Skolas can be very frustrating! Not sure if you're aware but, everything that happens and when is based on his health.
At 75% health, the servitor bonds are broken and the poison initiated.
At 50% health, the first round of mines are spawned (along with a wave of adds)
At 25% health, the second round of mines are spawned (along with a wave of adds)
When we did it on Monday, we got his health to just over 25% without the mines spawning which meant that, when we were ready and had cleared the adds, we were able to kill him quickly and dismantle the second set of mines in peace
The rewards for the encounter? Yet another elder cipher which I don't need. No void scout rifle and no solar hand cannon (those are all I want from the game these days!) I did enjoy it though. If it hadn't been for youngsyr getting disconnected, I think we'd have beaten him on our first attempt!

I saw you on last night and thought "it a bit late to be starting that"
Patience is a virtue with Skolas.
Don't break the chains on the first beach ball? So what. Regroup, kill some ads.
Someone's gonna die with the poison? So what. Regroup, kill some ads. Just try and die on a platform for an easier revive.
Run out of super/ammo on cool down? So what.......you get the idea.
The only time constraints are the mines. Make sure ads are cleared, and supers/heavy are ready. Make sure a Hunter is poisoned when you start to burn him for mines, soon as the mine chime sounds, someone grab the poison and the Hunter is free to cross the map and should be able to clear two mines. The other two stay close to each other to take the poison and deal with the other mine.
We have done it without a Hunter, but they are useful for mine duty.

Yeah, starting Skolas at midnight is not a good idea
Will try again, think we got as far as the 2nd rond of mines, but it was the Ads that got us in the end.
Nothing in the Nighfall but a Corrective Measure and found Verdict In a VoG run was nice though.
Anyone fancy a Crota normal run in the week prior to a hard run? Would like a Black Hammer for the collection.

Despite Mr. Stimpy's cast iron guarantee of a Gjally dropping whenever he does a Nightfall these days AND Shane being in our party chat, none were forthcoming when we and Penguin took down Omnigul yesterday evening sadly I picked up exotic gloves for a hunter (Akhambara something) but I think that will be a shard, don't need more gloves
However, in a previous run with Pappers & Rubinho I managed to bag Hawkmoon! Quite chuffed with that, now I just need to get better with handcannons in the Crucible to make it work.
Having said that, I did the daily Crucible yesterday using the MIDA Multi Tool - what a revelation that is. K/D of 2.25 and nearly 4000 score for the round. I almost managed to do the Crucible section of the Invective bounty in just one match as a result. I shall be using that again and experimenting with sniping (tend to run with a shotgun being a bruiser Titan)
Saw some lag though - there was one character running about and despite unloading a good amount of Corrective Measure into him, his shield barely moved. And then he shotgunned me. Happened a couple of times.

The MIDA is awesome in crucible and should be even better once the HC nerfs come along, its my goto weapon for any map with a bit of range, Its not so good on close up maps like cauldron though.paul99 said:

For me I just want the hardest hitting weapon I can get hold of, even if it takes longer to get the shots off. I guess I'm good at getting a first accurate shot off, but not so great on follow up shots/shooting whilst under fire.
Hawkmoon for me is the clear winner in PvP at the moment.

I suspect you are correct once all the perks are unlocked and I shall be spending my time upgrading it and then I'll be able to do some back to back comparisons, but I do like a scout rifle. The map was The Anomoly and it does have some long sight lines so the MIDA worked well (bit like the Black Garden map)First impressions are great though - hits hard even at base attack level and makes a satisfying crack shot noise on firing. I like it!
I always felt Hawkmoon was the weakest of the exotic Hand Cannons - perhaps not surprising given that Thorn and The Last Word are basically breaking Crucible at the moment. That said, it's very nice to use it with Gunslinger hunter and utilise Chain of Woe etc to massively increase stabiity and reload speed, whereby you're far better off taking a moment to line up each follow-up shot rather than hammering the fire button like a mad-man and missing all but the initial shot.
I'm certainly not a Crucible beast though, so take that advice for what it's worth!
I should be about a fiar bit tonight and tomorrow, so I've got NFs to run, PoEs to crack through including Skolas if anyone else fancies it, and I'm also going to kick Crota in the nuts a few times to see if the big green bd finally drops his Crux for me! If anyone needs to do NM Crota, I'm happy to jump in as well, I need the practice with the Sword on the Hunter - I must be the only person in the world who find it easier with Warlock and Titan than with an invisible Hunter!

Definitely up for Skolas, need it for the year one emblem :-) More than happy to pitch in with NF's and everything else. Should be on from 9:30 onwards if there's a space :-)I'm certainly not a Crucible beast though, so take that advice for what it's worth!

I use all 3 of the exotic HCs. Thorn is my least favourite, although it is the most effective. Hawkmoon I like for maps like Asylum where you can control the doorways into B from the middle, and Last Word is my fave because it's fun to use and works well with a sniper (which I use 99% of the time). I think the reduction in ammo will hurt TLW more than the range nerf though.
Thorn is definitely OP. 2/3 shots and hide. Doesn't require too much skill. Effective at all ranges.
Hawkmmon is not OP. Does require skill and a good aim. Can be outgunned at close range.
TLW isn't particularly OP. Could do with slightly less range. Does require skill. Can easily be outgunned at far range. I think a lot of the shotgun pussies moan about it because they can't bear to have something that can challenge their ridiculously OP shotgun range.

Cheers for the Crota runs guys, apologies again for my - how shall I put this tactfully? - less than optimal Sword Bearing and thanks for having the patience to see us over the line. As cliche as it may sound, those failed attempts were mostly a learning curve for the required Hunter technique and that final successful run did put a lot of those lessons into practice. Still no bloody Crux though!
Really struggling to find any motivation to play lately. Not even interested in etheric light as there isn't much left I want to ascend.
35 Prison is really all I'm interested in now (although, will always help out with 32s & 34s if I'm around), and only because it is challenging and there is a very slight chance it might drop something vaguely useful (solar handcannon please Skolas!) But, I don't have the time or inclination to run these during the evening as they can potentially run to 3 hrs sometimes so, I'm limited to either Sunday afternoon or Monday daytimes only.
Nightfalls are just habit now.
TTK can't come soon enough for me.....but, that is a looong way off!

No worries and it takes time to learn and perfect anything new, once cracked it'll be a piece of cake. Bit like me and the Abyss - I was even wearing my Titan exploding shoulders and still didn't get past lamp no.2 Got stuck on a rock and blam!I'd like to try a bit of sword bearing but it would have to be in a NM Crota. Last time / the only time I did it, the hunter was only a level 31 and he just wasn't doing enough damage so I passed it over to someone of a higher level IIRC.
My 3rd Word of C was waiting at the Postmaster as a result - so that's 3 Defiants / Edicts / Words I have now so each character gets one. Just need to level them all up!
