Hard to say as it depends entirely on the team. A full team of first timers could well spend several hours on it! I wouldn't worry though, if you've had enough after an hour or, you have to go for whatever reason, you keep the checkpoint of whichever part you get to until the next reset.

Nope, I'm determined to see it through, although it looks like I won't be on until 9:30 now. If people are still on happy days, if not I'll run a few bounties to buff up my No Land Beyond

May as well end the game now - once everyone has No Land Beyond, even the hardest Nightfall is just a walk in the park. 
We should probably ask Bungie to allow us to take on missions 5+ levels above our light level and then downgrade our armour just to make it fair.
Will be picking up a couple of chest engrams to store in the vault until the next DLC, just in case they aren't dated.

The first recording and upload (for me) of our Crota will with me as Swordbearer, rather than our guru Kaney. It was only on NM so no big deal, but, we did manage to kill him with 2 swords only so that was good going
A couple of issues which mark me as a n00b swordbearer though:-
- forgetting to pick up the chalice when first getting down there. I blame playing too much of HM.
- the SHEER PANIC in me shouting GO GO GO when (a) not necessary and (b) it wasn't the right time anyway.
- not anticipating the sword disappearing and therefore missing the ledge when running back to the crystal room.
- being far too close to Crota just before the final set of swings- I wouldn't have survived HM
... still it was good fun as demonstrated by me going mental with the sword afterwards.
I'll stick it up on the Icebreakerss clan forum so Kaney can critique. It is good that we have back-up sword-bearers and I think we have a few now. Plus- I didn't waste many rockets.

Other than that final run, the whole normal mode Crota fight was a bit of a shambles last night until that one - bit too much complacency after HM earlier in the evening I think.
I've only run the sword a couple of times, once on normal and once on hard but, in terms of the timing, I usually shout go when I'm on the ledge and facing Crota and then jump as soon as I see a rocket about to hit him. That way I get to him just as he starts to kneel.
I'm always happy to be sword carrier and, I get the feeling that Kaney is becoming a bit bored of being expected to do it all the time. Only thing to bear in mind is, it doesn't usually go as smoothly when he isn't on the sword (as we proved last night!!) and by that point, people are usually keen to finish.
Back to our mate Xur - just decrypted a couple of my engrams and got Heart of Praxic Fire
and Crest of Alpha Lupi (for Warlock), also picked up Voidfangs just because...And I still have about 125 coins left!

There is an option in the "share" menu that is something like "share audio with recordings" which needs to be ticked. I couldn't tell you where precisely it is.

That is the safest way of doing it. Having said that, Kaney is normally already smashing away at him as he starts the animation of going down. Take a look at his clutch-kill video. The logic is that you can get your 3 hits and be away long before he starts to get up. Obviously, I went far too early for the last set of swings last night. Speckle said:

Don't forget, Kaney has had loads of practice now and refined his timing. I also want to try crouching on the ledge for invis, then jumping to the ledge as I shout go to be at his feet before he kneels. That and using blink strike between knees. All sounds easy in theory but, in the midst of the fight, may not go quite as smoothly as it does in my head Flat-out said:

I think I now have around 340 synths between my characters....should be alright for a few week Oh, and I had a very quick play with NLB on patrol.....I actually quite like it!!
