Just wait until you get your next one and it decides to be for the wrong class.
I can beat that, I have now had 4, 3 lots of shards and one Warlock helmet (playing as a Titan)oh well, at least by the time Xur turns up next weekend I should have enough coins/motes that I can get an exotic then have enough Vangards marks to get another legendary which should get me to 29.
I still can't seem to get the first expansion mission right though, I have tried three times and still end up getting stuck in a kill loop with the final boss, I get him down to 10% health then end up backing myself into a corner and getting wiped out.
I'll be up for that. Having said that, there'll most likely be 12 of us around so 2 groups running.
I had a productive day today- managed to get my Hunter to level 31 and my (newish) Warlock from level 9 to 17. I have a stack of (new) legendary items for him so the run to 31 should be quick. I hope!
Good luck to those trying Crota tonight.

Okay so, killing Crota is harder than I thought it would be!!
Not entirely sure what went wrong last night but, we just couldn't get it to run smoothly at all. I think we managed one successful sword but, even then only got 3 hits on him which isn't going to be enough. Didn't help that we had a random without a mic (not sure why we didn't boot him immediately) who seemed intent on doing his own thing. It also didn't help that we kept getting people drop out and so the whole thing had to be explained and roles assigned from scratch.
A few things I think we need to make sure of next time.
- Initial enemies must be killed rather than avoided so the snipers position is safe.
- No randoms without a mic!
- Whoever gets the chalice initially must also shoot the swordbearer to entice him over to where the rest of the team are (didn't realise this last night!)
- Whoever gets the sword must also have the chalice of light so, the rest of the team should only take it to replenish health if they are in the red and ideally not until the after the second sword is finished and we are all in the room at the bottom (easier said that done I know).
- We need 2 snipers for the knights in the tower (and the one that periodically drops to the walkway), ideally with icebreakers. This is their only job unless someone dies (in which case, everyone shoots the sky or else we will wipe!) The remaining 3 focus only on killing the swordbearer and taking down Crotas shield. We have to either do this more quickly before Crota moves or, wait until he runs back to centre before killing the swordbearer.
- we need to communicate the shield better to the sword carrier (this was my fault last night, I was trusting too much to luck with my "just shoot him" tactic and invariably got to his feet too late!)
It seems clear that level 30 is the absolute minimum requirement. Anything less than that and you simply won't do enough damage.
I left feeling pretty frustrated last night at how hard it had seemed but, then realised that if we had faced Atheon without really knowing what was going on, what with all the teleporting and relics etc., that would also have been a bit of a headf*ck. I think we know what needs doing, we just need to practice a few times and string it all together.
I'll be on tonight for 2 x Nightfall, dailies and maybe 2 x weeklies if there is time

I'll be home at about 8pm and plan to do the Nightfall for all 3 of my characters. Last week was mainly spent leveling up new armour so I only completed the Nightfall for my Titan. I'd also like to do 3 shard runs through the VoG quite early in the week so I can get at least one of my characters to 31 by the weekend. I have a feeling a VoG run will be quicker than the Nightfall as we did it in about 45 minutes last week
I've done 3 VoG runs in the past 7 days and gradually got slower on each occasion (). Ranged from >1 hour with no wipes to about 2 hours yesterday. Complacency and getting booted can be painful.
If any of those you're planning are at the hard level, give me a shout. I am going to do that first, this week for 2x the reward table. This has got to be the quickest way to shards. I then plan to have a normal run through over the weekend as well. The hard raid should be doable with mainly 30s and a few 31s.

There was talk of a hard VoG raid tonight. I think some people were going to start it last night but not sure if that happened (I'd had enough after 2 x nightfall, 2 x weekly & 2 x daily)If any of those you're planning are at the hard level, give me a shout. Anyone having a crack at the iron banner tournament?
I've been playing quite a bit of Crucible to get my fix rather than fretting over the DLC, but they haven't exactly made it very rewarding this time around - level 31 gloves and boots that are pretty much identical to the ones offered by the normal vendors and only a half decent level 330 sniper rifle and autorifle at rep level 4 and 5 respectively - so, in short a lot of grinding to get very similar gear to what is freely available from the vendors.
Reforging weapons won in the last tournament doesn't increase their max level from 300 either, so they're resigned to the scrap heap too (really glad I spent hours gaining the rep to buy them just a few weeks ago!).
I really want to find reasons to keep playing Destiny as it shows so much promise and has great gameplay, but I'm really struggling. Despite the frankly absurd amount of time I have available to play, I'm rarely on at peak times, so I don't get what seems to be the final remaining selling point of playing in fireteams.

Iron Banner is possibly the biggest let down so far. With IB2, you could at least grind for hard raid level gear that couldn't be purchased. As I appear to have been very lucky in getting enough level 31 gear from engrams and rewards for all three of my characters, I have zero reason to go near IB3. As for IB, it is disappointing. I do like some PvP and so this could have been an easy way to get some lvl 32 gear. That'll probably appear in IB4. It isn't worth the hassle at the minute.
Youngs- I promise I am not sponsored by Bungie, but the new PvP maps are pretty good. There's one particularly large map (with vehicles) that reminds me of some of the larger Halo 2/3 maps. It is quite satisfying to nail a camping sniper with a rocket from a tank-thingy.
IB seems pointless without raid level gear. IB1 was 27 light, IB2=30, IB3=33 so IB4 will probably be raid level gear.
It obviously encourages people to do the raid. I put the hours in yet don't manage to raid regularly due to working alternate weekends, as such I always feel underequipped. RNG hates me and I've never got any weapon from the crucible.
