Rocked up as the last shot was fired, got an exotic. That's how I roll.
That's my 5th Truth. Funnily enough I got a heavy purple engram during the NF that decrypted into another one. I need Thunderlord, 4th HM and Necrochasm for exotics and Pret Foil and Hunger for the raids.
As I rounded the corner to where Omnigul first appears, I thought I'm gonna launch this trip mine right at her her head..........Bullseye!!! Like when you play snooker......."yeah, I was going for that"..........Course you were.
Iron Banner started late (about now I reckon), so I'll be on tomorrow and Thursday. Singh, how about 'working' from home on Thursday and see if we can get a little team together.

If you don't mind a total Crucible noob hindering your progress, I'd quite like to join in if there is a team effort going on (no idea how Iron Banner works mind). I'm on hols this week and can be around if something is happening. Could do with doing at least one NF too.
Borderlands is great fun and really quite addictive as a single player experience (interesting considering I've done most of it before on PC) but I'm missing the social Destiny aspect a bit.
Be interested to see the Trials of Osiris reveal that's happening now once it's up for replay too.

Iron Banner is one of two game modes (the other being exotic bounties) where RNG doesn't dictate the rewards. It's Crucible where defence/attack/level stats count, and set weapons/armour are available to buy upon reaching certain levels. There are still random rewards as per usual though. I'm sure someone (Youngsy) will quantify it for you, but, the better you do, the quicker you rank up (there are various buffs/multipliers etc). I think it takes about 10-12 hours of play throughout the week to reach rank 5.
I've not done a recent one, but the couple of the earlier ones tended to bring out the noobs. They attracted people who wouldn't normally PvP because the VoG is stingy and you could get level 30 armour. I think it is a lot more competitive now though. However, I do think that this one will be popular due to being able to upgrade armour/weapons to the new max level, helmet being sold and people generally being bored with the game.
Play a couple of Crucible/IB games and see how you get on. It's a bit of a catch 22. You don't start enjoying it until you get good(acceptable), but you don't get good(acceptable) without putting the time in, so it can be frustrating to start with. I've not played loads, but it took me a while to get out of the CoD style of play, find a load out that worked for me and I'm now averaging a respectable k/d and dragging it up into the positive (letting the kids play on my characters didn't help).
Have you done any Crucibling Moog? As it may be a bit of a baptism of fire if not.
ETA: Looks like Efrideet's Spear and Timur's lash as buyable weapons, and Jolder's Hammer and Silimar's Wrath as random drops. Armour is helmet and chest. Happy with that (altough not bothered about the auto rifle).

That's a good summary Lovechild, the key point is that armour and weapon levels now matter, i.e. a level 32 has a (very slight) advantage over a level 32, so equip your best armour and most powerful weapons.
Each win and bounty completed gets you Iron Banner Faction rep just like Vanguard or Crucible Rep. You can buy the chest armour and sniper rifle (one of the best in the game) at level 3, the helmet at level 4 and the hand cannon (again very good) at level 5.
On top of that, once you're level 3, you open up the chance of a random drop of Iron Banner weapons every time you win an Iron Banner game.
The best part about the Iron Banner weapons is that they have great stats and you can re-roll the perks using motes of light, so you can end up with bespoke, very powerful weapons.

Thanks for that very detailed overview, makes much more sense now but based on that I'm not sure it's for me as no, aside for one Rumble match played when the game was a week old, I've not been back in there since. I keep meaning to do regular Crucible for the exotic bounty work as I've said before but everytime I boot up the game, I find an excuse to do something else
I'll stick to falling down holes whilst walking backwards in the Abyss I reckon

I'm already "working from home" on Friday, dude! I can catch you then if you're about otherwise I am away until Sunday. I'll be hammering away at this until then.We had a good few games last night. A fireteam of myself, Youngsy, Jase and Kaney. I think we only lost 1 game and that was when we were a man down against a team of 6. We rocked! Still, because I haven't played any IB before (so didn't have the emblem, shader, cloak etc which are score modifiers), ranking is painfully slow. I'm nudging rank 2 and that is after about 3 hours play.
Moog, I'd seriously recommend jumping in sooner rather than later IF you want the kit. Otherwise, based on yesterday, the Crucible is far more forgiving. It may be because it was reset day (so the hardcore were PvPing rather than NFing) but the players were good yesterday. It was a maxed Thorn/Vex/Invective fest. Hopefully the noobs will return as the week goes on.
I really don't think Iron banner is any more important now than it was before. It is simply an alternative route to reach max level (as will be the case with the trials of wotsit). As far as I'm concerned, if something (weapons/armour) isn't available in PvE, then I'm not bothered enough to endure the hell that is PvP for it. The many thorn bounties that have gathered dust from the point of the pvp element are testament to that
Lovechild is right - you won't enjoy it until you reach a certain level and I never stuck with it long enough to get there so, never enjoyed it.
Started as Gunzerker but, didn't get on well with that class so, gave up at level 23 and started again with a Commando (much more fun with the gun turret ) and am up to level 17 atm so, if you're anywhere around that level, feel free to jump in (my network settings are always open to friends list)

I can help you there Moog - quite a few of us Destiny refugees have been playing Borderlands together lately. I've played in a fireteam more than I've played on my own since getting the game.Started as Gunzerker but, didn't get on well with that class so, gave up at level 23 and started again with a Commando (much more fun with the gun turret ) and am up to level 17 atm so, if you're anywhere around that level, feel free to jump in (my network settings are always open to friends list)

That fits quite well as I'm a lvl 16 or 17 Mechromancer at the moment (can't quite remember which) and would be complimentary in that regard. I'm at the point of just about to turn in the "A train to catch" mission, but just doing some side missions before I do that. If I see you on, I'll jump in if there is a space as I'd like to see how the co-op aspect worksStarted as Gunzerker but, didn't get on well with that class so, gave up at level 23 and started again with a Commando (much more fun with the gun turret ) and am up to level 17 atm so, if you're anywhere around that level, feel free to jump in (my network settings are always open to friends list)
Commando was my primary character when played previously and it's a good one, that turret gets awfully powerful at higher levels. This time around I started a Psycho character, but didn't like that and gave up at lvl 6 - too melee orientated which isn't my style at all.
No, I don't want the IB gear, just wondered if it was something to do but I don't have that sort of time to throw at it to make it worthwhile

I'm only one mission ahead of you I think (just got back to sanctuary after it went airborne) so, all our side/story missions will be at a similar level. Hopefully there will be a couple of others about later too.Oh, and back on the thread topic, I may or may not get dragged into a Nightfall at some point depending on who is about
