Which one is that?
I'm on the look out for my nexttimewasting pit game and Alien:Isolation doesn't look like it's going to be it!
I'll recommend Far Cry 4 - currently 25 hrs in and just over 50% done. Never played a FC game before this and am enjoying it immensely, lots to do and not too repetitive. You can also play co-op but I've yet to do that since everyone I met through here is still on Destiny.I'm on the look out for my next
Look me up if you decide to take the plunge as I'd quite like to try the co-op angle, see how it fares

Crota's End makes the Vault of Glass look vanilla. Only got to the second stage but already so good.
There's no doubt that Destiny's gameplay and Raids are first class, to the extent that they make even the lack of content and grinding tolerable. The deal breaker for me was breaking the progression ladder - I get a lot of enjoyment out of playing towards a goal that has a permanent in-game reward, whether it's unlocking new in-game features, an item that can be used thereafter or even just a badge (armour/weapon skin) of accomplishment to display.
Destiny has just destroyed that model, in favour of a frankly bizarre one. If they persist with it, I could not play the game for the next 3 months, start up again the day the next DLC is released and be in exactly the same position as everyone who has been playing daily for the duration. Great for the casual gamer, but it's a big F U to committed players.
I'm finding myself in an unfamiliar position where destiny is concerned. I am really struggling to find enough time to do everything with 2 characters whereas before I was struggling to find things to do! I've still got a nightfall and weeekly to do, which is unheard of on a Thursday!
Everything seems to have become relevant again with the DLC. Vanguard marks and rep are important again and I finally have something to spend my shards on with new armour to level up.
So far, all my existing weapons have remained effective and useful. I will no doubt get some more powerful weapons eventually but, soloing the daily on lvl 30 with old legendaries (2 of which were not even maxed) was fine today. So yes, the new weapons may give you a damage advantage and when the hard raid arrives, will be essential I expect but, your favourite loadout can currently still be used to great effect.
I'm really excited about the new raid. By the time I did VoG, there were lots of people on the team who knew what to do and explained it all as we went (which was great). But, to be in there without having a clue and having to figure it all out is great fun! 2 of us popped into the second section last night, just to have a look around and see if we could work out what we need to do, bouncing ideas around and trying things out (and getting killed alot!)

Sounds good fella.
I understand the frustration of the more hardcore being left out in the cold. However, for us more causal players (perhaps a few hours a day every few days, peppered with a few marathon sessions), then there is not much to gripe about. I suppose we play to enjoy the excellent gun play and mainly, the banter and laughs. I've never felt like I've grinded anything. To cap it off, those that have played the DLC that I've spoken to think the content is decent enough although it does irk to know it was already on the disc.
Anyway, just a heads up, I want to run through the VoG sometime over the weekend, if anybody is about and obviously after doing as much as possible in the new raid. There are a few weapons that I want and also, it is a decent way to get some shards/energies.

I havent done the nightfall yet, you on this eve? could do a nightfall, daily combo from 6ish? That's great, Speckle - I'm jealous of you guys being able to do the new strikes and Raid, but consider where you'll be in mid-February.
You'll have no doubt completed the new Raid a few dozen times, including hard mode and will have pretty much all of the new Raid gear and maxed out the weapons.
You'll still be doing the same old Nightfall and Weekly strikes that you've done dozens of times before.
At that point, what will you be playing for? You'll have a month left before the new DLC and will have a maxed set of weapons and armour. If you're like me, the underlying aim of your gaming time will be to max out your spare weapons and armour, just to add some direction whilst you have fun.
I hope that Destiny then doesn't turn around and screw you by making better weapons and armour than the stuff you've spent weeks upgrading available to buy in the Tower or by making it so that you have to reset all that progress to zero and start levelling your weapons again to take them to the new level cap.
For me, that ruins the gaming experience, it makes it pointless to bother levelling up gear, which takes away the point of me logging on to play the game at times when none of my friends are on.
It's not just Destiny that I feel let down by though - I went back to BF4 last night after a 3 month break and it was truly terrible and that game has been out for over a year. Laggy as hell and still full of glitches. It's absolutely disgraceful how DICE has treated its customers.

Definitely the Nightfall tonight, and at least one daily if there is time.youngsyr said:

To be honest, I'll probably be a level 31, desperately trying to get my last bit of raid armour to make 32 and I'll have a vault full of weapons that I can't be bothered to max out because all my favourite 'go to' guns are maxed already. So, pretty much the position I was in a week ago. You'll have no doubt completed the new Raid a few dozen times, including hard mode and will have pretty much all of the new Raid gear and maxed out the weapons.

Then, when the new DLC drops, I'll be relieved that I can finally get to 32 and there will once again be lots of new stuff to do and I will still be able to use whichever weapons have become my staple loadout by then!
I honestly don't feel like I've been reset to zero at all. Instead, I feel like I suddenly have all these new goals and things to achieve which are a natural progression from where I was before. How others see me in the world of Destiny doesn't matter to me one bit (ie. as a veteran/experienced player or whatever) so, if we all have the same gear and light level now even though I raided more than some (but, less than others), that is ok by me because there are new levels now to try and achieve before they do
I don't mind doing the same nightfalls and stuff, I still find them a lot of fun. It is the fun I have with my fireteam and party chats that keep me coming back for more and that I hope will continue to do so
As someone who has been 30 for a while, I'm so glad there is progression again. I'd got all my armour full (including IB boots/gloves), maxed my favourite weapons, could complete anything easily. I was ready to drop the game purely because there was nothing else to do. The DLC is the much needed shot in the arm.
Me and my 3 friends are looking for 2 more regulars, we're thinking about doing HM VoG tonight, and then going in blind/fresh for Crota's End on Sunday. We're usually on most evenings from about 7 until midnight, as there's 4 of us it's always a bit awkward seeing how the game is geared to 3 or 6.
If anyone's interested just let me know, would mean we'd have a solid 6 man Iron Banner team too.

Tonight is a no-no for me owing to an xmas do. Actually, if you do see me online tonight, best stay away. You'll only have to deal with a maniac Hunter trying to arc-blade trees. I will be about over the weekend though and thankfully have Monday off. The free DC fighting game is already taking up way more of my time than this.
Which one is that?I'm on the look out for my next
I also considered Far Cry 4 but by all accounts it's very similar to the previous one and I just didn't gel with number 3. Found it got very boring\samey very quickly and the competitive multiplayer was crap.
God help me I'm so desperate I am almost considering trying CoD again!

So, Xur is back for the first time after the DLC.
Weapon for sale is Truth (I shan't bother with this as I have Gjalllahorn so, will wait for the upgrade opportunity)
I can buy a new exotic helmet for my Hunter and can choose to upgrade my Warlock's exotic helmet too so, pretty happy about that.
Exotic Helm engram for motes of light so, will try this before spending any coins.
I can also swap my Last Word for a new version if I want (I only use it for fun though so, may not bother)
Overall, not a bad Xurday for me

Hey Speckle where is he?
Next to the crucible quatermaster, I like the fact that you can 'upgrade' the exotics you have to the new spec, just have to wait for him to allow my helmet upgrade. Not sure I'll bother with my hand cannon.ETA - Upgraded The Last Word, puts it straight to 302 points but wipes all the upgrades, so you have to start at scratch again, worthwhile doing if you haven't already upgraded as you go
