OK couple of challenge, on the off chance i manage to get to Xur this weekend I want to upgrade my Suros but the thought ouf doing all the upgrades again is daunting. Secondly my helm is not on this weeks upgrade list

Do you have any motes of light? I had 53 and bought two helmet engrams, resulting in the daft-punk LED-style lid for my titan and the symbiote helmet I wanted for my hunter.

Do you mean Ritual of the Forsaken, the final bit after killing the Knight on a public event? If so, I've got to do it. TimH and I were working on it today and I'll be up for doing it tomorrow day. I haven't looked at what to do though, so am happy to be led.

I did the ritual strike earlier and it's easy to cheese on your own (I did the level 30 strike with my level 29 hunter), just remain in the final room's entrance doorway and it stays open allowing you to take cover and regen. All I got for the questline was some level 31 gauntlets. I don't think I'll bother doing it for my other characters.

I took the last list and updated it from the subsequent pages.

There are a couple of names that keep cropping up yet I can't see them on the list, or their gamer tags. Particularly Digitalize and Rutter.

Youngs, your still top of the list. Stop fannying about and buy the DLC.

I'm pretty sure I have most of the regulars and a few of the casuals on my list - please feel free to send me an invite if not, I'm on pretty much every day. Always up for running any dailies/bounties/weeklies/nightfalls that I haven't already done (and occasionally that I have already done just for kicks ). Make sure you put 'PH' in the subject as I seem to be getting lots of friend requests from randoms lately!

I'll be glad when all my new armour is maxed out, the daily grind for helium filaments and glimmer is pretty time consuming! Haven't got enough Vanguard marks to chuck it away on materials so, spending lots of time patrolling the moon lately!

I put a few hours into it yesterday, basically just checking out what there still is left to do. I'm not bothered about the new DLC so much as it's just unlocking more gear to grind to level up, without really adding anything to the game.

I'm struggling to find another game to play though, BF4 and Alien:Isolation aren't ticking my box and I have to wait till Xmas for GTA V and Far Cry as they're on my Xmas list, so I'll just get to level 31 whilst helping my brother out completing the core game.

I hope Bungie will listen to the feedback and add something a bit more substantial in the House of Wolves DLC in March, but I doubt they will - seems enough people have bought season passes that it doesn't really matter what they put out, they've already got their money.

Struggling to see any other way of looking at it, given that the pic below shows the activities non-DLC owners were locked out of on Thursday and again today. That's twice in one week and on a Saturday - a pretty low tactic.

I've got to admit, if I didn't have the DLC, this part of things would annoy me. They could at least have made sure that the daily missions were all from the launch package this week and then added the DLC missions to the daily rotation next week once the Nightfall and Weekly strikes are available to everyone again.

Having said all that, if it irked me that much not to be able to play the new content, I would simply buy the DLC and solve the problem (not suggesting you should do this, it is just what I would do)

For me it's partly a principle thing - the DLC just doesn't contain enough content for me to shell out £20 for it and I don't want to encourage developers to pump out lacklustre products.

Bungie then trying to force me to buy it to have any content at all to (meaningfully) play is just beyond the pale.

Another big factor for me is that I've spent a lot of time grinding to get exotics and raid legendaries maxed out. With the DLC, Bungie have basically made all that time worthless - I either have to cancel it out and start grinding again, or bin the gear completely and get new gear. I find it hard to motivate myself to do that grinding when (a) there's so little new content and (b) it will probably all be worthless come March when the new DLC comes out.

The variety of content is both an insult, and poor value for money, with one obvious exception....The Raid. Is the raid itself worth £20? I would say that it was.

I don't think much has changed to be honest. If you want to be in the top few percent, you still have to do the Raid to get the armour and grind accordingly. What's available to buy will only get you so far.

The exotic weapon reset starts the weapon off at a higher damage than it already is. Certain perks make the weapon, such as heat seeking, invisibility etc, but these soon level up. I thought the reset would lower the weapons damage initially with the damage upgrades coming in higher increments, but this is not the case.

The game is what you make of it. If you have to grind because you have to max everything out and be in the elusive 30/32 light category, then it would certainly get tedious. If you're happy to play it fairly casually and rely on your stronger team mates to help, then it's still an enjoyable game. I have quite a few weapons and bits of armour needing upgrades. I can't be bothered to farm the required amount of time to upgrade them so they'll stay as they are for a while.

The co-op aspect is still terrific and things still die when I shoot them. That's good enough for me (for the time being).

Fair enough, but you can only complete the Raid (or at least be rewarded for playing it) once per week, so what do you do with the rest of the time you want to play?

Bungie's answer seems to be: grind XP/materials/etc to level up gear and armour, which for the old exotics, many of us have already spent a lot of time grinding to level up and which presumably will all need to be done again come the next DLC in March.

It was dull enough grinding it out the first time, but to keep on doing it over and over with barely any new content just doesn't inspire me.

They haven't even made it easy to reset your weapons - 7,500+ glimmer plus an exotic shard for each weapon/piece of armour. I would need over 200,000 glimmer and around 30 exotic shards just to reset all my gear. Then I'd have to grind again to level it up.

Then don't forget you can only earn XP on one piece of exotic armour and one exotic weapon at a time, we're talking litterally millions of XP required to relevel all my kit - with just 2 new (replayable) missions and 2 strikes (Raids don't give XP).

Do something else. You can't force content that isn't there. You are certainly good/levelled up enough to have fun in the raid without the grinding. Raiding 2/3 times a week, for profit and for helping others is worth the price point.

I am in complete agreement with you. I wasn't going to buy it, then I spoke to Speckle and his enthusiasm wore off and I realised the amount of fun I'd miss out on for the sake of 20 quid. The first couple of forays into the VoG are in the top few of my gaming experiences (nearly 30 years worth!).
