Are the new missions in the DLC all level 30+ in any case i.e. they assume you've maxed out in the main game?
Normal is 24, Hard is 30. Caters for both really.

The engram this week isn't for a helmet, it's for gauntlets
Booo hissss

I wanted try for that funky one Kaney was using last night, only because it would look good with my shader smile
Don't know if it will turn out to be worthwhile, but I've started stockpiling legendary and exotic engrams ready for the next DLC in 6 weeks time.

I'm hoping that they won't be "dated" and so will drop new legendary/exotic level items once House of Wolves is out. Even if they are dated and just drop level 31/32 items, I'm going to get my Cryptarch level to 99% of the level and then leave it, so that I can pop all 3 characters' levels the day of the DLC release and hopefully get some "new" legendary engrams that way.

Haven't got anything to lose either way really, as I have no use for any new legendary items and have all of the exotics in the game apart from a couple (notably Gjallarhorn and Mythoclast!).

That sounds like a good plan hope it works, may give it a go too.

If I remember rightly people did this before, the engrams are locked to what could be dropped when they did I believe.

I've got enough Motes, might take a punt on the next helmet engram that pops up.

Had my first proper go at being swordbearer last night (on normal, not hard!). Took a couple of goes to get the hang of it and the character I was using is only lvl 31 so, took 4 swords rather than 3 but, it was easier than I thought it would be. It is quite easy to lose your bearings though when trying to get away from Crota quickly!

Was refreshing to try a different role and, I managed to snag the raid helmet for my trouble so, will be able to run the lamps as a lvl 32 with 'don't touch me' gauntlets on smile

Finally levelled my Hunter to the 20 stage, Solo'd the lamps on Normal at 28, invisibility and Don't Touch Me makes it ridiculously easy. Got the arms for my troubles. Shame that's my exotic slot!

You did well when you had a go for the first time last week. When I was getting the hang of the relic in VoG, it's that same feeling of disorientation when exiting the portal and trying to work out where the middle was. I don't advocate people sticking to the same roles. I think people should have a go at the different aspects, and if it doesn't work out for that run, who cares? Practice makes perfect, and the team will be stronger for having people who can do it all.

GLIMMER FARMING - EXCLUSION ZONE:
Would this be more effective as a pair? Doing it solo I manage about 5 waves in 10 minutes. Would doubling the fire power and dispatching 10 waves of Cabal equal double the glimmer for each person, rather than that figure being split between the 2? I've been on a weapon levelling mission recently and am constantly low.

Would be more effective with two players. smile

All players in the fireteam get the same XP and glimmer, so if both have the boost on, both get the additional glimmer even if one does all the killing and the other stands and watches.

Might take a bit longer for both of you to wipe at the end of a wave though.

Hhhmmmm.....might be worth a test to see how much more fruitful it is. I know what you mean about wiping, you run up to the last 1 or 2 red ones left and it seems to take ages for them to punch/shoot you to death!! Although standing on your own grenade does speed things up somewhat.

I'll be on between 12-4 tomorrow so if you want to CE or attempt your flawless VoG, gissa shout.

Flat-out

Awesome save.

Still haven't completed Crota. Got close tonight with 3 randoms but hopefully doing it tomorrow with a full group of regulars. Used a new tactic to put a bubble where the Left/Right Crota points are, boomers just shoot that. Worked well but had a random bail on us after about 30 mins, and ran out of time.

Despite 8 chances of a weapon dropping for me so far, I've had nothing.

Personally, I prefer to glimmer farm solo as I find I can be much more efficient. Nova bomb and obsidian mind will help you here, and knowing the mechanics of where the majors move. After you deploy your nova bomb and mop up a bit on the lower level, I usually move across and up to the bunker. Depending on the timing, I can usually turn and snipe the 3 or 4 remaining majors quickly and easily as they approach from the trench. I'll make a video later this morning.

The reds drop from the ship first, then about 5 seconds later the yellows have dropped and tend to huddle in a group so you can wipe out about 5 of them straight away with a nova bomb. I'm levelling up my bad juju, so this should help. Make a note of how much glimmer you gain in the 10 minutes will you please Speck? If partnering up is >50% more efficient then it makes sense to me.

Just spent half an hour farming (and like an idiot, forgot to save the video despite that being the main reason for doing it - Doh!!) but, I went from 10k glimmer to 22k plus, I had picked up 10 of those network keys, so another 2k to turn in. I was clearing approximately 8 waves per 10 minutes.

Happy to try doubles if you catch me online later on thumbup

I try to keep network keys etc in my vault for those times when you've got limited time to unlock the ability to buy kit and don't have time to glimmer farm and do the required activity (like Iron Banner).

You can store 200 per slot in the vault, equivalent to 40,000 glimmer.

I averaged roughly 3500 for every 10 minute stint, so not dissimilar. Definitely up for a twos up, as it's just another boring grind and would be happy to cut it down a bit.
