I should be available from 13.30 to 18.00 next saturday. Anyone else yet to do Skolas that would like to make up the numbers? Moog? Rubinho?
Been away most of the weekend so doing a little Destiny catch up now

Well, technically I need to do Skolas for that year one emblem thing, but I just can't find the motivation to do so. The prospect of bashing buttons for 3, 4 or even 5 hours straight to take down one boss for crappy rewards and an emblem that everyone else will be wearing come 15th Sept, I'm not sure I'm bothered

PoE really doesn't do anything for me and Skolas is just another part of that I'm afraid. I'd rather Crota raid to try and get my warlock boots even though they won't count for much in about 3 weeks time either

Odd Destiny week this. Was stuck in a hotel with a dodgy Internet connection so I could play but NAT and DNS issues meant I couldn't use Party chat. Nevertheless I jumped into a couple of raids and managed to contribute a little without any voice which was interesting as I had to try and guess what was going on! I feel terrible for dropping a Crux on the weird, laggy Crota run. Sorry Sim! I also dropped a Vex in the VoG. It seems though that Necrochasm and Vex are not going to be upgraded for Year 2 so I've got them a bit late. Guess they help the Grimoire! Shotgunjammy and I also two-manned the nightfall in silence too.

Back on home soil with a day to kill today I jumped into LFG to try and find some randoms to kill Skolas with. I ran through with two until Skolas and then on the second or third attempt one of their controllers died so he, quickly followed by the logged off. I found two more for another run one of which then left too. Jump in PappersUS and he plus a random and I completed it in a couple of attempts as three Sunsinger Warlocks. I'm chuffed we got through and quite quickly in the end too. I have now finished my Triumphs! biggrin

Which is the best Elder Cipher to do? Are any of the HoW Exotics any good?

Sometimes Skolas just works, but mainly if you have a good team. Rubinho invited me in for the final Skolas bit (very kind as the run up is a ball ache) and he was dead in half an hour. 3 self res helps but if you all know what you are doing, it can run smoothly.

I prefer having the over powered primary's as headshoting stuff with a Fatebringer is quite straight forward.

Rubinho, with regards to actually choosing your Elder Cypher weapon, the selection you make at the beginning doesn't mean anything. Once you've finished the bounty chain, that's when you make your choice. Like the majority of people I suspect, I'd suggest going for Lord of Wolves first. It hasn't got a single outstanding feature, but it is unlike any other shotgun (fire in a burst, huge ammo capacity, reloads with a single clip) and melts majors. It's hugely effective at what it does in PvE. Queenbreaker's Bow is an odd one, a hybrid sniper-fusion rifle that doesn't really excel at either. If you like sniping, you're better off with a regular sniper, but there is fun to be had using it on patrols or strikes. Dreg's Promise... well, I'll be able to answer that this weekend, my last Cypher is almost done!

Don't worry about the Crux, it was a really weird run, mine will follow soon... right?

Good little haul of stuff from today's NFall runs (Omnigul of course, juggler and void burn). The first run was a bit touch and go as there were only two of us, but the other two were pretty smooth. Anyhow, picked up:

Claws of Ahamkara (warlock gloves, didn't have them)
Lucky Raspberry (hunter chest, didn't have it)
Thunderlord (2nd one, but my other has the lower attack value)

Three exotics isn't too bad at all I thought smile

I also popped my swordbearing cherry yesterday as I had a crack at Crota normal using my Titan. I've never run sword with the Titan before (and only once with a lvl 31 Hunter months ago) so I wasn't expecting great things to be honest.

Things didn't start great as I nearly blew myself up with my very first Gjally rocket trying to take down the Swordbearer, red bar health straightaway frown Still, stayed with it, called for rockets and up I floated and then forgot to unfloat. Got a couple of whacks in however and jumped down. Repeat and miraculously I'm not dead and I leg it.

Now healed, here we go again although Crota still had a fair bit of health so ogres on the horizon. This time it went better and first round I got a good three whacks and backed off, he's not far off dead I thought to myself, maybe just maybe scratchchin

Rockets again and I seem to get lucky time it to perfection and another good three whacks, but wait he's still down and I still have the sword. Another swift whack and he's done, I couldn't quite believe it

I even managed to steal Stimpy's much wanted Blackhammer as a result hehe

Can honestly say I was buzzing a bit from the rush of it all, something I've not felt in Destiny for some time, it was great!

Swordbearing on Hard Mode is not that much different to Normal mode any more. The only real differences are that you don't have the chalice to heal, and you need to be aware that Crota will enrage after so many hits. Basically, if you can do normal, you can do hard. Also, if you can run sword, you can run relic in VoG, the basic controls are identical.

Good practice Moog!

Oh, and Lovechild; shut it! That particular run was carried out under extenuating circumstances, as detailed previously!

I'm well aware of the extenuating circumstances, and have the utmost faith in your abilities. I'm not however going to let the small matter of the truth get in the way of incessantly mocking you!

Pappers messaged me yesterday to tell me how quick their Skolas run went. My response? "Because Sims wasn't there" Oh yeah!

Nice work on the sword Moog. As Sims said, relic next. Stimps kicked arse with it last time I did a Vault.

Nope, you weren't the only one thumbup

Finally got my internet back after a week of no connection but, still no desire to play Destiny. Even I am surprised at the extent to which I no longer want to play, I'm not even sure yet if I'll buy TTK on release day. I might give it a week after release and see what the forums/reviews are like first...

Am I alone in my apathy?

I know dude, I know. But, I don't want to do VoG again, or Crota, or Prison, or indeed any of the Strikes I've already done a gazillion times already...I've done the old Destiny to death.

As for the new stuff - 8 missions, a handful of Strikes and a new raid doesn't sound like enough for my £40. The missions will be done and dusted in no time, the Strikes will be fun but, will quickly just be part of NF or weekly rotation. I suspect the raid will be good fun but, after a month or so, we'll just be running the new stuff over and over and over again.

(You can tell I needed a break, can't you hehe )

I dunno, I'm feeling positive to be honest. The new economy system means there will be no easy way to level up and so, if the rumours are true, the end-game content is locked away at a higher level. That may mean more grind, but even so, I don't think we'll have finished all of the content within 4-5 weeks ala the last DLC.

I suppose I'm being swayed with how bad other shooters are out there. I've been playing the COD beta...

I think it might be the grind I've had enough of, I really have invested far too much time into this game!

Maybe I'll hop on at the weekend for an hour or two, see if I can't re-ignite some vague semblance of enthusiasm (not that I can think of a single thing in the game I actually want to do!) Hopefully, shooting things in their faces will be sufficient shoot

I wasn't overly impressed with Blops 3. I stopped COD'ing after Blops 2 and haven't felt the urge to return to the series. The format as it stood did need to evolve (or take a break), but the new mechanics felt a bit contrived and added nothing to the game. COD 4 was my first online shooter and I loved it, played all the Modern Warfares and Blops 2 a lot. If reviews say that it's got some good maps then I may get it.

I've yet to order TTK. I don't disagree with the weapon updates (or lack thereof), or the advancement system, it's the lack of content and the griiiiiiiiiiiind. All the old content will be pointless from a reward perspective, all the content outside of the raid will become boring after a run through with each character, which leaves the raid. I'm sure the raid will be worth £40. A couple of evenings of tomfoolery with everyone is worth £40, and I have a sneaky suspicion that I'll play it a lot more than thatrolleyes

My main concern is my inability to play the bd game casually. I can't keep playing 100 hours a month, it's not healthy!! I know I'll see everyone playing on launch night and succumb. Hopefully I won't feel compelled to collect and upgrade everything.

I've got Everybody's gone to the Rapture and Limbo(dark little puzzler). Gonna get Dishonored Def Edt and Metal Gear this/next week and if they last me until Fallout then I might not get TTK. Fallout is the priority, and I can't play TTK and Fallout concurrently as I might as well say goodbye to the outside worldloser

Pretty much exactly where I'm at mate (apart from thinking the raid alone will be worth the £40!)

I don't think the end product itself will be worth £40, but the time spent and the amount of fun gained from it will. If you spent 80 hours in the raid that works out at 50p per hour. Outstanding value for money. It's all the faff surrounding the raid that I'm loathe to get involved in.

A few things have annoyed me of late.
1) Bungie/Activision's greed. Cutting content and underdelivering. Destiny would be nowhere without 3rd party apps/websites.
2) Trolling and lack of respect for players. Selling Gjally a few weeks before it becomes redundant, the roll on Felwinter's this IB.
3) State of PvP. Unbalanced lag fest.

PvP has been keeping me Destiny'ing for the last month or so.

What?! IB is on?! eek

Being a filthy casual is the key fellas. I only play Tuesdays, Thursdays and a few hours each day at the weekend. The monotony will set in eventually, but it will be delayed. Not always through choice, mind.

...he says having booked the day off for TTK. shoot

You might want to check which day off to have, as the last DLC came out on 6pm the day of release... If it's the same for TTK.. you'll want the next day off wink
