The new loot spot was a bit hit and miss this morning. A few times the spawning stopped, so assumed the drop ship had returned. Headed outside but, no drop ship or enemies to be seen. I wonder if they've altered the spawning frequency to be more sporadic? Seemed fine last night (I even got a purple engram, sadly it was ascendant energy!)
I'll give it a try sometime today if there is no-one else around that is, see if it has changed based on previous experience. Sometimes there is a Dreg from the dropship mob that hides around the back of the trucks in that area so it looks like there are no enemies when it fact one is lurking out of sight (and you can't snipe him)

What are these purple engrams you talk of? In over 35 hrs of gameplay and two level 20+ characters I've still to actually see one frown I'd be a bit miffed just to receive some ascendant energy for one though! Bugs me when the Cryptarch gives me a Mote of Light for a rare engram

I have 1 Legendary weapon, a scout rifle. But as i remember someone posting a while ago, they seem underpowered. Life is a lot easier with my assault rifle.
The recent patch was supposed to re-balance things. Scout rifles got a damage buff and auto rifles got nerfed slightly.

By accident I received a rare scout rifle from the Post Master (must have missed it in the mission I had just done or something) and it's amazing - tons of upgrade slots and it almost acts like a sniper rifle. You can pick things off from a good distance away. Haven't really looked at scout rifles until now having stuck with autos or hand cannons previously, but I'm staying with this one for a while (even has explosive rounds further up the upgrade tree, cool!)

To combine two of the topics discussed above, i was attempting to farm the loot spot last night, using my scout rifle in the process. Didn't have much success with the farming. I got a couple of engrams right at the start (1 blue, 1 green) but then no more. I think i was doing it right, but maybe not...

The scout rifle is fine when you've got some time and space to go for all headshots, where the damage is high. But if my back was to the wall during a strike/raid the damage output isn't fast enough, especially when enemies are too close/numerous/fast to target the sensitive bits. Good point on the upgrade slots through, i haven't looked at those so they'll give it some added stank no doubt.

For comparison to your earlier post, I've racked up 37 hours of gameplay and got 3 purples. Definitely sounds like you've been a bit hard done by.

Getting a bit addicted to Skirmish in the Crucible. I'm not normally one for the smaller tactical game modes, but here it seems to slow things down a bit and make it less of a frantic. Easier to build decent streaks too if you work together as a tight unit.

I quite like using it with a shotgun secondary and then a heavy MG to switch to

My favourite loadout is a maxed out legendary scout rifle (with constant radar and bonus accuracy when crouched), a legendary solar sniper rifle with increased reload speed and precision shots causing explosions and a legendary HMG (either arc or void depending on mission).

This seems to cover most eventualities in PVE, you can take out enemies at with the scout/sniper and then defeat swarms/break shields with the HMG.

I am working on an exotic bounty for the Bad Ju Ju pulse rifle though, so my set up may switch.

For me though the most important thing is to take ammo packs - I always have at least two of each equipped as a weapon with no ammo is less use than a pointy stick.

Sent out some friend requests a couple of days ago, thanks for the replies!

Hopefully will be on for some raids over the weekend. Would like to try VOG if anyone is up for it, although I'm only level 26.

Apologies to NocturnalJon - I saw your invite this morning but, my PS+ subscription expired yesterday adn I haven't had chance to renew it!!

After some of yesterday's posts, I've been using my scout rifle more and, I have to say I quite like it!! Rubbish for close quarters and, I still feel happier with an auto rifle but, enjoyed using it much more than I thought I would.

Managed to find another purple engram this morning, ironically when I was clearing out the drop ship guys and this time thankfully it was some armour smile I'm pretty bored with the whole loot farming thing though (probably invested 2hrs total) so going to get back to actually playing the game!

I need one more strange coin and I'll be able to get some exotic armour from Xur. Never dealt with him before but, I've heard there is a risk I might get something that my character (Hunter) can't use - is there any way I can make sure this doesn't happen?

I currently have 22 motes of light and 16 strange coins. Is this enough to buy anything decent from Xur this weekend? What time does he usually make an appearance?

Up for some VoG and\or weekly strike this weekend too if anyone is on. I am only a lowly level 26 but I am a pretty decent player if I say so myself smile

I'm not too far off being able to buy a legendary helmet which should help me jump up to level 27 but what's next? I've heard tell of exotic armour, how does one go about tracking down these mythical items?

Go to Xur and buy some!

You've got enough coins to buy an exotic helmet today.

Xur sells exotic armour (one piece per class per week) and an exotic weapon for strange coins, so no randomness there - you see what you get before you buy.

The random element comes in with the exotic engram he sells - it costs 23 motes of light and guarantees you an exotic item, but it can be for any class, so you've only got 1/3 chances of it being for your class (assuming you've only got one guardian).

Obviously if you have a guardian in each class, then there's no drama. hehe

Hmmmm, I'm 2 strange coins short of buying some exotic armour. Bugger. It seems the best way to get guaranteed coins is through the weekly heroic strikes, but IIRC there's no matchmaking on these and the one I tried solo was very tough. Teammates needed me thinks.

I was going to give the Scout Rifle a workout last night following yesterdays posts, but the PSN was down frown

I'd like to give VoG a go but i think at level 25, even though I'm reasonable at these things, I'd still take a pasting. Hence the exotic armour being so tantalizingly close that would take me up to level 26. I've got some decent chest armour and gauntlets so what I'd really like is a well polished helmet smile

I might be able to buy from Xur for the first time this weekend if I can scratch together two more strange coins (exotic armour has been 13 coins in the past IIRC).

As I understand it, you can BUY a strange coin for a fair chunk of glimmer from Xur once per weekend per character, is that right? Can't remember how much he sells them for, but in theory, since Glimmer is shared across characters, could you start a new character, get to the tower, buy a coin and stick it in the vault for your main character to reclaim? Delete the new guardian, wash rinse repeat. So essentially if you have enough glimmer you could buy as many Strange Coins as you need?

Wow, that's brilliant. Thanks for the heads up\link. Looks like I should have enough to buy an exotic armour piece plus one more mote of light and I can get an engram, I assume these are exotic too?

Level 27 here I come smile (should I be this happy about picking up a virtual doodad which will enable my virtual character to go up one more level?)

I'm up for doing a VoG run tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can get my Warlock to level 28 tonight so that I don't suffer too much of a damage penalty. I've still not had a run through yet though but I'm happy to follow someone else's lead. PSN is EECCTimH.

Brilliant, just got team killed by someone in the crucible. mad

Wondered why some idiot was continually trying to ram me with their jet bike whilst I was capturing points.

I really don't understand people like that - genuinely have nothing better to do than trying to annoy strangers on a computer game.
