My dad was doing a bit of late spring cleaning and found a box of old PS1 games. I forgot how many forgotten gems the console had through the years.

What was your favourite forgotten title, excluding the usual list of big names.

I've also got a Hauppage HD PVR but have lost the disc and have had no success in setting it up again so any Wizards about who could help with this, and a decent / cheap gaming monitor that would much appreciated.

Future Cop LAPD was amazing. And what was that other game where, Mysteries Of The Deep?

Tenchu 1 and 2 were the best games of the PS1 imo. They're burned into my memory.

Anyone remember G-Police? I wasn't very good at it but a friend was and it was a fantastic game.

Yes, a very good game for it's day. The way the city drew itself out in green wire-frame blocks as you approached looked very cool, and was a clever way of working around the PS1's low draw distance ability.

Speaking of the PS1, let us not forget Crash Bandicoot. Incredible gaming.

Ape Escape. I loved the fact that it used the dual analogue sticks for a real purpose, and who wouldn't fall for a game which involves catching escaped monkeys in a net. Brilliant. Not sure how forgotten it was, but I don't know anyone else who bought it at the time.

Exactly the sort of fantastic, unpretentious game you could fall in love with. It was very good! Tenchu and Tenchu 2 were also incredible. And don't forget Vagrant Story.

Oh fk yes! The memories...

Did you ever access the developer code? Some high class cheating could be had with access to unlimited weapons and all the awesome moves.

You could play as a rat then which was always funny!
I had one of those game Xploder things that could open the test menu, which was a developer menu that allowed the spawning of all the game items, spawning enemies and NPCS (and you could set their patrol routes, behaviour - so you could make enemies non-violent, they wouldn't react to your presence and you could practice executions etc) and all sorts of other cool things. You could change the music on any level, and other stuff I can't remember now.

Ape Escape, what a game, amazing.

Also, how could I forget Hogs of War! Like Worms but in 3D (before Worms 3D), with pigs, WWII styling, Rik Mayall and lashings of un-PC humour.

I loved G-Police

GT2 has got to get a look in and I remember V-Rally being good fun.
I lost more hours than I care to think about playing Worms with my mates and then we have Tomb Raider.

You could access the debug menu in Tenchu using a cheap code, couldn't you? And then when you pressed the back button, it would pop up on the screen allowing you to manipulate the game. I really enjoyed using it to turn the music off, it made for a very dark atmosphere in the game. Incredible games, Tenchu and Tench 2.

Tell you what I loved, Deathtrap Dungeon!

Probably one of my favourite games of all time. I loved the cheats that let you play as an enemy too.

The sequel wasn't quite as good, but it was still a great game. It was very, very dark and heavily influenced by HP Lovecraft.

I just thought of a PS2 game that I enjoyed a huge amount Timesplitters. It was so good, my friends and I would pass a lot of time completing death matches and team death matches years ago.

Pro-Pinball The Web was a favourite of mine. Can't remember if it was PS1 or 2.
