Did the daily heroic with NocturalJon this afternoon followed by a level 24 (or was it 26?) strike - only being a lowly level 22 that Nexus Mind boss was tough and could sure soak up the damage. Triumphed in the end, only rares and a shader as a reward frown

It was also the first time I actually used my mic and it was great to be able to chat whilst doing the strike as I hadn't done it before - really does add a lot to be able to do that

Then the server bombed and I got booted out. Thanks though to NocturalJon, hope to team up again some other time as it's much better than tackling things solo. Cheers.

edit: make sure you have a mic , makes tactics much easier
You know that most of what Xur sells is Strange Coins? You're 2 away from the Exotic Arm Engram though.

I got a exotic engram and dismantled it for 2 shards . I just finished the nightfall and got 10 coins , which gave me enough to get the exotic auto rifle .

Now i just need to get in the raid later and get some shards for my raid gear smile

Thanks for giving me a shot at the vault of glass. I need a better primary asap.

Doing the Thorn bounty but struggling on the crucible without a fusion primary

I'm trying to do the Thorn bounty, but my only Void weapons are a level 20 Rocket Launcher (which needs Heavy ammo, not exactly easy to come by in Crucible!), a green level 14 Shotgun and Fusion rifle, neither of which have much stopping power. For those who have done this bounty, how did you go about this section of it?

Weapon levels have no bearing in the crucible, so my tip is to get good with the fusion rifle.

Randomly allocated each time you hand in a bounty or something like that, supposed to be a 2% chance of getting one.

I absolutely nailed this bounty using a legendary shotgun with void damage. I got The Comedian from the Vanguard. You just have to change your tactics and be more defensive.

Try doing it on the Control as everyone will be going after the flags.

Or just cheat and get some mates on a rumble and have the understanding they are only their to die.

I really struggled with this to start with as I am gung-ho in the crucible and usually only play Control. I changed a few things and got this quite quickly using a green shotgun. I would have preferred a fusion rifle but didn't have one that dealt void damage.

This is what I did:-

1. Play Rumble. The maps are generally smaller meaning you'll not get shot from miles away as you use a shotgun/fusion rifle. Also, less people/it being free-for-all means you're less likely to get ambushed by fellas playing almost as a squad.

2. I changed my Hunter's stats to be as fast as possible with as much armour as possible. I'm not sure to what extent these things are equalised in the crucible (as they are with weapon damage) but I noticed a difference, particularly when legging it away from an encounter which wasn't going to plan! hehe

3. You cannot be gung-ho. I switched style so that I crouched in crevices and doorways (which makes you invisible on radar) until people ran in. Shotgun to the back of the head, run away, rinse, repeat. I had the benefit of the attribute which would make my hunter invisible for a short time as well. Use that, if you can. You can get away with running about like a loon if you're very good. I'd say I am better than average but not the best and so this just didn't work for me.

4. Following on from the above, tune in to one-on-one battles that may be occurring in the next room. Don't run in immediately. Let them kill/seriously damage each other and then swoop. I'd lost count of the number of times I got 2/3 kills doing this.

5. Linger around the heavy ammo. Pity you haven't got a HMG as you could rack up 4/5 kills with the ammo provided. Anyway, even when you have bagged the heavy ammo, stay there. Most people assume they'll be able to pick some up, even if the icon has gone or that others will be in the vicinity. Take advantage of that.

6. Quit if you die 3 times in a row. I never actually had to do this but I had a rule that 3 deaths without a kill meant I was up against much better players and so should limit my losses. Seen as though 1 kill is 5 points, and a death 2 points, I thought that 3 deaths is deffo losing me points (assuming I get a kill in the first place!).

It is tough but can be done. Once I did all of the above, I managed this in a handful of games. The trick is to change focus from winning a round to not dying. The kills will come naturally.

Did I miss the raid last night?

I had a temperature and flu-like symptoms all day yesterday (didums!) and so couldn't face sitting up-right never mind playing.

Typically, after near 13 hours sleep, I felt perfect, just in time for work rolleyes

Anyone want to add me to their fireteam for Vault of Glass? Rperkins12

I've never done one before and I'm interested what it's all about.

I'm level 27 (almost 28 - just one more upgrade) and have legendary/exotic weapons and armour throughout. I'm on most evenings and weekends.
