Just been checking out the upgrade path once HoW lands, seems like they've swung completely the other way from TDB and made it too easy to upgrade your gear?
Any exotic item can be upgraded to the new level, without losing any progress, with just glimmer, weapon/armour parts and 1 exotic shard.
So, day 1, if you've stockpiled glimmer and exotic shards, all of your exotic weapons and armour can be maxed out.
To upgrade any legendary item, you need glimmer, materials (helium coils, spirit bloom, etc) and 1 Etheric Light.
Etheric Light is dropped in the Nightfall, Prison of Eldars and Trial of Osiris.
So, with multiple opportunities each week to drop Etheric light, you could quite easily have one or more characters at the new level cap in the first week, potentially even in the first day?

Just seems like there's not much effort involved in levelling up your gear. Don't get me wrong, last time there was far too much effort involved, but they seemed to have swung completely the opposite way.
I don't understand why they don't just add a few more bubbles on to the end of unlock tree for existing gear for you to work towards and put the Etheric light requirement on the last one. That way you can't upgrade it on day 1, you don't lose any progress to date and you still get to take it to the new level.

I got the CP for the weekly FB runs, and the Gorgon chest if anyone wants it.
ETA: good runs today. 3xNF, 1XCrota nm and 1XVoG hm. Crota first sword (I wanted to redeem myself after yesterday, and Templar first try in less than a minute).

Always up for a chance at FB / Gjally especially as you seem to have nailed the Templar blocking method 
Thanks for the assist with the NF this afternoon, wasn't going to bother but saw that Stimps was trying it solo and dived in. Got the Titan helmet "The Glasshouse" and then a One Way Ticket launcher when we ran it again. Good news is that it's my first non exotic launcher, the bad is that it doesn't have tracking
Does have cluster bombs though, but they aren't a substitute for wolfpack rounds of course

It was a bit slower on the 2nd run, but Mars joined at the end only to be rewarded with 11 strange coins (which to be fair was more than his kills

It makes very little difference to the weapon whether you upgrade it or not but, no - you cannot say you have a nechrocasm yet so, get grinding 
I actually logged into Destiny today, just to run some bounties and get my eye in again (feels very weird after Borderlands!) Felt weird but good, like putting on a comfy pair of favourite slippers...
