@ Singh. Enlighten me. What point in the raid does the Rabbit excel? I've used it a bit, but I'm maining a HC still or Dead Orbit scout.
Sorry I missed this. smile

It excels at the Deathsingers particularly when trying to damage the second one. Unless it was a glitch, we were getting wiped if we did not get her health down enough on the second relic (and so first time attacking her). Jade Rabbit's exotic perk means the mag is re-filled after a precision shot (which will do bonus damage) AFTER a sequence of body shots. So, you'd chain 5 or so head shots (leaving 6 bullets in the chamber) and then 2 or 3 body shots followed by a headshot. That last headshot will do bonus damage (around 10-15% more) AND will immediately re-fill the mag. There is no need to reload at all. The thing hits pretty hard as it is. I found that I was using my sniper rifle until I had to reload. I'd then switch to the JR and unleash constant DPS. smile

As an aside, I hadn't realized that the JR was a PS exclusive. Geez, the Xbone has been screwed again. eek

Congrats on the raid completions people. Well done. thumbup

Took the plunge and picked up a ps4 and destiny - I've tried to wade through the thread but at 280 ish pages isn't really making much sense yet - any pointers or tips for this newbie ?
Just to check, you bought the Taken King Legendary Edition and not the base game?

I'm honestly not sure how it will present the story to you, but I'd hope it would be in chronological order.

The best weapon for that is the new quest exotic scout. The funny looking thing with the swirly bit in the middle that you get from eris. Can't remember what it's called, The last shot does extra damage, but also damages you. when you're in the aura of invincibility, the last shot doesn't hurt you and it's full auto.

The only part of the raid that we can't consistently do first time is oryx himself, he does usually die pretty quickly now though. Someone said yesterday "what seemed all but impossible last week is now a walk in the park"

Bring on hard (and ultra hard) mode. Although I suspect the latter will get the better of us for quita a while.

So after quite a long hiatus I bought the TKK version on Friday and with the OH away, have basically had a marathon session for most of the weekend and managed to go from level 29 to level 40 seeing all of the story content on the way.

The new stuff is VERY good and definitely re-ignited my interest but I've finished the story and my light level is only around 217 so I obviously have quite a way to go to reach the heady heights of the 300's. This is the point I guess where the grind kicks in so I just hope the new stuff keeps me hooked but it's looking good so far, I forgot how addictive the get one more item\weapon hook is in this game.

Still fancy doing CE at some point, even though I know the drops are no longer relevant just to experience it, is it doable with randoms? I've seen on google that it's even possible to solo it but I guess that's using a bit of cheesing.

I've forgotten some of the game mechanics for levelling up etc so may ask on here if\when I get stuck but it was gratifying to see I haven't lost my eye for HC head-shots wink

Will hopefully not take me too long to get up to a decent light level so I can raid with the PH gang again. Any tips for increasing my light level quickly?

Crota's end doesn't need to be cheesed to be done solo.

Guys,

I'm back playing Destiny after a good time out (I quit once they released the first expansion). I've now got The Taken King - Although the games the same, a lot has changed!

Motes of light - what do these actually do now? I have over 100 and they seem useless?
Strange Coins - are these still used through Xur?
Where have the daily/weekly strikes gone?

I'm level 40 already but struggling getting any legendary weapons and armour and my year 1 stuff is weak now, I'm getting stronger rare's!? Heeellllpppp!

Ignore if you're not interested in TV chat. smile

A massive, massive (and given my propensity to take the Michael hehe, genuine) thanks to you techy people for helping me see the light (excuse the pun). I've been reading, fiddling and seen some televisions. A couple of points:-

1. HDMI with ARC functionality is incredible biggrin. For the stoopid amongst you (hehe), this is a way for your audio and kit to be connected (via HDMI) to make things much more integrated. I've had to buy some HDMI 2.0 cables but, in essence, I can now turn the Sky box or PS4 on and this will turn on the television and soundbar whereas before, I'd have a number of remotes and would have to turn them all on individually. I'd need the soundbar remote to turn up the volume but I can now just use 1 remote for everything. They all seem to know what I want to use by presses of the buttons on the relevant remote/control pad. E.g. I'll be watching TV and will press the PS4 home button. The TV will switch to the PS4 and adjust to the settings I have for that. Press ANY button on the sky remote and it'll switch back. Great technology thumbup

2. I have calibrated hehe. I used this as a guide- http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-brand/sony/w80... but had a fiddle to get a picture that looks good. I am genuinely astounded smile. Before I would see white pools in dark scenes and assume it was glare or that they all did this but these have pretty much gone. The picture is less bright and more natural. I can't describe it better than that. I'm very happy. smile

3. I've seen a few TVs in a shop's "acoustic and viewing room" which felt like a private lap-dancing joint hehe. Anyway, I looked at them in various modes (and pretty much ended up watching the entirety of the Dark Knight Rises, which is no bad thing). They hooked up an Xbox One with Forza as well so I could see what they were like for gaming. FYI, the Xbox seems like a decent bit of kit (which I wasn't expecting!). May be tempted when Halo comes out but it just doesn't have anything exclusive justifying a purchase at present. We seem to have the better games, for now. Anyway, I found the Samsungs to have the best picture for TV viewing, no doubt. The OLED is exceptional. However, I have mentally opted for the following:-

http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/sony/...

It is way, WAY over budget (and about 20 inches more than I need!) but I fell in love with it. The picture is just a notch below the Samsung for TV viewing but I found fast scenes/transitions "smoother". The chap spoke about "motion flow" being at work but I didn't understand and didn't want to say hehe. I assume this is related to the 800Mhz chat from before. Anyway, it was much better for gaming. The clincher was the touch remote and the in-built Playstation app which worked well enough in store.

I'm going to have to save my pennies for a little longer as it is expensive. I'll also need to seek authorization from the house banker. There's no way I can sneak this in.

Let me know if I'm making a massive mistake or if there is a vastly superior set for the same amount or ideally less. Otherwise, please don't piss on my chips. smile

Thanks again. thumbup

I'm in pretty much the same boat. Doing some googling myself, Motes of light can be used to upgrade weapons now so very useful.
Xur is still in the game so you can still buy weapons off him at the weekends with coins but I think he is also useful for other stuff now. Annoyingly I forgot about Xur this weekend and only realised on Sunday afternoon....DOH!
Daily\weekly strikes have been moved to the strikelist I think but you need to be a certain light level now to get at the strikes which throw up decent gear.
Your old weapons are pretty much dead, I persevered with Thorn for a while as it's penetration and DoT perk was useful in my race to level 40 but the old exotics and legendaries seem pretty much redundant now. Your better off equipping any new blue rare's that you find as they have higher stats and more importantly higher light levels which lead to better drops. Fortunately blue's seem to drop quite often now.

Just finding my way around again so some of it is still confusing for me too but after level 40 it's ALL about light level which is now directly linked to the light level of your weapons\armour\gear and doing anything you can to increase it.

Makes sense now. I've been reluctant to add use any rare/blue weapons out of stubbornness, looks like I'll have to! Add me to a fire team if you need any help at any point smile

Three things come to mind.

1. A TV can NEVER be too big! smile
2. If you like it, that's all that matters. But don't under any circumstances keep looking for TV's. You WILL change you mind and your budget WILL get bigger.
3. Budget £300 to get it calibrated. It will be worth the cost. yes

Same here, I was rather attached to my exotics as it took so long to get them but soon realised they were holding me back. I've heard that you can upgrade some exotics to 2.0 versions but not sure how to do that yet or whether it's worth it, would love to keep The Last Word and Thorn.

Will add you up later. thumbup

On the subject of TV's, have to agree that there is no such thing as too big. Now regularly gaming on 100 inches (oo-eer), playing on a "normal" TV just doesn't compare any more.

Well you're only half in luck. The Last Word is an available Y2 exotic but Thorn is not.

I spent the whole weekend before last using ToC's and I have the following Y2 exotics:

Jade Rabbit
Zhalo Supercell
Hawkmoon
The Last Word
Telesto
Invective
4th Horseman

Helm of S14
Helm of Inmost Light
Ruin Wings
No Backup Plans
Immolation Fists
Crest of Alpha Lupi

About 30 marks shy of the 150 I need to pick up my Y2 Truth. Don't have a single heavy exotic as yet and figured that Truth is this years Ghally so it's next on my list.

Not completed Kings Fall yet but I'm on Oryx tonight from 10pm having spent about 5 hours getting there. Have had the raid sniper and shotgun drop so far but really, really want the scout rifle.

100 inches, my word! eek I dread to think of the cost of that (if it is a TV!), based on this:- http://www.costco.co.uk/view/p/lg-98ub980v-98-inch...

Thanks again for the help fellas. I would have fell off my chair at the thought of paying a dude to set up my TV but based on what I've managed so far, I can see the value. At £300 or so, only just though. smile

Guv, EO- you're better off jumping into the party chats a la old times to answer your queries on the fly (there will be more). I'll be on throughout the day tomorrow so will run some strikes with you both which will land you some better gear. Otherwise, I recommend completing the quests as they often land you gear on completion. This will get you to 275 or so light. You'll be able to complete Nightfalls then which will help get to 300+. smile

Daily story- 15 marks
Daily crucible- 15 marks
(both at the bottom left of the director screen with all planets showing)
3 x heroic strikes- 10 marks a piece.
Quests- can lead to 25 marks on completion.

Are the Y2 upgraded exotics as good as the best new gear you get from raids\drops or are the newer exotics\legendaries better?

I've found out how to upgrade to Y2 but looks like you need A LOT of legendary marks to upgrade, what's the best way to farm LM?

A bit disappointed that The Last Word is not upgradeable, was probably one of my favourite weapons from year one although I've heard it's still quite useful in PvP?

All standard Y2 exotic weapons and armour are at 290. That Black Spindle exotic sniper rifle was apparently dropping with 310 but that was patched out at the end of last week and is now a 290 drop too.

The raid sniper rifle, Defiance of Yasmin, dropped for me at 302, the shotgun, Silence of A'arn, at 305. Yep, 150 marks for a Y2 exotic is a lot. I can't stand PvP in Destiny but I've been doing the daily Crucible matches that provide either 10 or 15 marks each time daily just to accrue the marks for Truth, as well as cherry picking the odd Quest that rewards marks too.

Hopefully I'll get most of the others as drops but as I don't have an exotic heavy, and my current highest is a solar 286, a 290 Truth with decent tracking seems like a sensible purchase for now.

Y1 weapons and exotics are still perfectly usable in the Crucible as the damage is equal regardless, but not so in the Iron Banner. You'd want new weapons only in there for sure.

Quite fancy an upgraded Thorn and may convert a few other bits but will probably not bother with a lot of the others if raid drops are higher light.

Now swords, talk to me? Are they worth the effort as it looks like a bit of a farming exercise which I always find very boring?

No Y2 Thorn available as yet so you're SOL I'm afraid.

Quite fancy a sword myself but not gotten around to getting it done yet. However, if you have a Titan don't choose the Void option as it will take you forever to get Void kills with a Titan Defender. Think I'll go Solar myself to enjoy the Sunbreaker subclass a little more.
