People are predicting that Destiny 2.0 will be available a week before TTK release date, with the DLC content being playable on release date onwards. So patrols etc will have Taken characters a week early (like HoW did with Wolves patrolling and Ether chests a week before HoW actually dropped).

The stream reveal was very underwhelming, a run through of one new TTK strike.

There was lots that they obviously didn't want us to to see, including Mr Fruit actually using the new goes-into-heavy-slot Sword, and the fireteam ran past several encounters entirely. Sure, we may do the same when we're just grinding strikes, but to see the developers doing it when showing off their work was a bit off. For all the talk of bosses having raid-lite mechanics, there didn't seem to be any real evidence of that either. No, they weren't bullet sponges, but the mechanics were pretty much still shoot-it-until-it-dies.

On a positive, we saw several engrams dropping, including at least one white one (when was the last time you saw a white item drop in the wild?) but of course they made no effort to show what it was, or what it could be used for.

The new subclasses did look very, very cool too.

The sub classes did look cool - a lot of thought had gone into the specials and melees, but almost none into the jumps (just rehashes of jumps from other sub classes) or grenades (only one new grenade type per class).

The strike looked great visually, but seemed like a cake walk - the streamers had no problems at all with it.

Yeah, the jumps and grenades were copy-paste from other subclasses, but some of the perks in the trees look to have some really interesting synergy in a variety of way.

As for the strike being easy... well, it was a level 36 strike and they fireteam were all level 40, so they did outlevel it quite comfortably. Not sure how the 200 light value would stack up in that equation, though I'd guess given how easily most of the enemies went down that 200 Light would be pretty strong for a level 36 activity.

You might want to check which day off to have, as the last DLC came out on 6pm the day of release... If it's the same for TTK.. you'll want the next day off wink
Oh, I'm fairly confident that this sniffle will turn into a full-blown, but only 24-hour, cold by then hehe

I actually thought the Strike looked pretty good. The Warlock super looked awesome!

I like the idea of dynamic enemy battles which can potentially be completely different enemies spawning from different places on different timers each time you run the Strike (although, there will obviously be a finite number of possibilities which we will learn soon enough.)

My main reservation is that I don't want to continue running around all the existing maps again. I'm sick to death of the Cosmodrome, the moon et al, it's been a year now, time to move on to pastures new - ie. the Dreadnaught.

I can see myself (as Singh suggested) just being a filthy casual and not bothering with half the new quests or bounties. I don't think that the content is going to be worth £40 but, re-uniting the old fireteam from the early VoG & Crota raids might just make it worth the money... scratchchin

Having just watched the Strike reveal, I thought it looked good too. I can't wait to get my hands on some of those flaming hammers to chuck at things!

Some interesting information in the Bungie weekly update with regards to nightfalls and weeklies

Nightfalls:

- Are level 40
- No longer give an XP buff so no need to "rush" to do it on reset day
- Fireteam no longer get booted to orbit if everyone dies and revive is now on a 30s timer

Weeklies

- Won't exist as they do today, replaced instead with a heroic strike playlist
- Are level 40
- Awards legendary marks which can be earned 3x per account, not per character meaning you could run it three times with one character and still get all the rewards
- Guaranteed legendary engram for first successful completion per week
- No cap on amount of marks you can earn in a week

No mention of Strange Coins as part of the rewards. I wonder what will happen to those?

Seems they are moving towards encouraging players to play more with just the one character rather than having to run everything with separate characters.

I'd wager strange coins will be still be around, but they'll be harder to obtain. Heck, how many of us have literally hundreds just sitting in our vaults anyway? Another option is that Legendary Marks will also be required to purchase from Xur, so strange coins will be only half the transaction.

Not sure about Nightfall though; as much as it is a pain if you wipe near the end, isn't that the whole point of the activity? And getting rid of the XP buff seems weird.

I think it just means you start from the beginning rather than having to load it again.

I'm not so sure on that one. They stated that wiping to orbit meant a lot of people played it safe rather than going in all guns blazing and they wanted to encourage the latter, so I wonder whether you will restart at the latest checkpoint rather than having to do the whole thing again. That would of course dilute the Nightfall down to a heroic strike with burns and modifiers though.

Removal of the XP buff was down to it not being the "badge of achievement" it was originally supposed to represent and they are working on a replacement of some kind

Of course it doesn't. That wouldn't really be much of a change and certainly wouldn't stop people from playing cautiously, which is what they're trying to do.

First time I noticed my Guardian's head was on fire, I wondered what on earth was going on! hehe

Iron Banner is, and pardon my French, a fking mess.

I know there have always been issues with lag or latency, but I did a few games today and they were all borderline unplayable in parts, with guardians able to take a rocket in the face, then blink and shotgun me before they died, numerous controls points staying in enemy hands because the game simply won't register that your team is in the vicinity and holding the control zone ( I even sent bungie a vid of this, it was utterly ridiculous) and the usual thing of putting five shots into someone only to have them suddenly next to you, shotgun in hand and health bar full.

I know the Crucible is a bit of a broken and unbalanced mess at the best of times, but Iron Banner for some reason is always worse and the issues I've seen today just take any possible enjoyment from the game and turn them into controller-breaking frustration. Yes, I launched my Dualshock 4 at a wall, like a petulant child. furious

Unless Bungie are able to improve the issue, I shall not be setting foot in another Iron Banner, and it's wound me up me to the point I'm seriously considering cancelling my TTK pre-order.

So. Trials of Osiris.

The Lighthouse is a weekly fixture at least once and usually with the Mercy still in tact. There's probably 70+ clears between 5 of us.

This week though, we've gone-

Flawless (mercy used but multiple 4-0 comebacks)
5-1 (card ditched)
3-1 (card ditched)

...including some 5-1 drubbings.

eek

The standard of teams has jumped significantly this week. Either that, or we've just got st. hehe

Hope you lot are doing better! shoot

Yep hehe

Got an 8-2, 6-3, 7-3.

I've been playing like a lemon all weekend, but it has been tough. Lots of maxed grimoires and crap connections.

Burning Shrine again! fk off bungie. I don't think my heart's really in it. The 1 aspect of the game that remains relatively fresh and they ruin that with the same map again. Had a blast on Widow's Court last weekend. Why not Pantheon again? I think Anomaly and Asylum could be good.

Sims, it is bks. I'd be happy not getting the dlc straight away, but you then miss doing the raid fresh and being at the same stage of progression as everyone else.

Yep. This is the sign of a good team. There are so many bad teams all wearing the flawless emblem. In fact, that is a guaranteed way to get tea-bagged after an easy 5-0. hehe

A maxed Grimoire though, which includes winning 100 games of Rumble, does make me sit up and concentrate.

Perhaps the same map and being bored of it contributed to our poor show. We were out-played at times though. And easily. frown

That's going to be the kicker, isn't it? The new story missions and strikes I could take or leave, the new subclasses will be a very welcome addition, but the King's Fall raid is the money, and I want in on the ground floor this time around. I want to be going in on the day it launches with no idea what to expect, or what to do with whatever mechanics they throw at us. I want to be surprised by what lies in store, and delighted with whatever rewards are earned.

I actually managed to catch the lesser-known Speckle in party chat earlier today, and during our conversation I mentioned that I believed King's Fall won't be immediately available. By that, I don't just mean you'll need to complete the story chain before you can access it, I honestly think they'll hold the Raid back a week to make sure everyone has had a reasonable chance to get levelled and geared for it. It's going back a while, but if you remember they did the same thing for VoG, in that it wasn't accessible until a short time after launch, even if you had the appropriate level.

I also finally finished by final Elder Cipher bounty today as well (thanks Jase!), and with Dreg's Promise in hand, literally the only exotic I don't have is Necrochasm.

After my little tantrum yesterday, I decided to give Iron Banner another chance. It couldn't possibly be that bad again, right? Wrong. I played one game and was incandescent with rage inside fifteen minutes.

https://youtu.be/VUwIXqDfdMg

Coming through the tunnel, I see an opponent running at me. A melee attack will weaken him, right? No. Fine, pull out the Party Crasher (with shot package and maxed range, or course) No, nothing. Ok, throw a grenade. You can see the Axion Bolt hit him, yet none of it does any fking damage at all, and I'm Thorned to death, obviously.

https://youtu.be/5mAUfRiIg-4

Same game, coming up to Control zone A, notice some red on the radar. No worries, shotgun / melee combo will sort him out. Or not. Fair enough, the initial shotgun blast does appear to only partially connect, but watch what happens then. I die... to a Nova Bomb? Funny, never saw him cast that. Then he runs into the room and a full four seconds later the Nova Bomb animation kicks in.

What I'm getting at, is that I'm done with Iron Banner. I've enjoyed it previously, but as time has gone on it the lag / cheating (whichever it may be) has gotten progressively worse and it simply isn't any fun whatsoever to lose games due to circumstances that are totally beyond your control. If you've got a st internet connection, don't play an online multiplayer game. furious

Just watched those...

Dang, that is bad. frown

I experienced some bad lag today but nothing like that! I'm at rank 3 at the minute and just plan to get to rank 4 and call it quits. I want the helm and a FL.
