So. Kaney finally got round to posting that vid of his double headshot from the single ES sniper bullet during our ToO flawless run last week. It is on the Icebreakerss forum. This was, again, during Mars' run;-

http://youtu.be/H74xI4GTlxY

I had lots to do obviously hehe

When does the next IB kick off!? I need me an ES with final round wink

That lad is a monster. I'll catch you later. smile

Impressive indeed! I struggle to hit anyone with anything in Crucible let alone pulling off a double headshot with a sniper rifle hehe

Thorn bounty is suffering badly at the moment. I personally hate that "The Cauldron" map, it's costing me a lot of points every time we get dropped on it frown

Jump into the next IB team fella (whenever that is)- you'll get enough points to finish that bounty in one sitting. The usuals- Youngs, Carbon et al are great Crucible players. smile

That wasn't even a headshot! He didn't get the headshot bonus points on either kill!! If you watch it in slow motion, he actually knee caps them! Absolutely brutal weapon! biggrin

Given the recent changes to Crucible, Efrideets isn't the powerhouse it was. You can no longer fire your first shots willy nilly, hoping for that one perfect Final-Round empowered kill. That side, mine rolled with Double Down, which grants more ammo on spawn. I wasn't terribly excited by this when it first rolled all those months ago, but now I'm bloody glad I kept it!

Also, Xur is selling Patience & Time, which is the last exotic I needed from the vanilla game.

True, but as the vid shows, any hit with final round will be decisive. I suppose it depends on how confident one is with the sniper rifle.

As a half-way house, I've ascended my Pradeyth's Revenge which is perhaps the best PvP sniper. It hits nowhere near as hard as an ES though.

I have to say that during ToO, if I did hear 2 rounds being fired at the outset of a round (from the opposition meaning they were purposely aiming to use their "final round") then it changed my play style. I was a lot more cautious of moving into sniper areas.

It is still "overpowered" which is demonstrated by the Skolas vids... P+T does around 7.8k damage whereas arc ES does around 9k.

Huge want. smile

This is a genuine question, but how would that work since points are awarded for void kills by me alone and not the team aren't they? If the entire fireteam can score kills and count towards the bounty, who wants in at the weekend to help me out? biggrin

Almost did something daft this morning, but it shows how if you focus on one thing you miss another. Picked up another Glasshouse titan helmet from the NF I ran last night with s99ane and zombie. It had a poor intellect roll compared to my existing one so very nearly sharded it but right at the last minute noticed that this was the new light level 42 helmet whereas the old one was of course 36! Rodney, you plonker ...

Shard the 42 helmet and use the shard to ascend your old 36 one to 42.

That way you end up with a 42 helmet with three perks unlocked.;)

I like your thinking but I was still in the process of upgrading the old one as it was the last exotic helmet I got, so it wasn't yet at 36 light. Or does ascending skip having to max an item first? I'd probably ascend my Helm of Saint 14 first as that is currently maxed if that is a requirement

I'm sorry to have to say it but....Skolas survived our best efforts once again last night! banghead

Myself, Kaney and Singh111s tried a few different strategies.

1) We tried 2 x maxed 4th Horsemans to his face while Singh sniped. Suffice to say, this didn't work well at all! Don't trust anything you see on youtube entitled 'EASY METHOD' - it's all lies!!

2) We tried the standard Weapons of light bubble and snipers. This was usually quite succesful in terms of damage and we had him down to 10% health on numerous occasions but, the adds overwhelmed us repeatedly. I definitely think this is the best bet but, a healthy dose of luck is needed. You can only really afford to miss a couple of critical hits and his teleporting is sporadic to say the least. A couple of times, we would pop the bubble and turn to find him right on top of us!

3) We tried getting his health to just over 50% (to delay the mines spawing) and then moving to the other side of the map and clearing adds while passing the sickness between us before heading back over left for another crack at him. But, the adds re-spawned too fast for this to work.

4) We tried to clear the mines legitimately while passing the sickness but, just couldn't co-ordinate ourselves. If someone dies who isn't immune, it's pretty much a wipe. So frustrating.

4) Singh and I tried to arc-blade him to death - I don't recommend this method... hehe

We tried P&T with various arc heavy weapons, we tried maxed LDRs with Thunderlord (LDR was very good for this) but, after a few hours, we had to call it a night as frustration was starting to kick in. Weirdly, each time we did an ammo run betweeen attempts, we had no problems surviving the arc burning adds for long periods but, not when it mattered sadly!

I'm taking a break from Destiny today, Skolas has completely robbed me of my motivation!! I will no doubt dive in again over the weekend to have my @rse handed to me once more...thumbup

Younsyr, Lovechild - have you guys had a crack at him yet?

Not this week - beat him twice last week and it was very much like you said - a lot of luck involved.

Must have tried for about an hour each time last week and when you finally get it, you do wonder why it took so long, because it seems so straight forward, but everything has to fall right for you. You obviously have to each play your part perfectly, but then Skolas has to play his too, by not teleporting, hiding or getting too close.

Have very little motivation to even try it this week. frown

Am well up for a Trials of Osiris run if people are around though - I want the boots for my Hunter and Titan. cool

This week felt so much harder than last week. An arc Gjallahorn might do the trick tongue out

I'd stick to the trials if I were you, I think you'll have more fun in there smile

My thoughts exactly - I've heard many stories of people grinding Skolas for up to 9 hours and then giving up. banghead

I'd much rather be playing in ToO and hopefully getting loot drops even if we lose. smile

That's right, but when playing with a team in party chat, you'll be able to nestle within the group and pick up assists... which count as kills (5 points) whereas deaths are minus 2 as you'll probably know.

Safety in numbers. yes

Wash your mouth out Specs. We nearly had him with arc-blade++

++complete fabrication hehe

I just need the Shader and the Sol sniper rifle for the full ToO weapons (or rather, one of each kind). I'll be on for this later but wouldn't mind a bash at Skolas again. It will be eminently possible with 2 Titans... when 1 bubble drops, the other should be popped and he will be down in seconds. That is all we really needed last night, a few more seconds and some protection from adds.

Also: ES > LDR > P+T in terms of damage. yes

Trouble with that is, neither of us has a Titan so we cannot test the theory out with the same fireteam (and I think we deserve to complete it together after last night!) Mind you, I'm not sure I can manage another 3 - 4 hr session tonight!!

LDR was the better sniper by far. Around 1200 more damage per critical hit, a nicer scope for the sniping distance and a decent reload speed to make up for the smaller mag.

I did a run yesterday on my Warlock (went 8-1) and seemed to really luck out on the random drops. My teammates dropped the ship, the emblem, class item and a few armour pieces. I only dropped the boots once and that was it. frown

Last week I dropped the chest, arms and class item for my titan in a similar run.

Re Skolas, I have a titan with Arc ES with field scout and final round, so would be happy to give it a shot with a dedicated team.

If this is true, looks like Destiny could be over once the next Iron Banner lands. Hopefully it will only allow you to buy 1 Etheric light at rank 3 and 1 more at rank 5, not unlimited...

I highly doubt it's more than 1, otherwise why would you unlock it at Rank 3 and Rank 5?
