The Abyss really isn't that tough to learn - in all but one instance you can see the next lamp from the current one. Trust me, if I can get it down, any one can!lovechild said:

I should be on at about 1:30. I may not be on for long but I do have the gorgon maze checkpoint (cheers youngsyr) and hard mode Crota battle checkpoint. If you see me drop me a message and I can start them up for people :-) If people see this and are up for it, stick a time down that suits. Anytime from the next couple of hours onwards works for me.

I want to run a couple of Crota HM checkpoints and Deathsinger CPs (either hard or normal), so if you're around later on and looking to do them, give me a shout!

Had my first go at vog on normal after reaching lvl 26. Added a few people from the destiny forums and 4 of us were first timers. It was an absolute chore over around 3 hours. Got as far as atheon and decided to pack it in for the day. The lvl 32 was at least patient with us all showing us what to do etc. Came to the conclusion that I need to jump a few levels before I give it another go. My weapons are pretty infective. Only have a legendary fusion and rocket launcher. My primary weapons are not up to it. Guess it's back to the grind.
I'm not sure if I should be disappointed with my haul, or whether I'm just being greedy.
- Bagged two exotics from NM Crota runs. Granted, No Land Beyond and Dragon's Breath aren't exactly uncommon. I've already had each drop at least twice previously. Sharded.
- Bagged raid helmets for both Warlock and Hunter, neither of which I had. Hunter helmet looks great, though both give me a bit of flexibility when choosing my loadouts for future Crota runs rather than having to opt for exotic helm to maintain light level 32.
- VoG Hard Mode Gatekeeper - Ascendant shards
- Vog HM Atheon - Timebreaker Sparrow, more ascendant mats. Still no Vex, still no vision of Confluence. And of course, still no ****ing Gjallarhorn!
Fun as always raiding with you guys this afternoon and on reflection I came out of it pretty well. NM Crota netted me a second Blackhammer which is nice and I really enjoyed my first ever foray into being the swordbearer, certainly something to practice when folks have the time and perhaps more importantly the patience to allow me to do so. Cheers for lesson there lovechild 
HM Crota was then started and I think I may have even seen lamp 9 or 10 at one point with my slow as hell Titan but he was never destined to get to the end of the Abyss. Picked up Oversoul Edict there and shards. Bridge cheesed and picked up Abyss Defiant and some more shards.
I'm just 6 shards short of making 32 with the titan now although I do need an exotic shard from Xur to max the Helm of Saint 14 to achieve it.
Finally, tried to do the gorgon CP that Stimps claimed he had
only to find he didn't. Lovechild if you still have yours and I see you on later, would you mind?

Thanks to lovechild for sticking around last night for me to grab the CP which I'd like to report yielded a Gjallahorn! But sadly I can't because I got some energies and shards instead 
Ah well, the reset is a comin' and a new round of opportunities to gain the now infamous GHorn (I'd settle for Hunger of Crota but that hasn't appeared either)
Oh and it seems that I didn't lose my Crota boss CP on the titan after all. I joined someone else's fireteam at the start of Crota's End and assumed therefore I'd lose the CP but Destiny is smarter than that apparently as when I jumped in this morning to grab the first chest before the reset, I was given the opportunity to resume.

Yep, pretty happy with those couple of items - Oversoul Edict gives arc damage so that's my first arc damage primary which will be handy in the Nightfalls / weeklies at some stage. Not so sure on the Abyss Defiant - solar damage, burns through ammo and has very low impact. Probably one to level up and see how it fares.
