Bit busy today, hopefully be on this evening. Got to get level 4 IB and to complete the raid.

To be fair though, I think I held my own pretty well with my inferior armor etc. Seemed to be killed in equal proportions to everyone else but my gun is lacking somewhat!

My warlock is at 5, but I only have enough glimmer to get one or other of the above, unless I spend a couple of hours farming.
I think I'll probably get the shader as it'll be at least some use in the future, whereas the IB Scout Rifle is not as good as the Raid one.
Talking of which, I now have 3 Hard Raid completions and it has only dropped one piece of Hard Raid gear in all that time. Thanks Bungie!

I've now got level 30 boots and gloves, and an exotic chest piece. The only thing I need is a raid helmet which I remember you saying is hard mode only. Looks like I'm going to have to swap over to an exotic helmet and wait for a raid chest piece to stand any chance of getting to 30.
Guys - a couple of tips that I've picked up for the relic holder on Atheon:
1) In the portal (Mars or Venus), the enemies don't notice you're there if you run towards them, but they will if you jump towards them. So always run almost right up to them, then jump smash them (X, R2).
2) If your team mates are struggling with the Oracles in the portal, you can drop the relic (press triangle), shoot the Oracles for about 4 seconds (usually enough to kill one) then pick the relic up again (hold square). You can repeat this to take out multiple oracles.
3) Towards the end of the Oracles phase in portal, your super is charged, you can use this to fire a bomb (like Warlock's Nova bomb) at the Oracle and it will one hit kill it - if you do this to the last Oracle to spawn, you can all leave the portal earlier and have more time damaging Atheon each cycle.

Unless you get extremely lucky, you're basically going to have to complete the Raid a dozen or so times minimum, including several times on hard mode.
I've played probably 4 hours a day plus (
) since the game came out and I only got my 2nd and 3rd characters to level 30 this weekend! Just need a decent helmet now, and alot of grinding. I take it you need armour that is is capable of 30 light points to reach level 30?
So for me to reach level 30 I need either a exotic helmet and a raid chest armour or a raid helmet.
I did pick up an exotic helmet for my warlock but shes only level 7 at the moment. Got a while to wait for that one.

Yeah, Level 30 is 120 Light.
Get an exotic helmet, you're far more likely to get any other piece of raid armour other than the helmet, which can only be obtained in the hard raid.
