Did Iron Banner on all three characters today, got all and rank three, so bought three more etheric light though I'm not sure where to spend them. Weapon wise, I've ascended Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, Found Verdict and Praedyth's Revenge. What next? Do I stick with the elemental primaries and opt for Word of Crota, Oversoul Edict, Abyss Defiant or Fang of Ir Yut, or do I start ascending some more of my heavy weapons? Jolders, Corrective Measure, BTRD etc?

Seeing as you play IB, I would be temped to upgrade an HMG to help with the HMG streak bounty - whichever one you're currently happy with.

For some PoE levels and Atheon runs, Black Hammer is very useful.

Found Verdict is also quite useful in PoE.

Got to IB rank 3 and first thing I did with the etheric light was ascend Corrective Measure. Epic HMG.

Found Verdict I've already done, that thing is a monster. smile

HMG-wise, I'll likely opt for one of my Jolders Hammers. They're took a lot of rolls to get them right, might as well treat them to some etheric light. Hey, that rhymes!

Didn't get on nearly as much I wanted over the weekend and as such missed out on a lot of PoE action no doubt. I think my Titan is destined to sit at 33.5 for ever (or at least until TTK appears and it will all be irrelevant in any case)

As such, in the couple of hours I grabbed on Sunday afternoon I thought I should catch up on things, clear some stuff that has been sat on my character for some time, like for instance doing the Omingul strike and that other Eris bounty where you have to do multiple stages that I had started but was stuck at the Urzok stage

Two birds with one stone and all that, I'll run one of the weekly heroics which will get me the SCs and clear that mission. Level 32 fired up and away we go. Painful / horrible / tedious / annoying goes some way towards describing the ensuing experience as I ran that strike with a total of 4 randoms in the end with a couple dropping out at key moments leaving two of us to fend off the horde at times.

It didn't help that two of them were clearly lemmings and that the platform that Omnigul floats over was their cliff. Just WTF were you thinking when her shield is up and health is all but full that you go and equip your shotgun, jump up there and start blasting away? Lo and behold, you're dead in about 2 seconds leaving me as "Last Guardian Standing" waiting for my super to charge in order to get up there, pop a bubble and save your sorry ass.

One guy, who I'd started the level with, did it again and whilst I had every intention to get up there and revive, quit the level as it was taking a while to get up there to do it (he was right under Omnigul). That left two of us to finish it off which we did in the end thankfully. Some jammy so and so joined the game just as Omnigul fell so that was the easiest strike completion in history for him, but hey, that's the luck of matchmaking.

So some 50 mins later rolleyes, I'm happy to have my 9 SCs and blue engrams and being able to tick off that mission. Except no, that completion did not count or register meaning I still have to do it as a "proper" story strike and probably run the gauntlet with more randoms frown Should be easier as a non heroic of course but still

Other things not achieved:

I have a Crucible bounty for wins - one Control match done and won by a country mile with a 3.0 k/d to boot only for that not to register against the bounty total for whatever reason

Tried to take out Urzok with a couple of other folks who were more focused on doing the public event, massive fail so that remains in the mission list

Nechrochasm unlocked, yay! Sadly it's as ste as everyone said it was, boo

So by and large a crappy session in Destiny and reinforces my view that playing with randoms without communication is a god awful experience

I need to do urzok stage of the bounty on my 2nd character, tried it the other day on my own, just concentrating on urzok, barely scratched his health but I think it was playing up a bit with hit detection, couple of rockets did nothing to his health when shield was down or shield when it was up.I think there will be the problem now though of finding randoms in the game attempting to take down urzok for the bounty as most will have completed it some time ago.
One of the eris bounties is take down the hive knights who serve as the blades of Crota, do they still exist now how has dropped?

Can't believe you hadn't taken on omnigul until now, tried to talk you into it months ago hehe normally a high drop out rate at the start of the strike in that one. Guess you either weren't firing at omnigul as she died or you were too far away from the player that got the kill for it to register as a kill for you.

Happy to have a go at either if you are on later

Yes they do but only on the Fist of Crota mission on Earth. Speed past the first area ignoring everything and go down the stairs. Turn a few corners and there a 3 hive kneeling down. A Blade of Crota spawns in at that point. Kill it, go to orbit and repeat. Job done.

Under normal circumstances, you only need to register a single hit on the target and you will be credited with the kill even if other people finish the job and I hit Omnigul plenty of time during that fight smile I think that because the strike is part of the actual story progression at that point, that weekly / NF takedowns don't count. I looked at it again today and there is a purple glow around the strike on the select destination screen suggesting you go in that way. I've done Omnigul plenty of times, just never as the story strike mission because as you say everyone did it months ago before I'd even picked up the DLC

I struggled to solo Urzok a couple of weeks ago, then retrieved my Thunderlord and it destroyed him.

Here's my nicely stocked postmasters:

This is how I organise my stuff. Every character has a primary, shotgun, sniper rifle, heavy gun and rocket launcher in each element. I did have a Blackhammer, Patience, and Murmur on each but had to make some cuts. All I'm missing is 1 arc rocket launcher with tracking. I've got an Uppercut payload at the postmaster which I might roll, or wait to see if PvP throws anything up (preferably another Dreamwaker or Ash Factory).

I wish I had enough to be able to do the same, but no. Starting with the Titan and his primaries - solar, check, Vision of C. Arc, check, Fatebringer. Void, erm <scratches head>, nope

I have a complete lack of rocket launchers, just don't seem to pick those up anywhere and I haven't got a single solar shotgun. I don't think I've ever seen one of those (that you'd want to keep). RNG at it's finest I suppose and probably more down to (relative) lack of time in game more than anything

I do like the look of that Chrome item manager extension though, I think I will install that as the App is good but you don't get the full picture like you seem to with Item Manager

Reading more about the upcoming TTK suggests that whilst you will still be able to use all of the weapons collected over the past year, none will be ascendable forcing players to abandon them (eventually) and pick up the new stuff. If that's true, I hope they have spent a good amount of dev time coming up with proper replacements for the likes of VoC, FB and of course the mighty Gjallahorn

If not and TTK becomes yet another limp DLC albeit with a raid, I suspect my gaming interest will be swayed by one of the later 2015 releases - Battleborn, Just Cause 3 and Fallout 4 are all high on that list

I've just started this, any tips for a new guy?

I've just been solo running the story missions. Do you get better loot/more xp if you go in with a team?

Not really but you can run though on harder levels a lot quicker than on your own and get a bit more XP. My advice would be to go through the story on easier levels and pace yourself over a few days and complete the bounties available each day, that way you'll hit lvl20 fairly quickly.

Then you have the grind to get some legendary gear, mainly by doing strikes and bounties to get your vanguard level up so you can buy the armour.

Another tip, don't waste your resources upgrading green/blue armour/weapons. You'll be replacing them all the time as you level up and you'll need it when you start getting decent gear.

You don't I am afraid, just get your charecter through the main story on the same level difficulty as you and then get In the cruicible to get to 20.

Did the Nighfall and VoG yesterday and bagged a Patience and Time exotic sniper and No Land Beyond, another exotic sniper but in the Primary weapons slot. Also got both th Titan and Hunter to level 5 IB and got my Etheric Light and bought a Jolsers Hammer for the sake if it.

It really is amazing how quickly VoG is with people who kow what they are doing!

I don't mind not being able to use current weapons for future content. I don't however want to have to dismantle all my old stuff to make way for it.

Which platform are you on?

I have a level 32 Hunter on PS4 and would happily join a fireteam with you if we are both on to get through some of the strikes etc. I am a casual type of gamer and do it for the fun which might help you at the lower levels smile

Thanks for the advice.

Just tried a strike at level 8, Devil's Lair Had two level 7 guys drop in but we couldn't get it done. Kept getting swamped by stealth vandals on the second wave of the mesh generator bit.
