That's the problem with the game - you very quickly get to the point where you only need Raid gear or a select few exotics, so the Nightfall is only useful for the XP boost. 
Then, once we've been through the hard raid a few times, there will be little left to achieve in-game until the next DLC.
Hopefully that's only a few (well, about 6) weeks away now and they won't completely throw out the progression ladder like they did last time. Upgrading VoG and Crota's End weapon and armour drops to the new max level -1 would be a good start to keep the old content relevant.
Then, once we've been through the hard raid a few times, there will be little left to achieve in-game until the next DLC.

Kind of - there was an offer on for the Limited Edition of Destiny for £40 and this includes the first two DLCs, so after selling my standard edition for £20 on ebay, the first two DLCs cost me around £10 each.
Plus it meant that I didn't buy the DLC specifically, I bought an upgraded Day 1 version of the game that included it, so it satisfied my need not to encourage outrageous Bungie's DLC policy!
As for the weekly/Nightfalls - they are much easier as part of a team.

In other brilliant news Borderlands is coming to PS4 in March and I can't wait. For those that don't know it's basically a less polished/MMO style RPGFPS that is bursting with character, story, jokes and general fun.
What an outstanding night I had last night.
From the 3 Nightfalls I got an exotic chest piece for my Hunter, a legendary arc sniper and Suros Regime
From the raid I got the boots I needed so I'll have my 2nd lvl 32 by tonight (almost completely levelled the armour already), another Light of the abyss and Red Death.
3 x exotics and the raid drop I needed, that makes me a happy Guardian!
Excellent raid last night, really smooth and killed Crota in 3 swords with a lvl 31 swordbearer!
Hard raid tonight - going to be interesting!!

Ascendant shards still highly relevant to us mortals who as still mucking about in normal legendary armour Must get some better gear! I need about 30 or so to level everything up and only have 6 Gazzas86 said:

There always is dude, I wouldn't worry. I think I did the Nightfall about 5 times last week helping the usual lot out. It is quite enjoyable/a challenge when not raiding. Just jump into any party chat and ask. Fear not. Will level 31 good guys in hard CE be the same as level 28s in hard VoG? ie 2 levels below the baddies, or have I got it wrong as usual?
I reckon I need another 6 or so raids to get the 2 bits of armour and required materials I need for 32, so whilst the raid veterans are hard raiding there must be enough level 30/31s to get a fireteam together to hit it over the weekend.
There seems to be 2 established raid teams on my friends list, Speckles' and Carbons', with people flitting between the 2 when space allows. Would be good if we could get at least another team going, so any of the newcomers, put your name on the list, send friend requests and update your post with it. Any high 20s who want to VoG for ascendants stick a post up here and we can try and organise that as well.

Really enjoyed our first attempt at the hard raid last night.
No revives was totally expected and made things interesting!
The lamps were funny - the cursed thralls and knights have yellow health and the number of thrall is just insane!! Voidwalker warlock with obsidian helm seemed to work well, there were times when my super would regen immediately if the mob was big enough!!
Very happy to see that my Fatebringer was still working well
The bridge was tricky as the ads on the other side don't ignore you initially like before and the lvl 31s definitely struggled here holding the totems. As we managed to get 5 of us over (might have been 4, can't recall), we made pretty short work of the ogres and communication was good.
Got the 2nd chest ok on our first attempt
Ir Yut was made more difficult with the timing. No sooner had we killed the wizards, the 20 second liturgy began so no time to hang about here at all! We didn't quite kill her and called it a night shortly after but, this part is very do-able.
Heard a few things about the Crota fight that are going to make life very difficult (I predict many, many wipes!)

All in all a good night's gaming - can't wait to get back in there tonight!!
