Once at level 20, do you only gain "light" if you have also finished the story missions? I don't seem to be getting any light no matter what I try, perhaps I'm just unlucky so far?

Yes, you basically gain light (which is attached to items of armour as far as I can tell) but, you have to have those items equipped. You also collect things such as motes of light and strange coins which you can ultimately use to buy legendary items. I got to 'level' 21 without really knowing how I managed it but, I equipped pieces of armour which I had found laying around.

I'm quite enjoying the strangers rifle, only started using it today no more time to play today but, will try to add more of the list tomorrow - I'm going to have a go at my strike list :-)

Yep had a great game with you on some challenging missions, well challenging for a lowly level 15 anyway. I also appreciated your more gung-ho dive right in to the middle of a group of enemies gamestyle, a slight change from my more measured shoot everything from as far away as possible approach :-)

Looking forward to playing so more co-op as it really does come into it's own on the higher up you go.

No need to do all the story missions - I jumped into a fireteam and finished the last mission out of sequence, so have seen the (current) ending, but still haven't finished all the Mars missions and am now level 22, with around 34 light points from armour I've found along the way.

Make sure to upgrade the defence stat on the blue armour as this will bump up your light a bit too. As a general rule you'll need pretty much all level 20 blue gear to get to level 24 and then to get to 25 and beyond you'll need legendary and exotic gear. Getting up to level 30 means lots of upgrading that armour and lots of farming for consumables.

Played with Speckle in the week when he was doing his venus bounty .

I tried to batter mars on hard at level 16 on saturday with a level 20 mate .Got the final boss , then died and ran out of time as a guest just knocked the door .
I also did my first strike mission (the spider) which wasnt too bad

Perhaps this is it - I don't seem to pick up any level 20 gear at all (even though I am level 20) - it all seems to be level 18. I did actually get a bit of armor yesterday as a mission reward that had 8 light, but that's the first that I've seen / got, that was level 18 too

Seem to get a lot of crappy drops - low level green stuff and no new weapons for ages

Not sure there is level 20 armour, but in any case it's not the armour level you need to worry about, it's the light level.

Only blue armour and above (purple and gold) have a light level, and not all blue armour has a light level. I also haven't picked up any new armour with light for a while and I've been farming and doing strikes etc.

Re the weapons - I'm not sure the attack rating means anything? I started a new character and used a level 4 scout rifle right up to level 11 and it was still effective.

There is level 20 armour most definitely. I found when I got to level 22 I started to get blue drops more often, slowly getting the odd bit of level 20 gear to push me slowly up the ranks. Now I'm level 25 I'm seeing a lot more blue drops and the odd purple. So I think better kit drops more regularly as you level up.

Haha, yeah I do tend to dive right in - not a tactic which is always entirely successful but, usually lots of fun!

I've started building up a warlock character now, I'm interested to see how their abilities differ to my Hunter.

Hi Chaps,

What's the verdict on this game? I was big fan of Halo 3, shortish story line, but played hours and hours online (in-fact got a 5 Star General rank). Now days I just play single player as don't have as much time to play.

I've heard the storyline only takes about 8 hours so not really worth the £50 IMO. Have I heard wrong, or is there much more to single player campaign?

found it crap myself. level 20 and bored of it. loved bf4, played to level 130 with hundreds of hours of play, this seems shockingly ste/basic but maybe i am missing something.
