I managed to get an Exotic helmet last night and only need one more piece of legendary armour before I start saving up for some legendary weapons
I picked up an engram which turned out to be a legendary cloak which is tied to the New Monarchy faction. I haven't equipped it yet as I'm only a few vanguard points away from some new armour. If I then switch to the New Monarchy cloak, what are the pros and cons? I realise that all my reputation then linked to them and I can ultimately buy their legendary kit - what is the downside? Should I bother or, should I stick to Vanguard (I only play PvE if that makes any difference)

I think the only change is the one you've mentioned - all your rep goes to the faction, rather than the crucible dealer.I picked up an engram which turned out to be a legendary cloak which is tied to the New Monarchy faction. I'd stick with the normal crucible rep as you'll get a "gift" every time you level up beyond level 3 (takes 3,000 rep points per level) which is likely to be a legendary item.
The same will eventually happen with the crucible rep, but you have to start from level 0 again.

Thanks to youngsyr & LeeFX for assisting in the weekly heroic strike so I could get some strange coins and finally move on from lvl24 where I have been stuck for the past 3 weeks!!!
Its about time I got some luck and had some legendary drops!
Possibly on later today so catch you then.....
PS, if anyone wants to add me my PSN is: ROB_GTR

I'll be kicking around for most of the afternoon and evening today, level 25 going on 26.
I'm up for anything, nightfall, strikes, whatevever. My PSN buddies don't play destiny so I have trouble getting people together to do nightfalls and I'm most stuck on grinding Tiger strikes.
PSNID: Bokka-Bokka
I'm don't normally talk on the mic, but I'm Scottish so it probably wouldn't make much difference anyway..

Sorry guys. Getting enough error codes to start a zoo. Best sub in someone else.
Same here. The game seems to be freezing fairly often, then shutting down.Up for some strikes as well. I'll send friend requests to WN and Gaz soon.

Sorry I bailed, had to go and farm some relic iron and thought you might be a bit bored going round in circles on Mars!! Good fun though, I'll be back on later (but, I'm going to the pub first so, don't expect to much from me!! ;-)

You were unfortunate enough to join him for the big purple eye boss, I then joined as my Warlock for the Vex temple and the one before.
I've now got him farming relic iron and helium for me

Any tips for when my game + console comes this week?
I have had a nosey round at guides etc and think im going to go Warlock Sunslinger to be a little different.
If you like being an all out killing machine, choose Hunter.I have had a nosey round at guides etc and think im going to go Warlock Sunslinger to be a little different.
If boxing clever is a bit more your style, choose Warlock.
If you like being able to soak up a lot of damage and dish out a lot of firepower, choose Titan.
One great tip is to save your best weapons at each level in the vault - this will help you massively when/if you start a second character, as you'll already have great weapons to speed you through the lower levels.

Thanks to Dunmow for going through the Level 26 weekly with me. I was level 25 at the time and he was level 27. So Dunmow was all like:
Whereas i was all like:
Up to about level 26.9 now. So close to 27 but much farming needs to be done to get there via upgrading my armour. I've got up to crucible level 2, so been able to buy myself some legendary trousers. Ian Poulter would be proud.
Also thanks to Dunmow, i realised i was being stoopid and not upping the difficulty on the daily strikes to match my own level. As a result i was missing out on a lot of rewards. Bugger
When i get round to setting up another character, i'll definitely be going for a warlock. Being able to revive yourself in PvE seems like a massive bonus. Although Blade dancer in PvP is great fun.

In the style of Worldvision/UNICEF/Oxfam, this is a plea for help. Cue sad sounding music...

Based on that I may just ditch this challenge. I don't even use hand cannons. Preferred load out is a scout rifle and fusion rifle. If I could just find a friggin void damage damage FR, I'd be okay as I'm fairly decent at p v p.
May get the missus to delete it....i totally ignored everything said and ploughed on with this bounty. Truth be told, I just couldn't admit defeat. I don't care if Thorn is crap, I have to have it. That being so, I have achieved the 500 point score in the crucible. Was fairly easy once I got to grips with a shotgun and tried free-for-all instead. I got from 143 points or so to 500 in 6 games.
What I am struggling with is the final leg of the bounty. A fresh strike has opened up on the Moon, as mentioned, and it is frikkin impossible solo. Tried it with a couple of mates and got through to Phogoth... then my connection totally died. Gutted doesn't cover it.
Truth be told, I'm not sure they knew what needs to be done, i.e. Phogorth has to be kept alive and the waves of enemy dealt with until the target (another wizard) arrives towards the lower platform... and him killed as well.
So [reverse psychology mode on] are you tough enough?! If so, please please do jump in if you see me online. This thing is consuming me and so it is the only thing I'll be doing until it is done... or I get REALLY bored.

Firstly, Thorn is rubbish. I did the bounty and used it for 20 minutes or so, but it's just a pig of a gun and not worth the effort. They are going to improve it apparently, but I've no idea when this will be.
Secondly, get good with using Fusion rifles would be my tip. I did the 500 points in around an hour by using a void fusion rifle, but it will boil down to how good at PvP you are.
Finally, there is a final stage where it opens up a special strike on the moon, similar to the regular strike, except there are loads of powerful, shielded enemies around. This is really tough and one of the hardest things I've done in the game so far (if you look above you'll see I've now done the raid and would still rate that strike as being the bigger pain in the arse). One section involves you trying to kill 4 wizards with solar shields whilst they absolutely pound the three of you with blast damage. We lucked through that section a couple of times, then you have to do the Phogoth fight without killing him and fend off three waves of enemies, including really tough Arc-shielded knights and more wizards before your target arrives, who you then have to kill. It's do-able of course and there is a way of surviving by hiding in a room and luring enemies at you, but it's not something I'd relish doing again in a hurry. Especially since the reward is so crap as it stands.
If you're going to attempt the strike, make sure you've got players on your fireteam with a decent Arc Fusion rifle and a Solar Fusion rifle too, plus arc and solar grenades/supers will help.
Thanks for that, Steve, appreciated. And congrats on beating VoG! Secondly, get good with using Fusion rifles would be my tip. I did the 500 points in around an hour by using a void fusion rifle, but it will boil down to how good at PvP you are.

There's also a way to "cheese" the strike, one of your fireteam stays in the room just before the big hall with the boss and just sits there acting as a spawn point (respawning is allowed) whilst the other members go in and kill as many minions as they can before they get killed, then rinse and repeat.
I suspect solar sniper rifles will be useful against the shielded wizards and an arc HMG against the shielded captains. I have both.
