I don't play PvP because I don't enjoy it but wondered why lag like this doesn't show up in raids and strikes? I can't recall ever seeing anything like that in PvE.

It's rare in PvE, but it does happen.

... I believed King's Fall won't be immediately available. By that, I don't just mean you'll need to complete the story chain before you can access it, I honestly think they'll hold the Raid back a week to make sure everyone has had a reasonable chance to get levelled and geared for it. It's going back a while, but if you remember they did the same thing for VoG, in that it wasn't accessible until a short time after launch, even if you had the appropriate level.
I talked it up.http://www.polygon.com/2015/8/31/9231567/destiny-t...
So Mr. Stimps, did you walk away with a Fatebringer this afternoon or not?
My second proper attempt at swordbearing was, frankly, hopeless. Blow myself up with a rocket? Check and wipe. Couldn't seem to drop the sword and blink strike, Crota smack and dead. Try to jump clear, Crota smack and dead.
Decided to stop wasting people's time and rockets and hand over to Adam who blitzed it with ease, twice in fact. Impressive to watch actually
Just shows, success first time around was down to sheer luck
2x Words and an Edict (so shards) and more shards was all I had to show for it. I do hope they can be exchanged for something useful come TTK, which I will be pre-ordering tomorrow
Not surprised that the raid won't be immediately available although I was hoping to get in there in the few days I have off work post TTK launch, not likely now

Nonsense, don't get discouraged, it doesn't matter how good you are, everyone has moments where it just doesn't happen, even if that reason is sometimes your own stupidity. Case-in-point, I ran sword with Warlock earlier and whilst playing the Wife had made some Rice Krispie cakes for me. Yummy. To save my fireteam (Stimps, Matty and Baird) from hearing me crunching, I muted myself. A few minutes later, I was standing on Crota's platform wondering where the hail of rockets that I had called for was. Mic was still on mute. Crota smashed me to pieces.Decided to stop wasting people's time and rockets and hand over to Adam who blitzed it with ease, twice in fact. Impressive to watch actually

Having already gotten all the Crota rewards this week, I switched to Hunter. First sword, no problem. Second Sword? Blink Strike still on cooldown, smacked Crota for invis, he smacked me straight back. Oversoul, Wipe.
I did get him on the next run, though Stimps is still short a Black Hammer.
Bottom line, everyone makes mistakes. Don't worry about it, running sword is fun.

You don't fluke a 5 minute encounter involving multiple different actions. You've done it once, you can do it again.
I watched the recording of our flawless run. I was obviously mindful of Crota's behaviour and would taylor my approach to what he did, and was lucky to get 3 hits with a Hunter. I was invisible at his feet when the rockets hit, and most of the time that would be an easy 4 hits. If it was a normal run, I would have gone for 4 and wiped.

I still maintain that any mishaps with the sword is as much the games fault as the wielder. The fight is so regimented that you do the same thing each time, some times it works, some times it doesn't. The fact that the fight runs the same every time breeds complacency I think. You expect to jump at the same time to the same place, hit him the same amount of times etc, and when Crota behaves differently it catches you off guard. It would have been nice if Crota's behaviour altered throughout the fight, so you had to do things on the fly.Edited by SimianWonder on Monday 31st August 21:30

Chaps,
I've found a way to pass the time until TTK comes out. Can't take credit for this find, and I assume it is old news for some of you, but this website seems to be the best in clearly identifying what needs to be done to complete Grimoire cards:-
www.destinystatus.com
Just whack your GT into the top and click on Grimoire to see what needs to be done. Using the sex-pest as an example:-

Lots to do but close to a few. I have so many ghosts to find as well.

You can pick up all the ghosts in a few hours, this site tells you which ones you're missing and how to find them:

What a cracking site that is - you see all the current missions that are happening, plus you get a great overview of your characters and Grimoire, nice one!I've found a way to pass the time until TTK comes out. So NF is Rockets McD with arc and solar burn and brawler - makes a change from the usual suspects, although given everyone will be carrying a Gjally these days, I can't see it lasting very long I'll be about around 12:30 should anyone else be

Yep, I agree. Running sword is fun and I think everyone should have a crack at it at some point in their Destiny "career" if nothing else to be able to proclaim that they took down Crota and to give fireteams options when it comes to that point. And you learn something new each time you try - I didn't know about the "running on to the post" technique that I was shown yesterday, great tip! Saves me running around on the floor being blown up by my own rockets as they proximity detonate due to some thrall I hadn't seen (that really is an annoying hidden, erm perk, on the Gjally)
Being a noob swordbearer, you always feel a bit of (personal) pressure to get it done and when it doesn't / didn't happen in the first handful of tries due to me simply getting it wrong, I'll happily hand it over to someone who can finish it - I've had my bit of practice and that will make perfect in due course
Looking back on it, one massive error on my part was not being invisible when jumping on to the platform for the first time - I was so fixed on the blink strike aspect that I forgot all about that, doh! Lesson learned, I won't forget that one again.

Thanks, I'll deffo be using that.
Dang, Youngs, you've nearly got a maxed Grimoire. 3600+!
Yeah, I'm just missing 100 rumble wins, 40 odd Salvage wins, 150 VIP patrol missions, 30 strikes 500 sidearm and about 100 hydra and Ogre kills.Dang, Youngs, you've nearly got a maxed Grimoire. 3600+!
I really can't be bothered to grind those out!
I play a lot during the day with Adam and Reece, whom as you know are max grimoire saddos. Adam was most indignant (rightfully so) when he found out your grimoire would no longer be displayed in your emblem I believe he said something along the lines of "What's the point then? How else am I going to prove to people what a sad, no life wker I am"
I've got my Gaylord platinum trophy and that's enough for me. I'm not chasing grimoire it's tooooooooooooo much of a grind.
Looking at mine, I'm surprised to see 2 rumble wins.........only 98 to go!

My Grimoire score is 3230, and I'm primarily missing a load of ghosts and PvP related bonuses, ie stuff I'm not bothered about in any way, shape or form. I was surprised to see though that I've only got 90 Ogre kills and 58 Hydra kills, I'd have thought those numbers would be much higher having done Crota's End about sixty or seventy times and run Archon Priest Strike at least twenty or more. Maybe it only counts if yours is the killing shot?
