for that, got caught up in the nostalgia and actually forgot one of the reasons i started the thread.

This one’s a real obscurity, but one of my favourite PS1 titles was Nobody Can Stop Mr Domino. A proper Japanese oddity which somehow got a UK release.

I'm sure I remember that being on a demo disk!

Another bizzare Japanese game that I loved (and recently got working on my Raspberry pi!) was Bishi Bashi special.

its just utterly, utterly mental!

Micro Machines. I loved being able to race wee toy cars about a kitchen table!
I loved the original Toca Touring Cars game as well. Especially the cheat that let you race a tank.
Those were the days! tongue out

Rented Vandal Hearts for the PS1 and played it non-stop for about 2 weeks. If this doesn't seem hardcore enough i didn't have a memory card, so each day i had to start a new file, and the intro could be skipped a specific point.

Vagrant Story was epic and so different with its fighting style, weapon customization and puzzle solving. Probably another good call-out for a remake.

Vagrant Story was a great game, with the Shakespeare references, the gothic European styling and an inventive combat system.

ahh, the start sound was the sound of my teenage years smile

Resident Evil series was such a game changer (excuse the pun)
Tomb Raider (pointy boobs and guns)
Wipeout (what a sound track)
Ridge racer (just playing the basic track trying to beat your mates best time)
TOCA (just great fun)
Colin Mcrae Rally (still worth a replay)
Roll cage (another exellent soundtrack and excellent racing)

damn time to bring the games out from the loft!

The remake of this on the Gamecube is well worth a look. A lot of new content and really interesting tweaks. First time i got chased by a red zombie really brought back the terror from the original.

Also decided I'm going to buy a PS2 as they were all backward compatible (larger range of games i can play on it), probably easier to find and not so old.

With the pirate ships? That (plus the Porsche raining game) were the two demos that came with my PS1 when I eventually bought it - remember playing it for hours the day/night I bought it.

Vib Ribbon was a niche favourite.

Spyro the fking Dragon!

That game changed my life. I remember playing it in Toys R Us in Plymouth and it warped my fragile little mind by showing me what consoles could do.

I believe it featured on the Official Playstation Magazine disc at some point.
