Control is 6 v 6, matchmade and works like a variant of team deathmatch. You get a multiplier to each kill's XP for each zone you control:

0-1 Zone - No multiplier - 100 pts per kill
2 Zones - 100% multiplier - 200 pts per kill
3 Zones - 200% multiplier - 300 pts per kill

All xp (assists, flag captures and kills) count towards the team score. First team to 20,000 (or highest after the time runs out) wins.

Despite it being called Control, you can theoretically win the game without controlling a single zone, but it's usually best to only control 2 zones as you know where the enemy will spawn (at the one zone they control) and you're not too spread out trying to control too many zones.
Thanks Youngsyr for the explanation, I think this weekend might be the time to dive in and give it a go! If nothing else, those exotic bounties have taken up valuable space for too long now (easily 2+ months smile )

The Crucible parts of those bounties can seem daunting, but I suck at PvP and they really don't take that long. Invective? Three games. Bad Juju? Between three to six, dependant on number of Warlocks in opposing team. Thorn? Depends on your load out. First time around, I only had a void shotgun, it took around fifteen games. Second time was quicker, ten or eleven I'd say, using void fusion rifle and Corrective Measure.

Cheers, useful info. I've already binned off Invective though but I'm sure it will appear again in due course. I'll have a crack at the Crucible this weekend and see how I get on. I used to play PvP all the time in earlier PC games (albeit with friends via a local LAN hook up way before internet gaming existed) and didn't fare too badly

If you need a meat shield to take bullets for you and weaken targets for you, I'll happily assist you and if you still don't get on with it, we can have a crack at the Nightfall (I've still got to run it with my titan), or the weekly heroics (which I haven't touched this week)!

No worries. smile

I should also mention that should expect to get killed a lot. There are so many one shot kill methods in the Crucible that even the best players struggle to get a KDR greater than 2.0, so that means even if you have a good game and get 25 kills, you're still going to die 12 times.

Also, check the opposition out on the roster screen - if you see 3 or more people playing on a team against you when you're on your own, then leave the game and join a new one. Teamwork makes a huge difference in the Crucible and you'll be fighting an uphill battle if the opposition are talking to each other.

Cheers and even better if could we lure a third in there to play as a 3 man team (as per youngsyr's post), but equally happy to do the NF as I've got one to do with the hunter and if you have an arc weapon loadout, it's actually easier or I should say quicker than the weeklies. I should be on later today, things to do this morning.

I'll be on later today and need to do some Nightfalls and some raiding. If you see me on and want to join in then that would be lovely.

Happy to do a Crucible fireteam too if you want as I'm a couple of bounties away from a level up.

Just did my third and final Nightfall of the week. My reward? Seven ascendant energies. Rubbish. I then jumped into a level 30 Weekly Heroic, and was paired with a level 28 and a level 27. As they were doing barely any damage and were dying a lot, it took over an hour. Had I known it would be that bad, I'd have quite and gone back into matchmaking with a higher level fireteam!

I always check their weapons. If they're either a) Unsuitable or b) Unmaxed, I leave. Obviously if they're a couple of damage points down on 1 or 2 then that's ok, but you can tell more from their load out than their level.

Weapons weren't bad, but they simply weren't able to overcome the penalties of being two or three levels below the enemies. By the end, I'd amassed 203 kills compared to their 68 and 79 respectively. Up until Sepiks it was manageable, though we really struggled once we reached him; a lot of the mobs were majors, who they couldn't really hurt much, and I was having to spend far too much time taking down Fallen and not focussing on Sepiks.

We got it done, but it was frustrating and needlessly time-consuming.

A good few hours raiding Gents, thank you to all who had to put up with the hardship of carrying a 27 Titan through the Abyss, it was much appreciated. Managed to bag myself a Hunger of Crota from... well, Crota (Sorry, Lovechild!) though I don't know if I'll use it. My current Radegasts Fury is a solar launcher with tracking, so I don't see HoC offering much extra. Also bagged Found Verdict from VoG. It's no Fatebringer, but I won't moan about getting weapons I didn't already have!

Yep, lot's of fun as always although that Templar can get a bit frustrating can't it! Got there in the end and someone scored Fatebringer however I think he said it was his third smile

I can't complain though. Swordbreaker and Patience & Time from Crota and Pretorian Foil and Praedyths Revenge from VoG, none of which I had before so thumbup

Stimps, I should be around tomorrow if you still need a NF assistant. I've still to do it with my hunter.

I think, gents, I need to be asking a question here.

As mentioned above, I finally bagged Hunger of Crota earlier, completing my collection of normal mode special and heavy weapons from the Crota's End raid (still have plenty to get from VoG!). As a completionist, I'm very happy to have it, but on reflection I'm unsure if I'll actually ever use it. My Radegast's Fury (Iron Banner rocket launcher) is solar, has tracking and has clown cartridge so sometimes when you reload you get three rockets rather than two. This is especially great if it procs when you only have one rocket in reserve, which happens with some frequency. However, in terms of elemental launchers, solar are more than catered for; Dragon's Breath, Gjallarhorn, Hunger, Hezens.

So, I can leave well alone, consign Hunger to a collectors piece and carry on using Radegast's Fury whilst I wait patiently for my Gjallarhorn to finally drop, or I can level up Hunger and re-roll Radegast's when Iron Banner comes around again, hoping for the same perks with a different element (preferably arc). This though will essentially mean all materials used on Radegast's so far were wasted, and I'll need to spend two sets of materials to fully upgrade Hunger and the newly rolled Radegast's.

tldr; is Hunger worth upgrading if I already have a 331 attack solar rocket launcher with tracking?

I am a big fan of the Hunger, had been my go to rocket launcher for a long time. In my opinion if you have the spare energies it is worth upgrading.

Moog, getting Praetorian Foil is a great drop, its the only weapon from the VOG that still eludes me!!!

Lovechild seemed quite put out when two of us scored it biggrin I need to look at the perks more closely, but I wonder why it's called Praetorian Foil since it's solar damage and not void as I'd expect. It's also slow to charge but has great impact but being a VoG weapon, it must have something up it's sleeve! A keeper for sure

It has mega-impact, and with accelerated coils the recharge times is reduced considerably. I've seen it melt oracles as well, so it has some utility against Atheon. Mainly it's wanted because it seems to be rare as rocking-horse-****.

I've been away for two weeks and getting home Monday. I have serious Destiny withdrawl symptoms. Anybody want to join me for the Xyor part of the Thorn bounty and sherpa me through my first Raid next week? I joined the Pistonheads group on Bungie but doesn't seem to be a lot of action on there. I am a level 30 Warlock on PS4 with Gjallarhorn, have a mic too. GT rubinho_racer; add me biggrin

Think hunger has bonus damage against hive enemies as one of its upgrades

That's mainly my fault trying the blocking method. It's only the 2nd attempt, but I think I blocked him a couple of times for a minute or so each, so getting the hang of it. It's trickier, but faster than the standard method, just need to get to grips with it a bit better. The main problem is that it get exponentially tougher as time goes by, as none of the minions are dying so it gets busier and busier. I think keeping 1 man on ground clearance duty is probably best and a 90 second window should suffice as long as everyone hits him as hard as they can.

I think we had 3/4 exotics from Ir Yut and Crota, and a FB and 2 foils from Oracles/Templar. Did Jase get the FB? I think he got 2 of the Crota exotics.

Same here. I also only need Hunger from CE (I'm not sure if I've mentioned that beforebiggrin)

I don't need either. I'd never use Foil nowadays and I've got 3 tracking rocket launchers, so more about completing the set. Although if it was a struggle to give us the extra vault space this time round, it doesn't bode well for being able to keep guns for sentimental reasons for the future.

I'll be on about 12-4 tomorrow. I'd like to have another go at Templar/Atheon and finish that HM Crota CP.

It does, but Radegast's Fury has considerably higher impact as a base stat so the actual damage output against Hive majors is still pretty much equal.
