Did most of the Crota raid twice (without killing Crota) and got all 3 pieces of gear. Seems that this time it is the opposite of VoG - e.g. easy to get the gear but hard to get the shards.

Gutted my Vex M is now lower attack rating than the upgraded exotics. Still got a Hawkmoon 2.0 on my first time run through of the new Vanguard ROC strike.

Glad it's arc damage nightfall again so I can use the Fatebringer + patience and Time combo.

Probably a stupid question, but are raid shards required for raid gear? I know we've now got exotic shards and runed cores.

Yes, Crota's End raid gear requires radiant materials to upgrade. Ascendant materials can be used on the new vendor legendaries so there is still a use for them until you are at level 31, then they become totally redundant.

Looks like I've finally kicked my Destiny addiction. Wahoo!!

I've not played since the DLC release. I think I'll check back from time to time hoping Bungie sort out the game updates and money grabbing DLC content - Yeah, like that'll happen!

Such a shame, almost an epic game and Bungie decide to go the wrong way with it. I'd love to see the stats and what percentage of players stopped playing with the DLC release.

Well, I'm still enjoying it immensely! I even enjoy playing the same old daily missions and weekly strikes, the gameplay is still outstanding and playing with friends is still very enjoyable to me. The DLC has been worth the money for the raid alone!

A few of us had a bash at the VoG hard raid confluxes last night. Three lvl 31s and three 30s and we still failed miserably hehe It was mostly stupid things like getting marked by fanatics after the templar summoned his legions. Any time more than 2 guardians died, it was basically a wipe due to no revives. Hoping to give this a more serious go over the weekend. I NEED Fatebringer!!

I managed to solo the first two parts of the new raid last night with my Warlock (First part was tricky, second part not quite as impressive as it sounds if you check youtube!) and got some raid gloves smile Also solo'd the first part with my Hunter which was much easier as a bladedancer but, couldn't manage the second part alone. Completed it with a friend (admittedly, he did all the heavy lifting) and then we failed to get to the second chest in time. I'm going to try for the second chest with my Warlock tomorrow.

I'll then have the checkpoint for the wizards/shriekers bit with both characters in time for the weekend. I'm hoping the Crota section goes alot smoother this time around smile

An amusing if somewhat frustrating night last night, lots of tactics tried, lots of tactics failed.

My theory on this is that the thrall are somehow activated by/attracted to the lamps. The fewer lamps you activate, the less thrall you encounter. It is only really the first two lamps and the last one you need to worry about if you're going to use the second lamps explosion to boost you to the upper level like I did.

It was much harder with my Warlock but, a combination of solar grenades, an exploding melee attack and a fair bit of luck and I got through it in the end (on about my 7th attempt admittedly!)

I cant see how you got around the spawn point on the hill?

I basically went around the back of a rock. I did think that the thrall might be on some sort of spawn timer and, due to the fact that I skipped about 8 lamps, I got there way before they spawned. However, on one (failed) attempt with my Warlock, I activated the final lamp by accident and I was very quickly surrounded by the little b*ggers!!

Did you hide when the legions are summoned?

After a few times through it you get a pretty good idea of when the legions will be summoned and you can then either get in the Spirit Bloom Chest room or up on top of the pillar just opposite it and just stay there until the legions despawn.

I think it speeds up the despawning if you shoot a few from the door of the room or the top of the pillar.

Then do the Oracles and Templar from the ledge.

Cheers Tim.

I've got level 31 armour that I've not been upgrading because I thought I was saving ascendant shards for raid armour. Are ascendant shards only for level 31 armour and raid gear uses only raid shards?

We hid in the chest room but, one or two of us just got sloppy when we thought we'd got the the 'easy bit' and just made stupid mistakes, got frustrated and disbanded after only a few attempts. I'm sure with a bit more focus and concentration, we should manage to reach the oracles.

Ascendant shards are for all armour of level 31 (33 light per item) and below, including the VoG raid armour. It is only the Crota's End raid reward armour which is level 32 (36 light per item) that requires the Radiant shards (which are only obtained through chests and rewards in the raid itself).

Hope that helps.

Tim.

Well, well, well. Worked like a frikkin charm biggrin

There were a few wipes in following the video including falling off the ledge, into a pit of waiting thralls hehe and also being blown up by the lamp. A lot.

But then it came altogether and I managed to bag the raid gloves in the process. thumbup

I'm trying to solo the next part but it is tough as a hunter. The sword disappears mid-flight. frown

Cheers, Speckle, for the heads up.
