I'm a level 25 hunter but ever so close to level 26 now. Hopefully will have reached that by tomorrow. I'll be on earlier than 9pm but will look out for you then.
Good luck with it, I think you might struggle against the level 28 enemies, but it can be done. Good guide here on what to do:I'm a level 25 hunter but ever so close to level 26 now. Hopefully will have reached that by tomorrow. I'll be on earlier than 9pm but will look out for you then.

I'm planning on having a crack at it over the weekend with some mates.
I have a question. Since getting to level 20 I've got a few armour items with light. However, the defense points associated with some of those items are less than items i have with no light. For example my current helmet is 161 defense, but i could swap it for one with 141 defense but also +2 light.
At present I'm thinking that I'm better off with the additional defense points than the +2 light, but I'm still a bit confused by the level 20+ side of Destiny despite reading a fair bit about it. Should light always be quipped by default, or is it more of a balancing act?

Thanks for that. Not sure what platform you're on but you're more than welcome to join us! Same goes for anybody else about- I had some decent successes at the Queens Wrath with Teampenguin and Quietstorm the other night. Hopefully you fellas will be about later. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/destiny/2...

Go for the light item dude. You're missing the likely fact that you will have upgraded your existing armour via experience points... and one or two of those upgrades will be "enhance defence power" which is why it appears more defensively strong. However, once you will have upgraded your light-equipped items, you'll most likely surpass the level of your current armour. At present I'm thinking that I'm better off with the additional defense points than the +2 light, but I'm still a bit confused by the level 20+ side of Destiny despite reading a fair bit about it. I am coming from this strictly from the point of view that to level up, you need to increase your light levels. Doing so unlocks aspects of the game that will be otherwise inaccessible.
How are you guys generally getting your legendary gear in order to level up past 20? I've got all rare gear now fully upgraded but that's only given me enough "light" to get to level 21.4 so I'm guessing I need some legendaries but I've yet to see a purple engram drop anywhere, so am I better off buying the stuff somewhere?
The only place I seem to be able to get any though is the Vanguard dude but he wants 65 odd points for some chest armour and I've only got 37 after all of this playing so that seems like a non-starter
Are there any tricks out there I'm missing or is it just a case of keep plugging away and hope for the drops? (Yes, I'm impatient to level up )

Apologies to superstreek (teampenguin) who joined my fireteam last night just as I was watching the end story of the Daily heroic mission! Bailed and went to bed straight after. Should be back on tonight though if anyone's interested.
No worries, was a little surreal as it said joining fire team then straight to credits, took me a moment to work out what was going on. Flat-out said:

Was chasing getting the explosive rounds for the sniper rifle but got a new rifle instead with much higher damage so now what to do?
All going well I should be on again tonight.

I'll bet that a lot of your blue armour is for level 18 rather than 20. It tends to be a slow trickle to get first blue stuff for level 20, then legendaries. The only place I seem to be able to get any though is the Vanguard dude but he wants 65 odd points for some chest armour and I've only got 37 after all of this playing so that seems like a non-starter

Tips for getting it higher are to do the weekly strikes which give you strange coins that you can spend with Xur at the weekends for exotic gear and make sure you do lots of vanguard bounties and the daily mission each day to get your vanguard marks up, even doing the strike playlist will help there. Also keep an eye on http://destinypublicevents.com/ which will tell you when the public events happen on each planet, as they're a good way to rank up your vanguard marks too. You can only make 100 of these each week (Tuesday to Tuesday) but that's enough to get yourself some legendary kit.
You can also do Crucible marks by playing the PvP, not to mention the three other factions to gain rep with.

You can do it much lower than the suggested level if you just ensure you only do the Earth mission (selection is random, but just go back to orbit and select again if it isn't Earth). Then get as high a solar sniper rifle as possible and at least 3 special weapon ammo synths and hide out in the corridor before the room where the boss comes out of the wall, sniping at the shielded shanks and anything else that comes into view. Be very careful though - even one direct hit can kill you at the lower armour levels!

Nice, which class would you say is the most useful for PvE and PvP? I rocking a titan at the moment but would like to give one of the others a try.Overall though, they seem nicely balanced - Titan has some great powers in defensive, can put up a shield that is impenetrable to fire and can be upgraded so that any teammate who enters it temporarily gains an additional shield when they leave it. That sub-class for titan also generates lots of orbs for things like machine gun kills and melee kills. I've also picked up an exotic helmet that makes any enemy who enters the shield blind, so could be very useful for trapping enemies.
Warlock has an ability that can bring yourself back from the dead, i.e. a free respawn, which is obviously extremely useful in PvE.
Hunter is very quick and nimble and has some bad ass offensive abilities - throwing knife and golden gun.
So, all in all, they're all good and I like playing them all.
The slog to get them to 20 was a bit of a grind though - I would say save your best weapons at each level on the way up in your vault - it will make levelling up your next character a lot easier/more fun.
