I was very tempted by a hard VoG last night but, an early start today kept me sensible instead. I have been dipping my toe back in Destiny waters this week, I think the break on Battlefield did me good and refreshed my waning interest slightly. I've even been running bounties to upgrade Gjallahorn number 3 and another NITC scout with armour piercing rounds (which will good for cheesing some Nightfall/weekly strike bosses).
Borderlands arrives today so, I can see that taking up most of my time for a bit but, will probably fancy a raid at some point over the weekend (preferably VoG but, happy to do either)

Still got one NF to do today or over this weekend, but also up for a raid at some point if people are willing (REALLY want / need that Hunger of Crota now)
Xur is selling The Last Word today - is it worth picking up? (I don't have any form of decent hand cannon, just The Devil You Know, twice but with uninspiring rolls)

NM is fun, but not challenging. I think those of us who were less experienced in the raid, or not a high enough level are now more than capable of HM. Time is the only real factor. If we start early enough, I never see a reason not to do hard.
Time is a big factor though. NM is always a laugh, never a stress and can usually be done in 30 minutes or so (and I still think it remains a challenge for those with less experience). HM is a total ballache once you get to Crota. It simply takes too many attempts and too much time to get it done and is just an unnecessary time suck for those of us who don't need anything from the drops.I'm all for a challenge but HM Crota just isn't fun.

I like The Last Word but, it can be a bit of a marmite gun. If you have coins to spare, I would say definitely get it. I'm also a big fan of TDYK - it was my go-to primary for a long time before I got FateBringer.Speckle said:

I don't disagree with any of that. I'm all for a challenge but HM Crota just isn't fun.
NM is so easy, to the extent that it's pretty much a foregone conclusion, which to me takes the challenge aspect out of it and just leaves it being a laugh (which is no bad thing!!). The problem with HM is the glitches. It's a tough encounter anyway, made frustrating by the game's inconsistencies. Glitches are a lot easier to overcome in normal than in hard.
Agree on TLW. Fun, but not essential. Good PvP gun though.
TLW is probably the best short ranged gun in the game - its rate of fire is second to none and you don't even need to aim it.
That makes it a great PvP weapon on the smallest maps.
It suffers with accuracy at medium to long range though, so not that great for PvE or the larger maps on PvP.

Why do so many people avoid the Crucible? It takes a bit of time to learn the maps and get used to it, but once you do it's quite fun.
In a game that has so much repeated play, it adds a bit of variety, not to mention allowing you to access excellent additional gear through the Iron Banner tournament and 5 additional bounties per day for XP and rep. There is even a map on Mercury.
I'd say persevere with a few games of Control for a couple of hours. Once you learn the maps and tactics I think you'll enjoy it.
Top tip: if you crouch, you disappear from the enemy's radar.

Because I don't enjoy it.....at all.In a game that has so much repeated play, it adds a bit of variety, not to mention allowing you to access excellent additional gear through the Iron Banner tournament and 5 additional bounties per day for XP and rep.

I gave it about 8 hours in total I think, still hated it.
Wouldn't life be dull if we all liked the same things

How does Control work though since I thought it was a team of 3 vs another team of 3 - do you get matchmade or something?I will venture in there like I said if nothing else for the exotic bounties, but I think I've played one rumble match in there since the game launched. I guess there was more to do PvE at the time, but as that's dried up more or less that provides a bit of incentive to try something new.

I'm wary of the fact that if I play too much crucible, everyone will complain to Bungie that I'm OP and they might try and nerf me.
Blimey - if they nerf you anymore, your health will deplete every time you fire a shot... Moog, Control is where each team must try to take control of 3 points on the map (or 2 of them at least) - it is 6 vs 6 if I remember correctly.
Just did the Sword of Crota mission for the bounty and found out something new (to me). When wielding the sword to kill the boss knights, the sword has a super associated with it. I was trying to use my blinding bubble whist holding the sword and instead unleashed a arc smash or something that took out most of the final knight's health. Couple of extra whacks and he's dead!
Well I never The super recharges quick too, a bit like the relic in VoG

0-1 Zone - No multiplier - 100 pts per kill
2 Zones - 100% multiplier - 200 pts per kill
3 Zones - 200% multiplier - 300 pts per kill
All xp (assists, flag captures and kills) count towards the team score. First team to 20,000 (or highest after the time runs out) wins.
Despite it being called Control, you can theoretically win the game without controlling a single zone, but it's usually best to only control 2 zones as you know where the enemy will spawn (at the one zone they control) and you're not too spread out trying to control too many zones.

Like Ghostbusters where you absolutely cannot cross the streams, in Control, you absolutely cannot flip the spawns (apparently).
