Found out about the cheese for POE Hive 'dismantle mines' round the other day.

Wave 1 - leave the last enemy. 2 players jump up high on the rocks near the entrance. The other stays in that camping place on the left side. Shoot the last enemy and then no enemies spawn on wave 2 allowing the guy in the camping place to dismantle the mines freely. Move around so enemies spawn, kill and repeat for wave 3.

Excellent work dude. bow

Keep both the summoners. As AR go, they're pretty good and who knows how they'll be after the buff. smile

I was just looking at my stats for ToO. Overall K/D is positive and some rounds are very good. However, there are others where I am just carried!

I agree with the point that Hawkmoon doesn't seem to have been given much of a nerf. Unfortunately i don't have one but it does seem to be pretty OP, even compared to Thorn. I don't mind getting killed by The Last Word and respect those who are good with it. Maybe i was too used to Thorn but i found it's handing awful and stuck it back in the vault after little use.
No way. Both Hawkmoon and TLW require skill and/or experience to use successfully. Thorn is the only one that is truly OP I think. Dust off your Last Word, it's good fun to use. Just don't hold the trigger down!!
Going back to these posts from a while back, I was wrong. From the sheer number of Thorns being used in Iron Banner it's safe to say it's the most OP gun going. I've also spent some time using The Last Word and it's growing on me. I don't think it's as versatile as Thorn, but in the right time and place it's an animal. The hip fire bonus is handy too, but i'm an ADS obsessive and struggle to train my brain to not ADS.

I'm currently in the process of leveling up my 3rd character. Using the armour i'd collected along the way with other characters i was able to get to level 28. But to get up towards level 32 and start getting the etheric light to get a third level 34 character, it would preseumably be easiest to get some of the current gen armour that is default level 36. At present i have none. Any suggestions on the best place for this armour to drop? Rank up through the crucible and buy it? Run a shed load of strikes? The issue with strikes is that the House of Wolves strikes are quite time consuming when your character is on the same level as the strike itself. Doing the Dark Below Strikes (level 26) is much easier, but does current gen armour drop? Come to think of it i could complete the HoW missions, unlock the Prison of Elders and grind that for armour? I'll definitely be unlocking that asap regardless, for the guaranteed exotic.

Google seemed a bit unclear on this with a lot of outdated posts. The stoopid thing is a had a very similar issue about a month ago when i levelled up my second character (I only had 1 for a long time) and i've completely forgotten what i did about it!

Any thoughts on where best to grind much appreciated smile

I believe TLW is currently glitched, so that you can gain the hip fire precision damage whilst ADS. I believe you have to fire the first shot from the hip and then if you ADS you keep the bonus from the perk. wink

Probably the easiest way is to play PoE level 32 and 34 each week with as many characters as possible. The 32 will give you an armor core which you can trade in for the level 42 armour that Variks is selling that week and the 34 will give you an Etheric light to upgrade a legendary piece of armour to level 34/light 42. If you've got an exotic piece of armour too (use strange coins at Xur at the weekend), you should be level 33 in the first week and then level 34 the second week.

Of course, you can do the PoE with one of your higher level characters and then move the armor core/etheric light across to your lower level alt.

Vendor armor still needs an etheric light to get to level 34, but it's initially level 32/light 36, so still might be worth buying if you've got armor lower than that level - the dead orbit gloves are good, they have speed reload for hand cannons and faster melee perks.

You can't get the 42 light level armour from strikes or random drops (aside from the latest exotics). As far as I'm aware it's only available by completing lvl 32 PoE where you get an armour core, you can then buy a piece of armour from Variks which changes every week.

PoE/Variks is certainly the easiest and fastest route, but just for completeness you can get level 42 armour and etheric light from the Iron Banner tournament (just finished today) or Trials of Osiris (every weekend Friday to Tuesday reset).

Etheric light is also a random drop in the Nightfall, so obviously make sure you do that with all your characters each week too.

OK, up this week are:

Weekly heroic: Taniks HoW strike
Modifier: Specialist

Nightfall: Sepiks Prime
Modifiers: Angry, brawler, lightswitch

Lightswitch, ugh! frown Even though I know it's on, something always takes me out when I'm not looking. No burns this week, bit of a slog

Seems it's bullet sponge week - not sure I'll bother with the weekly and NF. sleep

BTW: Varik's has hunter boots with increased agility and grenade recharge whilst fighting Fallen - useful for taking down Skolas. smile

The Warlock and Titan boots are both Cabal perks, so pretty much useless.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate that level 42 armour doesn't drop. The issue that i have with my present armour is that even if i had plenty of etheric light to upgrade it, i'd first have to go through the old approach of collecting enough materials, Plasteel Plating and Ascendant Shards to fully upgrade the armour so that i could then upgrade it to 42 with the light. Doing that is a huge faff in itself, quite probably more so than grinding for level 36 armour.

So i was hoping to pick up a level 36 helmet, chest and trousers, which are much easier to max out the XP on under the new system once you have them. Then i can use a guaranteed light from a level 34 PoE run on my second character, guaranteed armour core from a level 32 PoE with the character i'm levelling up and using an Exotic Shard on my exotic arms, leaving just one last light/core to find, either from nightfalls or a PoE run. So i have a plan to get from 32 to 34 using (almost) all guaranteed core/light drops. I just need the level 36 armour in the first place! Hence my original question of the fastest way to get it so that i can start upgrading it to 42 with the plan above.

Well that was the plan anyway. Wouldn't surprise me at all if i was going about it all wrong...

I'd buy the level 36 armour from a vendor - picking the perks that suit you best, but I'd do it last.

Get the rest of your level 42 armour first and then fill in the gap with the level 36.

This is because you can't be sure which piece of armour Variks will sell next week, it may well clash with your exotic armor piece or the piece of vendor armour you would have bought this week.

You'd then end up with:

Vendor armour (36)
Variks armour (42)
Variks armour (42)
Exotic armour (42)

Couldn't think of a single good reason to log in for reset yesterday.
Nightfall with no burn for cr@ppy rewards? No thanks.
Weekly with no burn for strange coins to add to the mountain of them already in my vault? Nope.
Prison of Elders for all those spectacular and coveted guaranteed rewards it offers? Erm, not this week thanks.
Vault of Glass for the gazillionth time for duplicate rewards? Doesn't seem worth it really.
Crota's End because, well there is nothing else left to do? I'll pass I think.
Maybe Bounties for all that stuff I don't really want or need to level up? Perhaps not just now...

...I can't help thinking it might be time for a break from Destiny hehe

I would keep away from the leaks on TTK then...

Current legendaries won't be ascendable, so will quickly be out-powered by new DLC weapons, making accumulating/upgrading any current legendary items pointless.

All that Trials/PoE gear will be worthless. frown

Yeah, I kind of expected that and in some ways, I think it'll be a good thing. As long as there are new weapons/armour which aren't underwhelming like the current offerings, it'll be nice to have something to actually 'want', like the old days smile

We absolutely need to move away from the old faithfuls, many of which have been around since almost Day 1, but it's a bit of a killer to make all the current legendaries redundant, over a month before the DLC drops.

It's almost like a new game is starting on September 17th, which is great in so many ways, but it makes playing the current game pretty pointless, with six weeks left to go.

And I also read that with TTK, levelling your character will be less tied to "gear" and more about what you've actually done in the game, so you put the time in and you level up. That is a good thing IMO.

What are we supposed to do with all these legendaries then? Quite literally have a massive sharding session to be left with a pile of radiant / ascendant energies which presumably will be redundant in TTK? I wonder if you'll hand them in a bit like you did with the Vanguard commendations to gain rep or something.

I'm all for a bit of a reboot because gawd knows Destiny needs it, I just hope that we don't all sit there in September and say "so what was the point of the first year then?"

based on the above, I think I'm going to start stocking up on materials etc, im excited about it, as Youngsyr said, it will feel like a new game, It will be a sad day if I have to get rid of the Fatebringer..... Hopefully they will give more vault space.

I wouldn't bother with the materials either - that system is being radically overhauled!

For what its worth, I think not taking our current legendary weapons forward is a good thing, as the weapon loadouts haven't really changed through the year; Fatebringer / Vision, paired with Black Hammer / Found Verdict, with Gjallarhorn. Thats pretty much all I use because no other set up is anything like as effective. That said, I do have hope that the new weapons need to be sought after because they're genuinely useful, not just because they're set to the new attack cap and simply do damage that the old faithfuls mentioned above cannot hope to match. It also begs the question - if Black Hammer is going to be outclassed moving forward and we'll no longer wish to use it instead of newer more attractive option, why bother to nerf it? Something doesn't quite add up there for me, I'd expect it'll be something to do with the fact that the weapon in its current state will make parts of Taken King too easy.

The new levelling system does seems a better one though, as tying your level to your armour always felt like a forced way to deny progression. It'll now take us longer to from level 20 to 40 for starters, and it means that once again our gear will be unique, we won't all be running around in identical Raid gear simply to try and hit the light level cap.

I must admit I was slightly saddended to hear that we're losing Dinklebot. Don't get me wrong, his performance was almost comically bad in places and Nolan North is a far more accomplished voice actor but Dinklage bought an element of B-Movie cheesiness to the wafer thin plot that I found quite endearing.

Some very interesting and potentially exciting information in that thread, one to keep an eye on!
